FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

1. My holidays at the French Riviera continue, and I enjoy the warm weather and the sunshine very much.

I live in Claudie's house. My room is just above, the shutters nearly closed to keep the heat outside. There is nothing around but bird singing and the chirp of crickets.

2. There is only one neighbor, her sister with her husband.

The house is on the other end of the property and you have a beautiful view on the sea.

3.

We live outside and Claudie's husband who adores to cook prepares us delicious meals.

4.

I blog and read on the patio, there are two of them, so I have the choice. It's far too hot in the sun. The bike behind me hasn't served yet, but the intention is there (not for me !)

5.

Late afternoon when it is a little cooler we go to the habour and have a drink there.

The evenings go by very fast, sitting outside and chatting. These are real holidays !

****
Today I had to get up at 4 am ! My plane to Marseille was at 7.30 am. I was limited with my luggage weight to 10 kgs  otherwise I would have to pay more then my flight ticket ! Therefore I put on 4 trousers and 4 T-shirts plus a fleece jacket and my coat. The trousers where for my friend, mine were in my suitcase ! And only one was allowed.  When I went through the scan, it rang. Without a handbag I had put all my things in the pockets of the 4 trousers. The lady who checked me got crazy when I emptied the 8 pockets of my 4 trousers. As she didn't find neither knife nor pistol or other weapons on me she let me go near a nervous breakdown.

When I arrived in Marseille it was very warm. I immediately went to the toilet and got rid of 3 pairs of trousers, I kept one and 3 T-shirts. I put everything in my suitcase and took my handbag out in which I put the things I had carried in the pockets.

When I had finished, Claudie just arrived at the airport to pick me up.

On the way to Ollioules where she lives we picked up her eldest daughter who lives in this charming place in the middle of fields with her boyfriend.

We had a nice lunch and sat on the terrace together with her two daughters. The crickets chirped, the flowers and plants around smelled so good ... I was in the South at the French Riviera.

Late afternoon we went to the beach and had an aperitif on the terrace of a little bar. There were so many tourist ! and the beach was packed ! Too many for our taste. We left after an hour and drove home, had a wonderful supper with grilled fish, Salad and roasted potatoes, cheese and a desert.

I went early to bed, after such a long day I was tired.

WHAT DID YOU DO THIS WEEKEND ?

Helps you to remember what you have done on the weekend of April 28. If you participate please put the little logo on the top of your post and leave your link.

I was still in France half of the weekend. Early morning we got a phone call from the restaurant Mafana neay Hyeres, that the cow had fallen down from the exposition wall ! Claudie and I quickly drove over there to repair the damage. Claudie was better then I in hammering stronger nails so I was just the supervisor.

We noticed that more people had left little messages in the "Golden book" and checked the other paintings before driving home again.

The so beautiful weather had turned into rain and it was rather cool ! But nevertheless Claudie wanted to show me the Salins-d'Hyères an area of salt marshes along the coast. They are one of the most remarkable natural areas of the Mediterranean shore.

These saline were operated from 963 AD to 1995 for the production of salt.

That's how they should have looked ! It's also a paradise for birds, but I didn't see any !

There was a kite competition going on despite the rain ! We looked a bit, and I took this picture of Claudie, her daughters and the boyfriend who hid behind the car.

Claudie's daughter Mélissa took these pictures of me, while I was walking back from my photo shooting ! It was so awful, that we decided to drive back and rather have a drink at the Sanary beach.

There the rain had stopped and the sun came out !

Her husband had prepared delicious Doner Kebabs which we ate with big appetite !

and the boyfriend who is a baker had brought these very yummy little cakes he had brought for me so that I could taste his work ! They didn't last long in the box !

Then came the moment to say good bye, and Claudie drove me to the airport in Marseille. It was still raining and cold ! My flight was smooth and I could work on my photos.

Mr. G. was waiting for me in SUNSHINE ! It should have been the other way around, as the French Riviera is rather famous for its good weather !

From my four cats only Rosie showed that she was happy and took a nap, while I rested for a while and watched TV while Oscar the Robot mowed the lawn !  Nature  had changed, the grass had grown and flowers were blooming ! It seems that spring has finally arrived !

I unpacked my suitcase and went early to bed ! What a wonderful break I had in my routine life ! Tomorrow I will certainly be full of energy !!

What a work ! Fortunately I was able to help her as I am used to prepare expositions, but still we worked for two hours choosing the colors preparing and her Dad hang them on the wall !

and here was the final result Mélissa and I were quite satisfied

The visitors arrived at 6 pm and there were quiet a lot !

SKELETON FINGERS OR PLANE TREES ?

As much as I loved the palm trees at the French Riviera, I found the plane trees rather creepy !

They looked like skeleton hands stretching out to catch you, that's at least what I would have thought if they hadn't been in the sunshine and against the blue sky.

In the darkness they would be a perfect background for a horror movie !

Sleep well tonight !

EXCURSION TO THE CAPE SICIE

In the afternoon we went together with Claudie's sister and her husband near Six Fours where we climbed up high into the mountains to the Cape Sicié . It represents one of the most southern points of the French Riviera. Its summit is 352 meters, and on the top sits the chapel of Our Lady of May, and it is also the culmination of the highest cliff by the sea in Europe.

It was rather hard to walk up but the view from there was just breathtaking, although the weather was a little foggy over the sea.

Still a few meters to walk to get to the summit !

Going down was easier but we all were happy to sit down at the beach in Brusc a little town at the sea.

When we came home we changed into our "evening dresses" the Kaftans I had bought at the Brussels market, which are in velvet, very warm and comfortable. The fire in the stove was burning and it was nicely warm. After supper we watched a French Crime story !

EXCURSION TO BANDOL

As the terrace is not yet built, I put a chair in the window and could take the first sunbath this year ! I even needed suncream. I was dressed in layers like an onion and from a thick cardigan over a sweater and a T-shirt I finally sat there wearing only a little sun bath top.

while Melissa Claudie's daughter had still her winter clothes on, she had to change later.

After lunch we went to Bandol a little town at the sea very much appreciated by tourists in summer.

But at this time of the year there weren't many. People played boccia, or cleaned their yachts and boats. Unfortunately at the seafront many old mansions had been destroyed and replaced by buildings with lot of flats for tourists. We made a long walk and then sat at the seafront and watched the people walking by.

Claudie's husband Pierre was busy with digging a trench to place a gate. Very hard work with this clay soil.

We had a wonderful supper with stuffed zucchinis, red and green pepper and tomatoes, grilled with olive oil and provincial herbs.
