The Abbey of Villers la Villers la ville was built in 1146 (you can read more here in my COUNTRY & CITY Blog) and is often used for operas, exhibitions, festivals etc. The ruins make a beautiful decoration for all events. This year there will be not very much, maybe exhibitions as it is in open air.
As usual I have to dig in the past, when a Medieval Festival took place in the ruins.

I love the geese. It looks as if they are being directed by the geeseherd in front! Any minute now they will open their beaks and start singing a happy song.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't cochon mean pig? If so, that is a funny name for a saint...
Great photo of herding geese.
ReplyDeleteRuins of brick and stone look more beautiful with age it sometimes seems. What a fantastic festival, from the costumes to the geese that appear to be a choir on the verge of singing!
ReplyDeleteOne day in the not too distant future we will return to enjoy these events. In the meantime we have to rely on our memories and old photos.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely!
