FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

Monday honored us with a rain, wind and dark clouds, a weather to remain in bed. I tidied up my room, and then I watched TV and read Blogposts.  Later in the afternoon I went to the restaurant for a coffee and found some others who had the same idea and then we played UNO again, because we all like this game and for once I won ! A miracle !

The next day I finally went to the Charity Shop with the two bags full of pullovers, T-shirts and other things which I would never need here because it is too warm everywhere and it only takes space, which I needed for the "replacements" I bought ! Now I have new feathers ! I also bought games for us when no entertainment is organized so that my roommates don't get bored! I found 5 decks of cards for €5, you can be generous for that price ! In a normal shop you wouldn't even get one game for the same amount. When I came back with the cards they were all very happy and wanted to try out one game, but it was too late.

My ancient neighbors had asked me to come one afternoon, which I did and they told me that the owner of my apartment had put a poster in front of the building that it was for rent ! I wonder then when he had done all the renovations which he claims me to pay ! I had told him I just give him back the 2 month rent which were blocked in my bank as guarantee for eventual damages. He had written me miles of emails and threatened to take me to court but I didn't give in, I hadn't broken anything, how ? Living alone with a little cat ? I swear I had no elephant living with me who could justify the invented damages.  

I wrote this to him,  and so far he hasn't contacted me again.  My neighbors then told me, the apartment was already rented ! I found this really outrageous. He really takes me for an old stupid woman. I don't move, he will see. 

This is the only thing which could bother me, but meanwhile I only laugh. Despite the bad weather I feel good and the afternoons with our games are always very funny and we laugh a lot. 

But at 5 pm I return into my room and then eat my supper in peace in front of the TV. Sometimes I think, especially in the morning, that I'm just on vacation here and will be going back home soon, and then I remember that I'm home!

HODGEPODGE FEBRUARY 22

1. What kind of thinker are you-doer concrete thinking) analyst (analytical and abstract thinking), orator (logical thinking) inventor (imaginative thinking) or original thinker (creative)? What makes you say so? You can try this little quiz (link here) to help with your answer. 

I didn't read the link because I got a warning not to open ! So I answer without. Honestly I seldom think, I guess, I act immediately and think later. So far I've been lucky and haven't fallen flat on my face. But there are different kind of thinker in one person, decisions or thinking about an event or a book or whatever.

2. Do you own a crock pot, air fryer, and/or instapot? Do you leave said small appliance sitting out? How often do you use it/them? Favorite thing to make in one of these? 

I am happy that I am not concerned about these appliances, I don't have one and I don't use one, for the simple reason that I am happily living in a Retirement home, and get everything ready for eating on my table !

3. What's something you hold a strong opinion on that matters not at all in the grand scheme of things? 

Nothing comes into my mind, I think I am rather flexible

4. Describe the view from your window. 

My view is absolutely gorgeous, I can overlook a part of an enormous park belonging to the castle in which I live, it has been converted into a senior residence.

5. Do you have a favorite brand? Explain.

I am not at all looking for a brand and therefore have no favorite. I don't care about brands I wear or use what suits me or what I like. For example I choose a dress even on a market or in a second hand shop and if I like it I buy it and realize later that I was "lucky" it was from X brand. I once bought a raincoat on the market which I liked very much, and which reminded me a brand, and when I had a closer look I saw that I had bought a real Burberry coat ! My motto is, it's easy to dress smart and expensive but difficult to dress smart and cheap! And I have no regrets to give it away when I don't like it anymore.

What a bargain, I paid 20 € instead of 200 € for the same model ! The coat must have fallen from a truck !

I have the blues today, it's still raining and as a gift they announced strong winds ! I am thinking if I go out or not, but I badly need some fruits. I also had promised to see my ancient neighbors. I'll see ...

Last week we had ONE day of sunshine and for February quite warm, one of us put her mobile in the grass ran back to sit down, so we were all on the photo ! Wished I could do this  again, but it doesn't look like.

AWWW MONDAY - WEEKEND FEBRUARY 17

WEEKEND

Saturday we could go out again in the sun it was warm. I started my walk, met others of course and finally we rested on chairs and chatted together taking our first sunbath. 

 

 

The first girl is the daughter of the second and she had put her mobile in the grass and quickly returned to her chair so that we were all on the picture. 

 

She had made walking her mother who is in recovery here for a couple of month. The daughter   is very speedy, talks like a machine gun and had discovered a statue of a hidden Madonna under scrubs and ivy and had half cleaned it, she suggested that we should continue, but we refused, Too lazy ! 

 

Apparently  there are other treasures in the park and as Eric the manager had given us green light to work and plant in the park, it had made a lot of women happy who had missed gardening, not me !! Good idea, but unfortunately the next day it rained again. I couldn't take a picture of the half cleaned Madonna. The nuns who had occupied the convent had left some traces which were hidden, as the park had been neglected for years. She also has the intention to clean the mini golf which everybody appreciated. Now it is covered with moss, and impossible to use. 

Sunday was terrible wind, rain, and dark ! Lot of residents who expected visitors were disappointed because nobody wanted to drive in this windy wet weather. I tidied up my closet because I take out thing and throw them back when I have worn it ! So the inside of my closet was a mess. Then I collected the mice which Rosie had distributed all over the place during the night. This beast sleeps during day ! The cleaning woman told me that Rosie did this on purpose to check if she cleans in the corners ! 

In the afternoon I went to join the others for a coffee and learned a lot again about life was before, as they talked about their grandparents (!) a lot of them have been in the Congo, ancient colony of Belgium, where lots of them had made their fortune and when they had to leave in 61, they left a mess in this country (which is still in a mess).

My son and grandson had arrived in Northern Italy for a week of skiing. I got the first picture.
