SMILEY SATURDAY -
More participants here
I have been sitting peacefully behind my computer it was early morning and I was busy reading some posts when suddenly the silence was interrupted by a loud scream and then some Italian swears.
I jumped in the air and wondered what catastrophe had happened and looked out of the window and that's what I saw !
Apparently an alcoholic dog had torn the plastic bag into thousand pieces, because inside were empty beer cans or cat food. It was the metal and plastic day garbadge !
Mr. Dog had really done a good job !
Mr. Gattino without drinking his cup of coffee put his (Ferrari) bathrobe on and hurried on the street
despaired he took a closer look on this street artwork
and then collected the whole rubbish and put it in a new bag
I was so busy to take pictures of this event, that my neighbor's daughter came out and helped him at least with moral support because she had a bad back !

SHOW & TELL

Happy May Day !
Today is a holiday here in Belgium, in most of the other European countries and throughout the world. It's called Labour day, or May Day. May Day commonly sees organized street demonstrations and street marches by millions of working people and their labour unions.
In Belgium it is also use to offer lilies of the valley to family, friends, and neighbours.
As it is a labour day, I decided to be lazy and not work. The shops are closed and the city empty. A friday off invites for a long weekend and go away.
The only new thing I have to show are these three cats. I got them for Easter from Mr. Gattino who probably thought that I talk, see and hear too much and offered me this as a reminder.

To my world also belongs my sunday walks to the Midi Market at the Brussels main station. Usually I only go there when the sun is shining. But this time I had to go in typical Belgian rainy weather. The UK is famous for its rainy weather, but Belgium is not better. For each sunny day we are extremely grateful ! This market is one of the biggest in Europe and has around 400 stands.
So here we are walking the the rain !

FUN MONDAY - About marriage
Hoosier Girl proposed this topic: Love and Marriage. what is important to a good marriage or relationship? Tell us a story of something endearing about your marriage or your parents' marriage. Include any wedding pictures or images of love that remind you of what a good relationship should be.
A good relationship is when you are not getting on each others nerve after 30 years (to make a round number). I am married for 40 years now and we know each other since 41 years, which is quite a long time. Our friends who married at the same time end the 60th have all divorced after 25 to 35 years of marriage.
For me marriage was or is devided in 3 important parts. Enough time alone together before thinking of babies. When a child or children are there don't forget that you are also a man and a woman and not only a mom and a dad. Quality time as a couple is very important.
Some women as soon as they become mother they are mothers and nothing else. If the marriage breaks then it is not surprising. In the third part of your life together your children have left and you are suddenly alone again like at the beginning of your marriage. If you haven't safed some time as a loving couple there will be no communication anymore, a mom and a dad without children and not a wife and a husband who could now enjoy time together with probably more money and more time as in the beginning.
That's all I have to say about marriage. It would also be better to live at least one year together without making your relationship official. Never buy a cat in a bag, that's what my grandma told me !
These pictures are from October and December 1969, the civil and religious wedding. To get everybody together we had to marry twice ! We were 25 and 28 years old which was quite old for that time.

WEEKLY WINNERS - A Waterloo anniversary
More participants here at Sarcastic Mom Weekly winners
The retirement home of Waterloo city celebrated its 20th anniversary on saturday. It was a big feast of course in presents of the mayor and other more or less important people. As the painting workshop of my group takes place here we participated in the decoration of the big feast hall where we usually paint.
When I arrived a small orchestra played Jazz
a horse with carriage was waiting to take the residents for a ride
We had decorated the room with our paintings the day before
and demonstrated how to paint
This gentleman is 103 years old and the eldest resident of Waterloo. Here he is flirting with a young woman. He is absolutely amazing !
Our paintings hanging on the wall and the middle of the room is ready for dancing. Above the head of the white haired woman my two paintings are hanging
at 2 pm after a speach of a Mr. Important
Green baloons were released
A clown on stilts entertained the children
another one
Pancakes were made, they are very thin in Belgium and eaten with jam or brown sugar
The dancing group arrived. All residents. They are all over 70
The first lady in the second range is 85 and the mother of a friend !
Some people wanted to pose with a falcon
and there were plenty of games for the little once.
Besides the quite cool weather it has been a very nice celebration !
