FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

I think from now on I can copy and paste my weeks, because we are  almost in lockdown again, they call it half but I think we will follow the other countries over the weekend.

On Monday I felt like a car without motor I had no energy at all to do something, besides my Blogging work and that was it. The rest of the time I spent watching TV and looking out of the windows because the view had changed again.

We met with Myriam and chatted the whole afternoon, trying to avoid the all too present subject : Coronavirus. Now the hospitals are getting full but even worse is the fact that the personel is infected and has to stay home. They are talking about taking the doctors of the army, perhaps it's already done.

The fact that this is the second time makes people very depressed and on top it's cold and it rains. The first time it was spring and warm and you could sit outside. Finally I dragged myself to C&A to buy a long sleeved T-shirt which I needed, had a glance on the other stuff, but didn't buy anything. The only wish I had was returning home !

Otherwise I take pictures especially from my window view because now I discover houses I never saw because of the leaves and this morning even a lady in her bathroom preparing breakfast in her kitchen ! Very interesting the neighbor watch !

To finish the week we gathered in my home and  they all discovered the houses which suddenly are visible through the half naked trees and I forgot to take pictures of us eating Belgian wafels with whipped cream.

Had never seen this house across the street !

and another house appearing !

Now I understand why I had heard so many voices during the summer, these are people who mostly have a swimming pool and they had fun outside !

My neighbor house from where I can watch now the family in the kitchen ! Nicole wanted to offer me binoculars for Christmas, but I have already a pair (not yet used I promise)

and even far away on a hill there are buildings !

I bought a fish for Rosie, which moves around when she touches him, there is a charger in his belly and I have to charge it with an USB key. Unfortunately the fish is too big and each time he beats his tail, poor Rosie is scared and runs away. These were the exciting weekly adventures of a half locked down vintage lady.

WEEKLY HODGEPODGE

1. Boo, boo-hoo, make a boo-boo, boo(ze)...pick one and tell us how it relates to life lately.

Last Sunday my Grandson whatsapped me and before I opened the camera I quickly put on this mask

and when he saw me I said : Boo ! He wasn't shocked at all but laughed his head of ! He is 10 ! For once I wanted to scare him but it didn't work.

2. Do you like the color orange? Would we find this color in your home? Your wardrobe? Peach-pumpkin-tangeringe...your favorite shade of the three listed?

I love orange ! When you come into my home you will see a lot of orange, red, a warm yellow and violet.

3. October 28th is National Chocolate Day. What's the last chocolate something you tasted? On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being out of this world delicious, how would you rate it?

I live in Belgium which is said to have the best chocolate in the world ! I am not a big chocolate fan but it is probably true. I love the famous "Leonidas"

 4. Life is like a box of chocolates or so says Forrest Gump's mama. Would you agree? Aside from the pandemic fallout tell us one way this saying has played out in your life.

I have never heard what Forrest Gump's mama said, and that's good so because I am not a "sweet" girl. I like fruit cakes but not so much chocolate. If mama is right, then I can't complain about my chocolate box, looking back on my life. Of course I had some roller coaster periods, but they were not long and long forgotten.

5. As October winds down tell us three things you loved about the month we're bidding adieu

With October starts the time that I hate the most. I can only say that I love nothing not even three things  ! The colored leaves are beautiful, but they will not last and the tree does a striptease !

It rains a lot and there are strong winds, but from time to time there is a bit a sunshine too.

The summer clothes should be put away, but it happens that we have summer temperatures up to 25° C and the next day 10 °C ! You never know how to dress, the best is like an onion and take the layers off when it gets warmer.

Unfortunately I can't tell you three things which I loved in October, because there was nothing to love !

                                                                      Me in October ......

6. Insert your own random thought here.

Not only I don't like October and November, I just support December because Christmas is in view with a lot of decorations and usually also beautiful Christmas markets, but all this is not for us this year ! The Christmas markets have all been cancelled, and Father Christmas is probably wearing a mask this year, or he refuses to come at all not to get the virus and be sick for the next year too !

