FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

Monday my hairdresser came and cut my hair which had grown quicker then usual ! Mr. G had spent  his weekend at the hospital and seemed to be quite satisfied. That changed on Monday evening when I called him, he wanted to come home ! I told him that it was impossible and that's not my decision but the doctor's.

I tried to recover from the last stressing weeks and only drove my scrabble girls to the only one who lives in the next town. I still am the only one  who loves to  drive, so I am the "chauffeur" !

In her garden spring had slowly moved in we could observe all kind of birds drinking out of the little pond.

After our game where we all had almost the same points and two cakes with coffee, I drove them back to  Waterloo.

We noticed a that the Japonese Cherry trees had started to bloom. It was sunny bad rather cold

On Wednesday I did some shopping, and also bought 5 T- shirts for Mr. G.which I brought him in the afternoon. No way to visit him I had to give my bag with the laundry to a nurse and got the dirty one back. Amongst the dirty laundry I found some clean once, he hadn't noticed the difference.

I did the laundry and also called him in the evening, but he was angry that he was not allowed to come home. The tests with all the machines have not yet been done. Sometimes he is a bit confused and then normal again !

Myriam came and we watched a few movies about the Acrylic painting in modern Art. It was funny what the painters used ! Nail brushes, spatulas, clothes pin, squeegee for windows, etc. Everything except a brush !

Today I finally could talk to the doctor who takes care of Mr.G and she told me that he is a special case (that I knew) they did a lot of memory tests with him and apparently he answered well to things which normally people don't know and those which everyone knows he didn't know !

Our governement has again restricted our lockdown, now the hairdressers are again closed and all "non essential shops" ! Of course it's never their fault, that they hadn't ordered enough vaccins ! I decided not to watch the news anymore !

Fortunately when I go out and see that spring really tries to move in, I feel a little better !

The fields look beautiful

and I "planted" fake flowers in my cat pots, it looks really nice. The furniture is not yet put up it's still a little to cold.

I don't know if you have seen the eruption of a volcano in Iceland with a meter long unspeakable name but as you can see I was there !

In  my dreams and sitting on the sofa taking pictures of the TV screen !!

SKYWATCH FRIDAY

As I said in a post before, since we moved into our apartment on the 4th floor I have the impression to watch skies and seasons in a home cinema !

Now we go towards winter, and the trees are loosing their leaves, which makes the skies sometimes even more beautiful !

Sometimes I think I just could copy and paste my weekly reports ! It's always the same !

Our scrabble took place in a new scrabble member's house, unfortunately I forgot to take pictures because it was quite special. Especially the inside decoration. In the very huge living room was the kitchen corner but then nearly no furniture at all. In a corner were two orange sofas and all over the place were 3 different little round or square tables with 4 chairs, all in another style and in different places. On the walls hung her very beautiful self painted modern paintings. I had never seen such a fancy interior, but it felt really cosy inside. Although the weather was grey outside it seemed that light flooded into the interior through the enormous windows.

This time I had a real bad game, always very low numbers and of course I lost. The game took quite some time and afterwards we had a delicious apricot cake.

I did the laundry as you can see

and that nobody talks about "good old times" !!!!

Mr. G's Whist friend, who is also my friend invited us and Nicole for an afternoon chat. Poor Mr. G. was alone amongst the 3 chatterboxes and was certainly regretting not to play his whist on the computer ! And the poor girl thought she would do him a favor by inviting him so that he wouldn't be alone at home .... But he enjoyed a delicious strawberry cake and of course got the biggest part.

Monique wore a beautiful silver necklace of which you could take off a piece and wear it as bracelet. The clasp looked very easy when she took the necklace off, but then to get it together, Mr. G. and Nicole worked at least half an hour and got angry and excited because it had seemed so easy and they couldn't find out how it worked ! As they are both very stubborn, they absolutely wanted to find out the solution without any help. It took a while but then they found out, had to laugh and were angry at the same time because apparently it was very simple !! I didn't even try, I would have thrown the necklace on the table I have no patience or fix it with a wire !

I ended the week with creating Easter cards not in paper but for emails and stated that you have to pay now for most of the "photoshop" companies, which in the past were free. Or you have to subscribe. Finally I managed, not exactly what I wanted but it's better then nothing.

Grey and rainy skies between Belgium and France

No sign of spring whatsoever we started the week with our scrabble, at least we had some fun. There was a newcomer a red haired full of temperament lady which made us laugh all the time. She won, and Nicole for once lost. I was in the middle !

The sun came out and I thought hurrah, now I can go out to do some photohunting, but when I put my nose outside, there was such a wind that I almost blew away.

Even cat Arthur hurried back in the house when I had opened the window door. We had been full of hope ... both. When I think that last year at that time we complained about a heat wave !!

At least we are a group of friends and can visit each other. This time I went to Cecile whom I know since 1961. She had recently moved near Waterloo so now we can see each other more often. We digged out old stories from when we were young and went out dancing. It was a nice afternoon, for both of us.

The week ended with a trip organized for the seniors by the city. This time we went just across the Belgian border into the region of Avesnois in France where we stopped after 2 h drive for a café and croissant,

As you can see from the picture it wasn't very warm and we felt all better after a hot cup of coffee and the croissant.

After that we visited a Museum of textile, with very old machines and it was really very interesting, but made us hungry too.

We stopped in a restaurant called "La Forge" (the forger) and had a delicious meal :

Apperitif, seefood as starter, veal with different things, and a "Dame Blanche" (a white lady ?)

The next stop was a glass blower factory where we could see how little figurines, bowls or vases were made. There were also very machinery but less of interest to me and Nicole.

Unfortunately it was very cold in this factory which was a pity because as we were all freezing we wanted to return to the bus.

It had been a very interesting day and I will report in more details in a separate post.

At 7 pm I was home again and we all had spent a very nice day.

This time our weekly scrabble was at Mireille's home.

Her dog Tosca had a surgery nothing very serious but has to wear this very elegant T-shirt, so she doesn't leak her wounds. Of course she took the opportunity to ask for cake, as she was soooo sick !
As usual we had a very nice afternoon.

Nicole is full of energy since our Egyptian holidays and wants to do a lot of changes in her apartment, and replace or repaint her furniture. So after lunch we went into a furniture store where she was looking for a cabinet with an built in bed ! These kind of cabinets you find easily in Germany or Holland because the rooms are so small but not in Belgium.

Something like this, because she has no extra bed for visitors and I told her if ever I have to spend a night at friends I couldn't even come and knock at her door ! Unfortunately we found nothing and probably have to go to Ikea, they are specialized in furniture for very small rooms.

Our aqua gym animator (a young man)  was in great shape, too much for us vintage ladies, so we asked him if he had taken some energy pills or drinks ! He replied that he doesn't need it but we do ! We had a lot of fun but the next day I realized that I had used muscles which apparently I don't move normally and it hurt a bit. Good for the health !

For the moment in our painting class quite a lot of students are missing. Two "girls" have cancer, and are absent of course  One is our teacher and with her there is no hope anymore and she is in palliative care. We are all very sad. She is such a sweet and nice lady and was such a good teacher. All we can do is call her and cheer her up. I only hope that the other will recover.

We have a roller coaster weather and therefore a lot of sick people. The flew came back and lots of people have bronchitis. The temperatures are zig zagging between 13°C and - 6° ! Each time when we think that winter is over it starts to freeze again !
Everybody is so fed up ! It seems so long this year.
