SHOW & TELL
More participants are here at Kelly's
Near Waterloo is a big store which sells all kind of things. People put their antiques, furnitures or other stuff here for sale. When it isn't sold after 2 weeks the price goes down, if after 3 months it's still not sold (but I don't think that happens) they have to take it back. Of course the store owner gets a commission on the sales.
It's really a Ali Baba cavern and you can spend hours in there. I wasn't looking for something special, I just went there to take some pictures.
But then I saw this plate and of course I couldn't resist to buy it !
It is handpainted and a limited edition. It came from the UK and landed up in a junk store in Belgium. I payed 15 € (19 $) and am happy with it !
And then I found a little side table which I thought would be very useful for me to just put it besides the sofa so that I can put a glass or a plate on it.
The top is out of black glass, and the table itself of brass. It fits to all kind of furniture. I got it for 10 € !
That's always the same when you are in a shop with no intention to buy, you always come out with something !

ReplyDeleteI have an English relative who painted plates for a living.) My people come from the Potteries. She did a series of 12 Christmas Plates over 12 years which my aunt was able to purchase.
I had friends that started a consignment shop years ago but it never looked as nice as this one.
OOH, that's my kind of place! Like the plate! My MIL would love it! We always get her something with a cat on it.
ReplyDeleteWarm Wishes,
Susie
I think you shop well. My mother-in-law collected cat plates. I think Betty's sister has them or at least had them.
