FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

I started the week by looking for a cat sitter for Rosie, as my neighbor can't do it anymore she forgets to close the window and to clean the litter box I hope she didn't forget to feed Rosie ! Fortunately there is always dry food in a big bowl.

From my advertising in Facebook for a kitty sitter,  I got 5 answers. With one lady I had an appointment at 5 pm, Before I went with a couple and another lady I knew from Facebook for a Chinese lunch. Unfortunately the lady talked so much and always the same that we hardly could put a word in the conversation of ..... diseases !

For the moment I have to force me to go out and I regretted that I had done it, because I didn't even enjoy the meal.

Once at home again,  the lady came to meet Rosie. A miracle happened, Rosie stayed in her basket and let herself be petted, then she started purring and licked the woman's hand! That was a good sign. Rosie is pretty difficult with other people. The lady's name was Cathrine and she was also a cat fan. So we liked each other immediately  and she will look after Rosie for the 12 days I am away and send Whatsapp pictures.

One worry less.

The next day I went to my doctor because I was walking like a drunk, at least that was my impression. Now I have to do a lumba scan, although I don't have any back pain, I just get breathless quickly. I probably got assembled wrong somehow. What does my back has to do with the lungs?

Nicole has disappeared, even her daughter doesn't know where she is, she has been taken to the hospital because she has terrible back pain. It is so sad. Why taking her to the hospital, instead of giving her painkillers, anyway it won't last long until she joins Rick.

And to complete my black series, my coffee machine died too and I had to buy a new one. I just bought the same, Otherwise I was busy with my car papers, what paperwork, I am really fed up !

My neighbor also a Nicole, let Dominique use her parking space in the basement for the 12 days we are away, so her car doesn't have to stay on the street.

Yesterday we had a beautiful rainbow, and the cherry tree is now in full bloom

My blogfriend Andrew from Australia had forseen that Rosie would use the second floor in a few weeks and he was right  ! She really did, but it took her 2 years to dare to climb on the tree !!

HODGEPODGE APRIL 20

1. Last time you drove/flew 500 miles (ish)? What's a place you'd like to visit that lies approximately 500 miles from your current location?

800 km are not that much, and I think there is nothing which is of any interest to me, because I have seen it all.

2. Tell us about a time recently it felt like you were 'racing against the clock'.

I have to find a cat sitter for little Rosie, my cruise is approaching and I have three women to "inspect". As the days go by so quickly I have to race against the clock !

3. Have you ever attended any really large sporting events? What was your impression of the experience? The Superbowl, The Kentucky Derby, The World Series, FIFA World Cup, The Indianapolis 500, The Daytona 500, The Olympics, The Masters, Wimbledon, The Boston Marathon, March Madness, Tour de France, Monaco's Grand Prix, The Open (golf), The Ryder Cup, The Stanley Cup Finals..of the events listed which would you most like to attend in person? Or maybe one that's not listed?

Nothing ! I am not interested in any sport, world cups or not, I prefer an exhibition of a famous painter

4. Are you an iced tea drinker? If so, do you drink it year round, or only in the spring and summer months? Do you make your own or buy it bottled? Sweet or unsweet? Flavored? Lemon or no lemon? How about a Long Island Iced Tea?

I don't like ice tea at all, I find it too sweet at least in cans, my grandson loves it and when he comes I have to buy some cans for him.

5. April 20th is Volunteer Recognition Day...do you volunteer in some way? Tell us about it. If not, tell us about a volunteer you appreciate.

I drive my neighbors around for shopping, as they have no car and can't drive. In my generation a woman married and then she had nothing to say anymore only a few got a car. I learned driving in the 60th  when I was 19, there were no driving schools in Belgium and no driver license required ! Everybody who had a car was allowed to drive, even if he had never touched a car.

My father hired a guy who gave driving lessons, because it was out of question that I touched his precious vehicle ! I was one of the very rare girls who could drive and as I earned quite a lot of money with my translations, I could even buy me a little used car. A Fiat 600. That was my freedom. I could go wherever I wanted and didn't depend on anybody

 6. Insert your own random thought here.

I wished I could be able to create me a new life, but the months go by and instead of feeling better and get used to walk on one leg my grief gets worse. I think I have to look for professional help. Or a group, My life is a fake, I am humorous as I used to be, but that's not me anymore.

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

What today is called scrapbooking apparently existed already in 1940 ! This are little drawings my mother had put besides the photos. I think she was quite talented and I wonder why I never saw her drawing. When I found the old albums she had made before I was born, I regretted that I can't read what she wrote besides or under her drawings as it is the German Gothic writing   called "Sütterlin"which was used before and during Hitlers time in Germany. It changed after Germany lost the war and the population was forced to write as everybody, the Latin way because the occupants couldn't read the writing !

I have never learned this writing because it was not allowed anymore in the schools. My grandma wrote in a mixture of both and sometimes I had to guess what she meant.

From 1924 to 1941, this "Sütterlin" was the standard German script that first graders learned in German schools. It was developed by the Berlin lettering artist Ludwig Sütterli.

AWWW MONDAY - WEEKEND APRIL 15

********

WEEKEND
On Saturday Dominique arrived in the afternoon, we both were quite tired. We had a cup of coffee, chatted and I told her that my son will adopt a dog. I didn't know more, I didn't even know that he would adopt one, it was Isabelle who had told me. I was quite unhappy that he hadn't told me about the dog, I mean it is something important to do this together in a family, but apparently I am not part of the family. Dominique tried to comfort me but still, for the moment a nothing hurts me. We watched a Miss Marple movie and went to bed.

I didn't sleep very well and when we had our Müsli the sky looked quite grey and dull. She had gotten up early, I didn't want to get up but finally did. After lunch she had her afternoon nap, very important for her Parkinson and I watched my little crime story.

I had put an advertisement in Facebook and a local paper to ask for a cat sitter for little Rosie.  So far I got 3 answers. I will wait until Monday and then meet the women, to see who is convenient for Rosie, as she is an old girl now of 16 and I don't want that she doesn't like the person. She is a little special, Maria who worked for us for 10 years and loves cats, Rosie doesn't like her at all and disappears as soon as Maria appears in the door.

The time went by quickly and Dominique left around four. I had my appointment with the police at 5 pm (a Sunday). It was the same friendly guy who was there when the car wash door had attacked me. He had to type my declaration for the insurance. So I declared that I choose the program payed, entered the car wash stopped at the red light and was suddenly pushed outside under the only half open door, the roof was damaged and my windshield too. We had laugh again, the insurance fakes to be dead, since the 5th April and the police hasn't got no answer yet. I don't care, I use my car for shopping and visiting friends and that's it.  Now I let the insurance companies do their battle, who has to pay.

My son has called and explained the dog story, it's not a Golden Retriever but a mixture, same size and a cute face, She is black . I only hope that he reads how  to educate a  puppy and also the difficulties you can have with a female if she is not spayed. We had made the experience, the male dogs  stood in front of the garden fence  in long lines and sometimes tried to climb over the hedge ! As soon as it was possible I had her spayed.

I wanted to give him some tips but when it comes from me he thinks I want to interfere in his household. I only hope he will not become "Daddy" of 9 puppies.
