CHAOS OR NOT YET ?

Yesterday was a big party going on the "Grand Place" of Brussels ! The buildings were all lightened with the UK flag colors.  Most of the people there regretted the Brexit and all together sang "Ce n'est qu'un aurevoir" (It's only a good bye) a Scottish song

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And days of auld lang syne?

Refrain
For auld lang syne, my dear
For auld lang syne
We'll take a cup o'kindness yet
For auld lang syne

It was a mixture of all Belgians and UK citizens but also other Nationalities. Over 4000 English citizens became Belgian, and the number increases because they lived in Belgium since the UK joined the EU. They have their families here and only go on holidays to England. They don't want to take risk and be forced to return "home".

I watched the "Party" on TV.

All this is only theory, now we have to see how it works in practise .........

Manneken Pis

and a few cartoons

Get out of the way ! We close again !

  1. I really wonder how it will go. My sister is allowed to stay in the UK and if I had lived there, so would I. Moving there now however, will be completely different. I think it is a big mistake, but time will tell...

Thanks for the views from "across the pond." My US citizen daughter recently moved to the UK on a spousal visa. She and her UK citizen spouse and many, many other Londoners and people of the younger generations are very upset to be leaving the EU. There is so much that isn't known about what will happen next. It's scary, sort of like living in the US now, but that is another story...

  4. Thanks for the lovely cartoons!
I have the feeling the EU is relieved now. UK has turned into a heavy burden.

  7. The editorial cartoons are hilarious.

Brexit itself counts as one of the dumbest ideas in the history of dumb ideas, and the Brits are going to regret it.

  8. Watched the British celebrations on TV last night and now I have seen the Brussels jokes and celebrations so thank you for that. I love Auld Lang Syne and would have been singing along too and hoping things will work out for the best as I'm sure they will.

  9. It now over to big business. They will do what benefits them the most and it probably won't be making people go back to where they came from if the don't want to.

  10. A huge post war change just when the EU needs support during its own positioning within the unstable global dynamics of these times. It’s instigated possibly by much misinformation about outcomes. There is a song that says, “You don't know what you've got 'til it's gone.”

"I`ve shagged literally hundreds of the worlds most gorgeous birds (obviously) but i must admit i`ve NEVER seen anything quite like the 17 year-old Pauline Hickey from 1985, if i could`ve tit-fucked that bird 34 years ago my life would`ve been complete, the bird was mind-bogglingly incredible and totally astounding"

  13. I went to a party on Friday, a party only for remainers. We were all very sad and gloomy. I have settled status so I hope I can stay without problems. The trouble is I am too old to go back to Germany, I wouldn’t even know how to get from a to b in the Strassenbahn. I wish I could leave and if it gets very bad I might go to Ireland or some other European country. I have my German passport and will never give it up.
