WEEKEND

Ever since the renovations started in our castle, we have some very funny incidents which,  honestly are not funny at all. While we were having our coffee, suddenly a man appeared dressed like Adam but without the leaf appeared in all his glory !

Nobody was especially surprised, except perhaps me, because it had never happened since I am here. A nurse scolded him gently and led him back. The man said friendly good bye and disappeared with the nurse.  Hopefully in two weeks the section for the severely brain damaged residents will be finished and closed with a code. Meanwhile we can just help. But there are some people who are afraid of them and are not happy at all. I was "used", I had seen the same in the home where Rick was.

This night I heard someone screaming, but that happens, people dream. I didn't move,  because Rick did it when he was ill. The screams didn't stop but I could suddenly hear "help ....". So I jumped out of my bed, followed the cries for help and heard that they were coming from the opposite room . It was a woman who had fallen in the restroom and the bell didn't seem to be working. I promised to get her help and found a night nurse. I didn't feel like going back into the room and certainly not into the toilet it didn't smell like roses, the poor nurses see a lot of human misery! I went back to bed and fell asleep straight away, even though Rosie thought it was time to play with her mice. 

 

On Sunday we had cloudy, but warm weather and could sit outside. Our Italian Mamma had her birthday and her eldest son had invited the whole family which was composed of around 60 people. Although most of them didn't speak Italian anymore because it was the 4th generation, and they were Belgians now, but the blood remained Italian they made a lot of noise. I felt like I was on vacation when we visited Ricks family in Italy, everyone was talking loudly and no one was listening, and the talking hands were moving at full speed. I could speak Italian to some and was happy that I hadn't forgotten, it all came back. Rina was so happy to have her whole family around her and I spent an excellent afternoon.

Saturday the weatherman was wrong again, instead of clouds and rain, it was sunny and warm. I had to go to the pharmacy to buy the oil I put in cat Rosie's dry food then she is not constipated. This works very well. Then I drove a bit around as the air quality was not so good for me for walking. 

After lunch I went with my tablet and scrabbled in the sunshine, before we started our games.  

Sunday it was cloudy and humid, but warm. I preferred to stay inside and still worked on my new blog, I hope next week it will be finished. Then we played a very interesting Quiz, with rather difficult questions, but we were not so bad. 

Two residents had been hospitalized, because of the gastroenteritis, she had lost weight and had a poor little face, the other is still in hospital.

And the weekend was over. Time flies by so quickly.

WEEKEND

I should leave a white photo here which without any explanation represents the weather we had over the weekend ! There was so much fog that you could hardly see the trees. The park still looked white, but everything on the paths had melted away and there was black ice everywhere and you could see lots of accidents on TV.

Isn't that a beautiful weather ?

We didn't see the fog, we played cards

We sat in the warmth but this weather makes you tired. On Saturday we played "Win 1 billion Dollars" which was a question and answer game, we didn't win the billion but made it to 97 thousand $! Not so bad.

Sunday was no better and not many visitors came either, the roads were still slippery. But we had a good time and the time went by quickly.

WEEKEND 

On Saturday I was like a zombie, I did the minimum of what I had to do, fortunately Maria did the rest.

I hadn't slept very well so after lunch  I watched a short film at least I thought so. I suddenly woke up, the TV was off and at first I didn't know where I was, I was so deeply asleep! That was my Saturday.  

Sunday was completely different, In July I had already booked 2 tickets for November to see the show "Cirque du Soleil". I was lucky I managed to get  2 places in the middle and had a perfect view. All other places were already booked, remaining were the very cheap once where you could hardly see or the very expensive once, 400 € ! A little too much for my wallet. 

I had never seen a Circus like that, usually it was always with animals which is not allowed anymore, but the humans were far better than animals who belong in the nature and not in a circus. 

I went with Isabel, who always takes care of me  to thank her for all she does for me. She calls me every day to know if I have no problems and also does paperwork for me

Everything was perfectly organized. Very good organization, you couldn't get lost, water fountains, very clean restrooms and everywhere signs. 

Our places were perfect we were just in front of the stage and also near, not too much otherwise you get all the dust in your face. 

Unfortunately my photos didn't show how wonderful and amazing it was, so I made it easy so that you can see it too, I found it on YouTube ! Anyway it was not allowed to take pictures.

The artists were like they were made of rubber..  Sometimes I had to hold my breath or screamed with the others !

WEEKEND 

Saturday I waited for an interruption of the rain, which didn't come. I was still worried about how to organize my move into the retirement home, which I call "MY CASTLE" because it had been one years ago. And then everything was solved from alone ! My landlord had sent me an email to announce that after 3years he has the right to increase the rent. Not much because there is an index. I thought that is a sign to make my decision and give my notice. Then I have 3 months to empty my apartment. I had hoped that my son would at least come and see me because  I needed a bit of support, finally it's a big change in my life to go into a retirement home. But men never understand (only one exception and that was Rick) Oh well, he is good in practical things and I am sure he will help me with the move,  but he doesn't even get the idea to comfort his old mother. 

It's not just him, most of the sons, if I listen to  the widows around me are like him.  Daughters are different. I have to take him as he is, he probably hasn't changed at all, but I have ! He forgets that I don't live 10 years anymore and that time is pretty short. Except that a miracle happens and I turn 100! Poor guy, I think he still thinks I'm 40 or even 20! Mothers have no right to get old, they have to stay forever young. And men hate difficulties and problems.

Luckily I have Isabel who comforts me and always find a solution! So from November on, if everything goes well, I'll move. A room is already ready, even if it's not what I want, it's only temporarily.

Nearly the whole afternoon I spent with looking for an example to give my notice, I had never done that. But as always Google finds the answers !

 I had placed an ad for Rick's office. I also promptly got an offer that was so stupid that I immediately noticed that it was a scam. He wanted to have the money brought to me by the postman who would also take the furniture! I replied that he might be able to take a bedside table and that the post office doesn't have trucks, please contact another victim! That didn't stop him from asking again and I suggested he use a Toyota Aygo as the truck!

The rest of the day I spent on the phone !!

Sunday was dedicated to my beauty, or what it's left of it, I washed my hair read some posts and then it was already noon. In the afternoon a certain Janine came, I didn't know her at all, but apparently she did, because she reads my blog ! It turned out that she lives just on the other side of the street, what a coincidence. It was very nice to meet her, finally it was a vintage girl who also spoke English, and we didn't run out of subjects to discuss. She was also interested in Expositions, theater and photography. Just as I. Now in August she goes to London and I don't know yet what I do, if I go to Eastbourne or not; it all depends what the lung doctors says. 

The weather there is just like here maybe in the second half of August it will change. Hopefully !

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

Last time when my grandson was visiting me, he disappeared with his friend, while we chatted. Suddenly they both showed up and Toby shouted "Nonna, we have counted your cats in the whole apartment, you have 401 !!! Here are a few examples 

 

All people who know us think that I started the cat collection, that's only half of the truth. Rick loved the little cats too so when somebody asked him what I liked for my birthday or Christmas or whatever, he answered that I liked cats. So everybody offered me cats and on top he bought cats for me (the once he liked) 

In over the 50 years of marriage you can imagine that there are more than 401, the rest is in cartons in the basement, I wanted to sell them and then Rick got sick and we were locked in for two years. Therefore they are still there.

Rosie is not part of the collection !
