SOME FUNNY NEWS
COPENHAGEN - Scores of Carlsberg workers walked off their jobs in protest Thursday after the Danish brewer tightened laid-back rules on workplace drinking and removed beer coolers from work sites. The warehouse and production workers in Denmark are rebelling against the company's new alcohol policy, which allows them to drink beer only during lunch hours in the canteen. Previously, they could help themselves to beer throughout the day, from coolers placed around the work sites. The only restriction was "that you could not be drunk at work. 800 workers went on strike Wednesday and around 250 walked off their jobs Thursday, resulting in interruptions to beer transports in and around Copenhagen.Carlsberg's truck drivers joined the strike in sympathy — even though they are exempt from the new rules. The truck drivers are permitted to bring three beers from the canteen because they often don't have time to have lunch there. The trucks have alcohol ignition locks preventing the drivers from driving drunk, he added. Not bad !
In Belgium the police arrested a fire dept pump car which zig zagged on the street. The driver was the fire brigade second lieutenant from Charleroi.Big scandal ! !
A Russian chimpanzee has been sent to rehab.Ex-performing chimp Zhora has been sent to an animal rehabilitation centre by zookeepers because he has reportedly picked up bad smoking and beer-drinking habits from visitors at the zoo in the southern Russian city of Rostov.
A British bartender was saved from death - by his beer belly. Snaz Martin - who runs the Britannia Inn in Kent, South East England - was stabbed with a three-inch blade by a drunken customer after he tried to throw him out the pub, and only survived the attack because his podgy belly protected vital organs.
Cheers !

SHOW & TELL FRIDAY

15 years ago, we bought two sofas for our living room. They are very comfortable, and I didn't want to buy a new pair only because the Alcantara fabric looked dirty and the beige had become dark. There also were spots from drinking and eating. I had tried to clean it but the result was not at all as I wanted.
To get the two sofas covered with new fabric, costs a fortune and it is almost cheaper to buy new once. I didn't want to spend money on sofas but keep it rather for my vacation's piggy bank. One day I had a bright idea. I thought if I choose fabric and have it cut in 6 pieces and cover the seats with that it certainly would look nice.
Immediately I went to a fabric store to realize my idea, choose a fabric, gave the mesures and asked for the price of 6 finished pieces. When I heard the price I almost fainted they wanted 200 € (267 $) the fabric I choose was quiet expensive ! I had to find another solution. The following sunday I went to the big market in Brussels and bought a wonderful fabric of the same quality for only 20 €. As I can't sew at all a friend cut it into 6 pieces and my friend Ilona who is an excellent tailor, sew me the whole thing. And here is the result. I am very proud, it indeed looks like new !

MY WORLD - Easter Egg Hunting
more participants here
Each year at Easter, Waterloo city organizes an Easter egg hunt in the city park. I had never been there, because when our son was little it didn't exist yet.
I don't know why they had put these sun chairs in the grass, it was a cold (5°C, 41 F), wet and grey Easter weather and I was convinced that there wouldn't be a lot of people, if ever
But I was wrong
even very wrong ! The parc was full !
A radio station and the chocolate brand mark Milka had sponsored the hunting.
hundred and hundreds of children were looking for eggs !
A lonely stroller parked under the tree
A living chicken greated the children
and then the hunting was over and everybody left quickly for home or into a café to warm up !

FUN MONDAY -umbrellas
Once again it was raining and when I looked out of the window I saw my neighbour with an hidious looking black umbrella going to her mail box. This event gave me the idea for Fun Monday. But I didn't count with myself. When I looked for umbrellas to make pictures I only found two !
They were standing in the garage, full of dust, and when I opened them I had some cobwebs in my face and a dead spider falling to the floor. I don't remember when I used these enormous things the last time.
This one I use in summer when I "work" on the terrace to make a screen against the light. Rosie likes it as tent. But all the others, I am sure I had at least 3 had disappeared. I am permanently in war with umbrellas. I always buy small once you can fold and put in your purse.
like this one. Only I would never spend 30 € for an umbrella. I must have forgotten them somewhere as usual. That's why I buy cheap once for 3 € because I never know how long they will be in my possession. Usually I don't take an umbrella, I always try to buy a coat or a jacket with a hood, or I wear my berets.
I remember that in my youth we girls loved to use these transparent umbrellas, they were very in fashion !

WEEKLY WINNERS
More participants here at Sarcastic Mom Weekly winners
Yesterday was the inauguration of my friend Ilona's son's motorbikes shop. I thought that was a weekly winner at least for me because the whole shop was decorated with items from the 60th, which of course were my crazy years and Ilona's too ! So we had a lot of fun returning to the past.
Ilona as proud mother in front of the shop
aren't they cute, these are Vespas, an Italian line of scooters. Mr. G. had one, and some of my boyfriends too. They are still in fashion
Even Charlton Heston drove one !
These scooters would be very practical today again !
Homemade little cakes, which were delicious
Ilona showing the wine, but she had a coffee !
The first records I had were these big once. I still have them, but I don't have the player anymore.
but in the shop there was one and the music was still of very good quality
lined up in the showroom
and of course we couldn't resist to "try" one. Ilona loved the pink color
and here an oldie on a Vespa ! I tell you it's never too late !
