HOPFULLY THE LAST FLU DAY

I am still hanging on my nose drops, or they are hanging from my nose, I don't know how many tissues I have already used, but I certainly helped to increase the production !

So it was another boring day, but tomorrow even if I am half dead I have to go out otherwise you can visit me in a madhouse.

I read some more pages of my book, I wished I could read more, but I fall asleep ! Now David woke up in an unknown place, prisoner of a guy who wants to blackmail his business partner and ask for money to free him. To prove that he is serious he cut off David's middle finger and sent it to his partner. Mike the partner got the bloody finger per mail and was horrified that David is still alive.

If I have nothing interesting to report for tomorrow, from my actual rather boring life, I will continue to report on my book.

FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

more participants at Susanne at Living to tell the Story.

1. There is no much to report this week because I stayed home and took care of a cold which I carried from bed to computer and from computer to bed. I continued to read a crime story I had started during my holidays with Claudie. The story started with 4 guys who celebrated the stagnight of the fifth called David. They had the nice idea to burry him in a coffin, leave him there for 2 h and then let him out.

2. Answered emails, prepared my posts, swallowed pills, felt lousy, slept for 2 hours and continued to read my book. The four guys had a car accident and were all dead. David after having slept because of all that beer woke up in his coffin.

3. Same as above, except that in my book now the police looks for David, who is still burried but alive in his coffin. He is thirsty and therefore drinks the bottle of Whisky his friends had left with him. He tried to get contact with the walkie talkie they had left him too. No answer.

4. Same as above plus a little TV in the afternoon, David is still in his coffin could contact a guy who is mentally handicapped and takes himself for a FBI agent.

5. Feel a little better, dressed in a jogging, worked on the computer, watched TV continued reading my book. The grave is finally found but the coffin empty ! Where is David ? He should have been at his wedding the day before. I suspect his bride. She behaves strange .../...to be continued (without cold)

THE MEANING OF "QUIRKY"

Jenny Matlock
more participants at Jenny Matlock's Alphabet Thursday

I don't know why, but I love the word "quirky" ! I heard it for the first time watching the BBC series "Escape to the country" where houses, rooms or even gardens where discribed as "quirky". This made me curious and I did a little research about this word and that's what I learned :

Quirky means a mixture of odd, unusual, eccentric, idiosyncratic, curious, peculiar, unpredictable, singular, fanciful, whimsical, capricious.

It is a word best used by one person to describe another. Those who apply "quirky" to themselves thereby call into question their very own "quirkiness" by seeming gleefully self-aware and that's why it makes me think maybe I like the word because it rather fits on me of course with some exceptions.

I also read that something or someone that is quirky is rather odd or unpredictable in their appearance, character, or behaviour. And quirky means: strikingly unconventional.

Some Quirky Quotes :

Everywhere is within walking distance if you have the time."

My doctor gave me six months to live, but when I couldn't pay the bill he gave me six months more. - Walter Matthau

It's not that I'm afraid to die, I just don't want to be there when it happens. - Woody Allen

A lot of people become pessimists from financing optimists."

I haven't spoken to my wife in years. I didn't want to interrupt her."

OUR WORLD

My visit to Aix en Provence (France) was rather short because of the Mistral a very cold strong blowing wind which makes you feel very uncomfortable. So we just walked along the main street and I got an overview of this old town. Read more here

WHAT DID YOU DO THIS WEEKEND ?

Helps you to remember what you have done on the weekend of March 10, 2012.

Compared to last weekend this was rather boring. When I came back I found our coffee made in the percolator disgusting, because I got used to the good coffee Claudie's Senseo Philips coffee machine made.

The new coffee machine

It really tasted like good Italian Espresso when you make a little cup and a good full big cup when you pushed another button.

Therefore I went coffee machine hunting and after 3 shops where they had been sold out or were far too expensive for the same machine I finally found one which was the same as Claudie's and the price was correct too. Now Mr. G. purrs like a big cat because he can make his espresso.

Since we had taken out the bushes along the house, the little window in the guest room needed a curtain, otherwise it was too light for sleeping. Dominique sewed me the curtain and helped me to hang it up, as I am a real zero in sewing it looks very nice and the room is dark enough now.

Sunday morning the weather was sunny and warm, so I took the bus and went to the Brussels market, just for a little walk. I didn't buy anything, but I love the atmosphere there. For seniors over 65 years, bus, tube and trams are free.

When I came home Mr. G. had a visit from a friend, who had some private worrries and wanted to have a talk with us. Finally he stayed until 3 pm but had arrived at 11 am. Unfortunately I think I start to get a cold, and didn't feel well, so I forgot to offer something to eat to the poor guy and Mr. G. didn't think about eating ! He is never hungry during the day but eats like a horse at supper.

We also talked via Skype to grandson Toby, he changes so much now it's not a baby anymore but becomes a toddler. It's funny to see that he recognizes us. Great invention when you live far from your family.

SKELETON FINGERS OR PLANE TREES ?

As much as I loved the palm trees at the French Riviera, I found the plane trees rather creepy !

They looked like skeleton hands stretching out to catch you, that's at least what I would have thought if they hadn't been in the sunshine and against the blue sky.

In the darkness they would be a perfect background for a horror movie !

Sleep well tonight !
