We used to have taverns but after womens lib they were changed to pubs where every one could enter. I guess playing cards is fine if you don't gamble No different from chess people play in parks.
Oh, that reminds me of when I was younger and the whole family would be at my grandparents' farm. All the women would be in the kitchen fixing meals, washing up or just drinking sherry and chatting, while all the men would be in the good room (only used on Sundays or when the vicar came round) playing cards.
Beer on tap on a Sunday morning? I wish I could convince my friends to do that :)
ReplyDeleteThat is like in Switzerland. Do women play too?
ReplyDeleteGreat time pass.
ReplyDeleteI love the iron grillwork on the windows - Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wordless Wednesday!

ReplyDeleteIt looks welcoming and relaxing.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine any cafe in the UK allowing their customers to play cards on the premises.

ReplyDeleteI just read that drinking beer is very good for the brain. I’ll try to remember to drink at least two beers a week – I could use it!
ReplyDeleteAnd I always though cafe meant coffee or a restaurant where coffee is served. Cool grill work and reflections in the window.
ReplyDeleteAt least the ladies know where their husbands are. ha ha.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting-looking place! I like the ironwork - am I seeing the word "restaurant" spelled out?