This year grandparents and parents living far away will get Christmas Internet gift lists with a link to the wanted gift ! That will be quite new ! We oldies have to learn and modernize and certainly not insist that "in my time it was better". Fortunately I am open to everything new and don't regret old toys or handwritten Christmas lists.

The worst would be if we all have to stay home and wish each other "Merry Christmas" with a kiss on the screen ! and don't forget to disinfect between each kiss !

WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

The animals you see here are all living in the “Zoo van Plankendael which is an atmospheric zoo in Belgium, not far from Brussels, with nice scenery and animal shelters, all divided into 5 continents. Nice viewpoint where you can see the giraffes, beautiful elephant enclosure, koalas, beautiful African village with bonobos and much more.

Fortunately the Animal parks remain open for the public but only for walks outside. And of course the restaurants and Snackbars are all closed due to the Coronavirus half lockdown !

MY CORONA ARMCHAIR TRAVELS - RED SEA EGYPT

Instead of getting better it got worse in Belgium mostly in Brussels. We are not yet completely locked down but it's just like. Besides shopping you can't go anywhere, or yes in the woods, as everything is closed. So I continue to dig in my travel memories and wait for better times if ever this will be possible again !

I have been very often in Egypt, at least 15 times. Egypt is the ideald country for travelling in winter and have always sunshine and high temperatures. I had heard that it is a paradise for divers so we booked an underwater boat with a glass floor and windows, which dived and we could admire the beautiful and very coloful sealife

This is how the boats look like and we sat around and looked down into the water where we were surrounded by beautiful corals, a ship wreck, and lots of colorful big and small fishes !

The back of the ship with the turbines

and lots of little fishes

a diver who waved at us, some were even knocking at the windows

AWWWW MONDAY - WEEKEND OCTOBER 24

Linking to  AWWW MONDAYS

Weekend October 25

What a weekend ! First we got new instructions how to behave to fight against the Coronavirus ! And as Belgium is such a big country that it looks like a flea poop on the world map, they managed to divide it into several regions with different rules, which makes it not very easy for the population to follow !

In Brussels they are more strict then in the Walloon region and less strict then in the Flemish part of the country. At least for the curfew they agreed now on 10 pm until 6 am which doesn't bother me, that's anyway bedtime for me.

On top of all these nice News which are not always correct and very much exaggerated to scare people, it is windy and rainy. Our March lockdown group decided to do the same now, not to get depressed we meet each other every two days to laugh and chat. Outside we wear masks, keep distance and desinfect our hands, if you have to or not,  we don't listen to this crazy government which doesn't know what they want. We can't do more. Anyway we can order meals from our favorite restaurants they bring it home to us, and it is not more expensive. That's nice for us and good for them to continue to work although they had to make changes ! We started yesterday the three of us Nicole, Myriam and I and it was nice to sit together now in the warm spacious living room with a coffee and a lot of laughter ! At least we won't end up in a psychiatric hospital !

At home my view changes every day the trees loose their leaves and change colors.

Now I have a better view on the neighbour's swimming pool which is covered now !

To keep little Rosie busy I bought her a fish which has a charger in his belly and I can charge it with the use of a USB cable. Then, when she touches it a bit it shakes his tail and turns around and poor Rosie is so scared that she runs away. But when it doesn't move anymore she comes closer and sniffs carefully ! I hope she will get used to this new toy !

On Sunday we wanted to go to the market but it was raining too much, so that we thought it's better to stay home.

On my way to pick up Myriam I saw that autumn had really arrived ! The tree in front of her house looked really funny !

In the afternoon Nicole had invited us and her cousin a retired baker had prepared delicious "Merveilleux" once again.  We had a nice afternoon while Mr. G. was scotched on the TV screen watching his beloved Fomular 1 !

My son had called, in Amsterdam the rules are nearly the same as here, they are both working at home and Toby can still go to school but it is not so sure if they will keep the schools open.

And another weekend went by !
