FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

I had to go to the city hall to get the codes for Mr. G's identity card, as he doesn't remember and I can't find them nowhere. I needed them for the tax declaration.

My neighbor came over at 4 for a cup of coffee and we sat on the balcony and chatted. This was the last time I used the balcony this week !

Scrabble day, first a little rain then sunshine and we could sit outside under the  Pergola and eat our cake after having played. Chantal because of her two sons is a football (soccer) fan and had put two little Belgian flags on her car. At the end of the afternoon a thunderstorm arrived and we drove home. We were quicker home then the thunderstorm, but then it was in some parts of Belgium a real catastrophe with flooding, mud and destroyed houses.

Fortunately in our district there was nothing except a bit water in the garages.

The next day began real bad ! I was still in bed at 9 am which I think is a normal time for a vintage lady when it rains cats and dogs outside ! Of course the phone rang it was the social assistant who wanted me to look for a retirement home for Mr. G.

Without coffee I first didn't understand what she exactly wanted, she told me that now he is ready to go into a retirement home. I sent her to hell and said I first want to talk with the doctor before I do or say anything. She said she would send me a brochure with the names of all retirement homes here around.

When I was fully awoken, I got really angry ! After all, it's her job to organize a decent place for him and first also ask me in which price range.  I was so furious that I didn't even know what to do ! Nursing homes were just as strange to me as as a new lighthouse. I decided not to do anything anymore and hid behind my short crime stories on TV. Of course the first one I found was called "Murder in a nursing home"  ! Exactly the right thing for me !

The only "excursion" I made was going to the mailbox on the first floor and found a packet in the mail box with some new "feathers" (clothes) which raised my mood. I had ordered them such a long time ago that I had forgotten. I was very happy with what I had ordered and the most important thing was, they all fit !

Until Monday I have decided I forget the social workers and retirement homes otherwise I will get crazy and they can look for a place in a madhouse for me !

HODGEPODGE JULY 1

1. It's been said the best things in life are free...are they? What are some of those things?

I would say, Friends, smiles and laughter, happy memories, and love,

2. Stars or stripes? Red, white, or blue? Apple pie or home made ice cream? Do you like hotdogs? If so, what do you like on yours?

I prefer stars in the sky but stripes on a painting. My favorite color is Red, white is not a color.  I am not a fan of apple pie, but love ice cream, home made or not ! I also like hotdogs just with a bit of mustard.

3. One thing on your summer bucket list? Any plans to make it happen soon?

It all depends on Mr. or Mrs Corona's colors !  (no scientfic has found out if it is male or female) Probably I'll make little one day excursions and take "sunbaths" in shade on our balcony. If it would be possible I would go to Egypt in November, but as I said, it all depends !

4. What's your summer anthem? Yes, you need to have one.

I don't know any anthem not for summer and not for winter. Sometimes I pick up a song in the morning which somebody sings and then it stays in my mind the whole day !

5. What's something you love about America? If you live outside of America, tell us something you love about the place you call home.

About America I love the different landscapes, the Canyons, deserts, rocky mountains, etc. About my place I love that it is very green, surrounded by a lot of woods, fields and little lakes.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I think about the papers I have to fill in, the invoices I have to pay and the shopping list and not to forget the laundry I have to do and bring to  Mr. G.

THE STORKS OF CHELLAH MOROCCO

In Rabat  is a district called Chellah which was built on a Roman city which was discovered during excavations. There is a lot to see in Chellah and it is really beautiful ! Perhaps it is precisely because of this that hundreds of storks have chosen to build their nests here.

Never ever in my life I have seen so many storks at once. They were everywhere ! Those who believe that storks brings babies should go there and  order some, there are more then enough.

I have visited Chellah while also visiting Rabat on a tour around Morocco's main cities you can read more about Rabat and Chellah here.

AWWWW MONDAY - WEEKEND JUNE 26

*******

We celebrated the birthday of one of our painting group member (forgot again to take pictures and on purpose) I parked my car opposite of the restaurant didn't see the "sleeping policeman" and fell with full length on the ground, on my nose, forehead, ellbows, hands and the worst were my knees ! I hadn't seen this dammit thing. Two women helped to pick me up and I sat down for a while because I felt dizzy. It was a miracle that my glasses were not broken. After a while I got up and slowly walked to the Restaurant's entrance.

Nothing hurt so far except one knee, we had a wonderful Chinese lunch and were 5 all together. At 3 pm we finally left and I went home. The first thing I wanted to do was to put creme on my knees so that they won't swell. But when I took off my trousers I saw that my left knee was open and I was bleeding like a slaughtered pig. The blood was all over the leg and it kept bleeding. The fabric of the trousers had sucked it up ! I hadn't seen it because of the dark colors.  Finally, I stopped the blood with compresses and put a thick bandage around my knee. My leg hurt a lot but then it got better in bed.

The next day I got out of my bed, hopped to the door to open for Maria the cleaning lady and then lay down because my whole body hurt now ! Fortunately late afternoon it was better and I could do a little shopping for  what I immediately needed.

On Sunday all my bones hurt,  I took a hot shower and thought it would make it better, but not very much and I had to drive to Mr. G and bring him fresh laundry and take the dirty one with me. He was not in a very good mood somebody had talked about the retirement home and he thought he had to go there next week. It took me some time to explain that it was not for now but in weeks or months depending on his  health. Some people really don't understand that he has difficulties with the days and month. He lives day by day. I was quite angry because it took me some time to calm him down. I asked him to come with me to the little restaurant downstairs and have an ice cream or coffee sitting in the sunshine on the terrace. Myriam had come with me just because she thought maybe I would feel unwell, but everything went smooth.. Unfortunately Mr. G. didn't want to come with me there was nothing to do but he waved to us. He was so tired because of his agitated morning where he worried about the retirement home and now wanted to sleep. Even his beloved Formular 1 didn't interest him.

Bevor talking to a person with Parkinson one should inform himself how to handle and what to say to people with this disease. They think they do good and there are just doing the opposite.

After this spoiled afternoon I drove Myriam home who tried the whole way long to comfort me and then I just had the energy to finish my post.

Happy  times 1971 and last year
