FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

I just could copy and paste my weeks and only change the dates ! Nothing happened this week, nobody was murdered in our building, for that I have to switch on the News. Besides burning buildings, Covid statistics, suicides, etc nothing has happened ! No, that's not true, they start to do a very slow lockdown opening ! Now I am allowed to go shopping with another person and there are no restrictions anymore to go into the shops.

When I did my shopping on Monday there were not many people there, apparently now that you can go when you want without appointment, less people shop ! After shopping I was exhausted and sat down with my computer and looked a little bit what happened in the world with my worldwide blogfriends. More or less it was everywhere the same.

On our Scrabble day the sun was shining and we could play outside ! That was really nice and while we played a magpie couple was building its nest nearly above our heads ! Was funny to watch.

Mr G continues his reha and makes progresses ! He has his normal voice back and finds his things again. Not always but at least it gets better and there is good hope.

The last nights I didn't sleep well I woke up often and cat Rosie thought she was the Callas and sang operas ! When I got up I thought I had forgotten to switch off the light in the living room but it was the moon ! A huge pale moon lightened the whole room ! That's probably why I woke up so often

I was surprised that the picture came out quite good, I only have a little Canon Ixus

To  spoil my now only cat, I bought her a new toy, but this ungrateful thing just sniffed at the catmint I had put on the wheel, turned around and disappeared ! And it's said that ALL cats love catmint !! I took some photos and returned to bed this time I put my earplugs on so Rosie could sing her operas in front of the moon !

For the first time since ages I went to a store which sells almost everything from tools to clothes and decoration, furniture etc. As there was no time limit anymore I spent  two hours in the store and locked at everything ! I came out with some beauty stuff, cleaning products, masks, socks for Mr. G, (he has sold or lost them anyway I couldn't find a single sock in the dirty laundry.) Probably another spouse found the socks in her dirty laundry. Now that will not happen anymore.

And to finish the week there was a burst water pipe in the garage  and I had to hop to my car like a kangaroo in a park. Nevertheless I managed to get one wet foot ! Fortunately it was very quickly repaired.

Lockdown Rosie in one of her different poses !

HODGEPODGE APRIL 29

1. What are some memories you associate with spring?

I have no special memories in spring, only feelings ! I feel like an old bear who comes out of his winter hole, and smells the spring's special parfum ! I am not hungry like the bear, but I observe that every day nature gets greener and flowers show their colorful heads !

2. April showers bring May flowers...was that saying proven true where you live? Snapdragons, anemones, carnations, lilacs, sweet peas, tulips, lily of the valley, orchids, roses, gardenias...which one on that list is your favorite May bloom?

As it mostly rains in Belgium, we are competitors with the UK. Can't say that April helps flowers to bloom in May ! They come out when they want. From the mentioned flowers I like orchids and roses. They are my favorites, but in fact I like all flowers when they are blooming in the garden, as long as I can sit on a bench and admire them ! I hate garden work !

3. What are your top three distractions and how do you deal with them?

Now ??? With our lockdown ? I feel in prison, have no energy and feel as if I had a burn out !  So I do nothing. Usually I would love to travel, go out, take photos, meet friends, go to the cinema and theatres and all interesting events. But unfortunately I can't move so I sulk ! Fortunately we still have our scrabble once a week and our Corona babble Club 3 times a week !

4. Do you eat beef? In the course of a week, how often is beef on the menu? A hamburger, steak, prime rib, or a roast beef dinner...which beef entree would you choose and yes you have to choose. Unless you're a vegan, and then you may pass.

We stopped eating beef, it has no taste anymore. If I make steaks then I buy meat from Argentina. They seem to have happy cattle !  The Steaks from European cows have no taste and have to be drown in sophisticated sauces to give them some taste. We mostly eat chicken, turkey and porc.

5. In what way were you creative during the month of April?

In trying out different sleeping positions on my matress

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I am at the end of my patience ! One year masked, measuring "social"  distance (I throw my meter away) and keep my hands clean ! I have committed no crime and sit in a prison with the rest of the world. The only thing that comforts me is that I will have a whole chapter in all history books with people from all over the world because something like this has never happened before!

SPRING IN MY WORLD

The view out of my window has changed again ! Spring has arrived and it blooms everywhere ! This is my favorite season ! And the "village" I had discovered during winter, starts to disappear again behind the trees and their leaves !

Rosie watches the birds building nests !

AWWWW MONDAY - WEEKEND APRIL 24

*****

Yesterday I made a real bargain I bought 6 rolls of fake grass for half price,  to put on our balcony it's like a carpet ! It certainly will look very nice but first the balcony has to be cleaned and the garden furniture too. For the moment it's very sunny but still too cold to sit outside.

A friend came visiting me, she was in Waterloo and called me to know if I was there, I was very happy about her visit, it was a long time we hadn't seen each other. I know her from London, she is English and the wife of my son's best friend. She brought me a beautiful bouquet and we had a lot to chat of course. The rest of the afternoon I was hanging around I called twice Mr.G but each time he complains and wants to come home I can't get it in his mind that I am not the doctor and cannot decide ! So today despite the sunshine I was angry with the whole world  ! And this %£*€¨"$ lockdown doesn't make it better !

Sunday morning I prepared a bag for Mr. G because finally I could see him despite our ennemy the Virus who poisens our lives ! The  clinic allows visits each Sunday from 2 pm to 4 pm. It took me half an hour to get there because my GPS was not informed about round abouts which grow out of the streets like mushrooms ! Mostly only to disturb the traffic.

When I arrived  shortly before two there were already visitors lined up. I thought now it will take hours until I can get in  and they will ask me if I am tested or not, but not at all, a friendly girl checked that we all had a mask and disinfected our hands and that was it. So it went quite quickly.

Mr. G.'s room was on the second floor (on the picture on the right side) He can observe who comes and see all people.

I was really delighted when I saw his spacious room very light with a big shower room, of course TV  and telephone. He told me that the food is very good and that the nurses are very friendly and ..... there were enough ! There was no shortness in the personal !

I stayed  one hour and then I left because he became very tired and then he can't concentrate anymore on what he is saying. But I was pleased that he looked much better as when I had seen him shortly last time 2 weeks ago for his 80 birthday.

This ward is specialized for  people who had a stroke, or have paraplegia,  multiple sclerosis,  and Parkinson's disease.

I looked where the re-education takes place, one room is for physical exercises  and the other is like a schoolroom. There were also computers in the hallway. Everything looked modern and new.

When I left they gave me a bag with dirty laundry at least with the name on ! and there were no other laundry in the bag then his own not like the mess in hospital !

Very satisfied I left, took the wrong direction because as usual I went left instead of right although the female voice had told me to turn right, in short I went back to the clinic twice before I payed more attention to her instructions and finally arrived home !

SUNDAY SELECTION - ST GEORGE's CHAPEL IN WINDSOR

I visited the Windsor castle long time ago ! It was two days after Prince Edward the youngest son of Queen Elisabeth got married to Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999. I was visiting my son who worked in London and who showed me the castle on a weekend.

At that time I wasn't interested in photography that was far too complicated ! Buying a film, putting in the camera bring it to a photographer wait several days to get the pictures and then you throw half of them away, because one picture was too dark, too light or you had two heads.

So when I watched the funerals of Prince Philip, I remembered the chapel and all the flowers which were still there from the wedding.

I had seen the wedding on TV and was a bit disappointed because in reality the chapel looked so small to me. I also remember that I nearly fell down the steps.

And now I took the pictures from our TV screen during the funeral of Prince Philip and I realized now how beautiful the chapel is inside.
