SMILEY SATURDAY - In love at 70 !
More participants here
Today is Valentine's day and time for a love story !
Years ago in 1975 my friend and neighbor Vivi was very much in love with Jack another neighbor two houses farer from ours. Both were married of course and had children. I only realized it because each morning when I opened the window of our bedroom I saw him in his car, driving slowly and blowing a kiss to her standing behind the window in her living room. This went on for at least 4 years where kisses where blown through the air every morning.
Then one day it stopped. The wife had threatened to divorce and moneywise that wasn't possible because it was very very difficult to divorce at that time. Both decided not to see each other anymore, which was not very simple because they lived so close together, just 2 houses on the other side of the street.
In 2007 her husband died and she recovered from a very unhappy marriage. And then one day she got a phone call from her beloved Jack, his wife had died too 2 months later than her husband. She hadn't known. The funniest thing was that both partners were burried in the same cimetary only 3 graves between them.
She was 68 and he 87 when finally they could show their love for each other, which had never stopped. They started to go out together, to travel together and to go shopping together. Both of them remained in their houses, but each afternoon and evening they are together.
They spent a week in a castle in the Ardennes at Christmas and on New Year's Eve he invited her to the best hotel in Waterloo, where they had a phantastic meal with a show and a champagne breakfast next morning.
Now she is 70 and he 89. She has changed, I have never seen her so happy in these 33 years we know each other.

SHOW & TELL
More participants are here at Kelly's
Near Waterloo is a big store which sells all kind of things. People put their antiques, furnitures or other stuff here for sale. When it isn't sold after 2 weeks the price goes down, if after 3 months it's still not sold (but I don't think that happens) they have to take it back. Of course the store owner gets a commission on the sales.
It's really a Ali Baba cavern and you can spend hours in there. I wasn't looking for something special, I just went there to take some pictures.
But then I saw this plate and of course I couldn't resist to buy it !
It is handpainted and a limited edition. It came from the UK and landed up in a junk store in Belgium. I payed 15 € (19 $) and am happy with it !
And then I found a little side table which I thought would be very useful for me to just put it besides the sofa so that I can put a glass or a plate on it.
The top is out of black glass, and the table itself of brass. It fits to all kind of furniture. I got it for 10 € !
That's always the same when you are in a shop with no intention to buy, you always come out with something !

and the little streets around the Grand'Place where
one restaurant is besides the other ! There is a lot of choice !

FUN MONDAY - Waterloo, historical place
Odd Shots and Macro Monday are here
Our host for this week is Pamela at "The Dust will wait"
She asks : Show me in pictures or tell me in words what defines the place where you live.
For me it is really a very easy Fun Monday as I live in Waterloo, Belgium (history here in Wikipedia) "on" the famous battle field of Napoleon and Wellington which is known of course all over the world.
At the very beginning of my blog, I made this collage, just to show where I live. It pretty much resumes everything.
The famous lion and the Panorama wherein the battle is painted in 3 D.
The lion hill with always a lot of tourists around, especially in spring and summer, but also the whole year around.
In June a reconstitution of the battle takes place with soldiers from the Netherlands, Germany, Scotland and England. It's nice to see the scottish soldiers doing their shopping in Waterloo center in their kilts.
The church of Waterloo hasn't changed since it was used as sickbay for the wounded soldiers of the battle in 1815
We have lots of restaurants in historical buildings
and a new capitol
a place for expositions is located in the parc
I had to use old pictures because the whole week it was raining and the weather awful. The picture above shows the main street
and this one is the Wellington museum, which I shot out of my car for obvious reasons.

WEEKLY WINNERS - Barter shop
More participants here at Sarcastic Mom Weekly winners
We have a shop here called "Troc" which means "barter". People who want to sell their furniture because they have to move or just for other reasons, put it here for sale. There is almost everything you can buy from antiques to new stuff, from typewriters to chinese plates or african masks.
Sometimes I like to go there, just to have a look on all the things which are sold and sometimes I even found something to buy like a little side table.
Besides the shop is a restaurant. As you can see the weather was very bad !
There are two floors. The cats were all for sale but quite expensive
from the first floor I had this nice overlook. You really have to search in all angles and corners because there is no order at all. It's a real mess.
Some of the furniture was really very beautiful and almost new. Prices very interesting.
A vase from China
and some other funny items !
This Halloween witch was as big as I and costed 130 € ! which is quite a lot.
a bellow as table !
Need some Golf clubs ?
or a sewing machine
a "new" computer perhaps ?
It's very easy to spent a couple of hours in there !
