Pookie and Rosie after the visit, soo tired

Yesterday my girlfriend came with her little 3 year old grand daughter of course for my kitten Rosie. She hadn't seen her for a while and was enthousiastic that now she could play with little Rosie. After a while she came to me and started her "why ?" questions. She is now in an age where every sentence ends with "why ?"

First she asked me why I don't wear my glasses. I answered I don't need them now, only for TV and driving. Ah, she said "why" ? Patiently I tried to explain why. At the end of my explanations the unavoidable question came "why" ? I tried to change subject and asked her if she liked her "school". Kindergarten is not allowed to say, that's for babies.

She said she liked it very much and that she has a lot of little friends. But ... but what ? I asked. She made a very misterious face and whispered "you know boys are standing while they pee" Hrrm, yes that's true indeed. "Why ?" she asked me.

Now I have to admit I never thought about that and tried to find an adequate answer. She said, "look they do like this !" and put herself in a typical boy pee position (not pole position) Yes, I said, they do it exactly like that. "Why" she asked. I don't know I answered, I always had wondered about that, because they easily could do it in sitting. "Why ?" Because it's more comfortable than standing up I told her. Yes, she said but they have a little tube and I don't have one. That's true I said, because you are a girl and little girls have no tube. "Why ?" she asked. Because, I answered, they are born like that it's just to show the difference between a girl and a boy. (I was very proud about my answer !) She looked very thoughtfully and then turned to Mr. Gattino and asked : "Do you also have a little tube ?"

GETTING HUNDRED & FRIDAY FEAST

Pookie waited for guests, but nobody came, there is no Friday Feast today !

This morning I waited for the menu for Friday Feast as usual on Fridays, but nothing new came up. As it had already happened that our cook overslept, I thought I wait a little longer. But time went by and still no new menu. Finally I checked her main blog and read there, that there is no feast this week because she is on holidays.

And while I was looking for another subject, I tried to find something on "Blog Things" and suddenly this question jumped into my eyes ! I always wanted to know if I will live until 100 and as I have my birthday on Sunday it came on purpose.

Apparently I will make it ! It's not that long as some Bloggers will live because they are already 250, but still ! It's good to know that I will live for another 5 years !

Pookie take notes of the laste mice news

Every morning I read or I "overfly the news" on Belgian Internet home page. Since I became internet addicted I wouldn't touch a newspaper in paper anymore ! Filled up with news and updated I then can start my day.

In the local news this morning I read that our King feels as good as a fish in water just after his hip operation. He had broken his hip ! I imagine that he climbed out of his golden bath tube slipped and felt on his oriental rug. Can even happen to Kings ! Of course the whole country was worried, (except those who are for a republic) sent flowers and his children with respecitve wives and husbands visited him in the hospital. I don't know if he lost his crown while he fell on the floor.

I also was informed that an airplane with 400 turks on board was still sitting on the ground because the passengers had started a fight with the board personnel which had fled from them and locked themselves in together with the pilote. I found this rather funny and thought about 400 excited turks and the hidden stewards and stewardess in the pilot's cabin !

Finally the airport police calmed down 400 turks which probably hasn't been that easy and put some order in this mess, but now the pilote didn't want to fly anymore, they all had to wait until another crew from Turkey had been sent to Brussels !

I also read that now in Belgium there are 68.000 millionaires ! Not bad for such a small country with only 10 million inhabitants. Unfortunately I am not (yet) amongst them.

In the world too things happened. Mr. Blair replaced by a Mr. Brown a scott but without skirt. They say that he is more serious and less glamorous then Mr. Blair. A pity I like glamorous people ! And as a starter he got a terrorist attack. Poor man.

Then my eyes got big like tennis balls, when I read that in the States one person from 133 is in prison compared to 1 of 1000 in France. Apparently it is the country of the most criminals in the whole world and the number of criminals is as high as the number of inhabitants of Lettonia. (Must be up there in northern Europe, I never was very good in geography) Sad record I have to admit.

I finished my cup of coffee and opened my emails !

MANIC MONDAY - INDEPENDENCE

There are still people who consider women to be inferior to, or less than, men. The view that women were weak was passed on from one generation to the next. However, some ancient civilizations knew powerful women. For example, Queen Hatshepsut ruled Egypt as a mighty pharaoh in the 15th century BC.

It was quite a hard work for women to get their independence from men. Not very long ago, unmarried women were not considered very well and also depended very often from their family. Since women work, make carrier in all domains even in politics she has acquired her independence too.

The reason that there are so many divorces in the past 50 years results from the fact that more and more women were working, earned their own money and didn't depend from their husbands anymore. If something went wrong, she could divorce because she had the independence for that.

In the generation before a woman had no choice, she had to stay with her husband, even if he was a monster because she had no means to live of her own. She would have to ask her family to support her but not all families were ready to do so and most of the time the woman didn't say anything because of the shame she would bring over her family. A divorced woman was an outsider exactly like a woman with a child and no husband.

Fortunately this has changed a lot and today a woman if she wants to is as free as a man at least in our western world. Theoretically, because in real life it looks sometimes very different.

When I was child and grew up I realized with the time how dependent my mother was from my father. She had nothing of her own and he even gave her pocket money ! She didn't know how to fill in a check or pay per credit card (she didn't have one either), she couldn't drive, he would never have allowed this, in short she would have been unable to exist of her own. He told her this on each and every occasion, that without him she was nothing.

This influenced my character for the rest of my life. Never ever I wanted to be dependent on a man I swore to myself. And that's what I did. I lived my life after my rules and didn't care about what women should do or not. I had my financial independence and therefore my freedom. Maybe I was critized for that especially when I wasn't married yet, but I didn't care. And one thing is for sure I never ever regretted one thing what I have lived in the past.

And as a conclusion it is sad to say but real independence and real freedom you can only get when you have money !

DIANA's 46 BIRTHDAY

Today a big birthday celebration is going on in London in honor of Princess Diana who died already 10 years ago in a car crash. Thousands of music fans are expected at a London concert in her memory on what would have been her 46th birthday. It will take place in the Wembley Stadium and will commemorate her life.

Elton John and Take That are among those performing at the show, organised by her sons William and Harry. I am glad that these poor boys who lost their mother at such an early age finally do celebrate her birthday the way they want and in the sense of their mother.

I only wished I could have seen the face of "The Queen" when they announced their project. As far as I know she isn't very honored by her children, she never cared about them either.

I always remember how badly she behaved when Diana died. I was in London in 1997 just after her funeral and the country still was under shock. I went to Kensington Palace where she had lived and there I got a shock ! The whole park in front of the palace was covered with flowers, toys, cards and letters. I had seen a few pictures on TV but in real it looked even more big ! Never ever in my whole life I have seen so many flowers. It was a whole sea of flowers which covered the parc. Many people were there still crying and moarning it was very touching.

Then I went over to Buckingham Palace, the residence of the Queen. There too flowers, flowers, flowers and toys, especially Teddies covered the pavement in front of the Palace. It had been said that all flowers would be given to hospitals and retirement homes and the toys to orphanages. But suddenly big garbage trucks showed up and shoveled everything on the truck. There people started to get very angry, they tried to stop them and voices started to insult the Queen and that she should go. It really was terrible I thought a revolt would start and I was amongst the furious crowd. Police arrived and tried to calm down the mass and finally the garbadge men went away leaving a very angry population behind.

My son knowing that I liked Diana bought me things like stamps or a mug especially made for her death. I found that very cute, because he doesn't care very much about "royals".

If today the Royal family, and even the Queen is a little more modern then it is thanks to Diana.

Today for the concert about 450 policemen will be on duty. Police said security at the event had been stepped up in the light of the attacks on London and Glasgow.

Prince William and Prince Harry toured the stadium on yesterday to oversee preparations for the event, which is expected to be attended by 62,000 people. If you wish you can follow the whole concert on BBC this afternoon.
