FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

I am a little confused with holidays in the middle of the week, so I take Monday for Sunday and Wednesday for Saturday etc. I am all the time looking at the calendar, fortunately I am not the only one !

Our son has the week off between Sunday before Christmas til Sunday after New Year, so he could stay a little longer, while my DIL returned on Sunday, she had to work on Monday.

On Monday 5 of our Scrabble group had a get together for Christmas at Khadijah's home. Although she is Muslim she had decorated her house with Christmas tree and ornaments and it looked very cosy. We all had brought a cheese plate and also a cake and the drinks, so she didn't have any work and we had a lot of fun.

Nobody could eat anything for supper !

The next day before leaving for Amsterdam my son and Toby came for lunch and we chatted until it was time to leave. Fortunately there was not too much traffic and they arrived rather quickly.

I forgot to take a picture before they left, but Toby handles his Dad's camera already like a professional ! The only hic is that I always get winter pictures in summer and the other way around. And when I ask for two photos I get 20 and when I ask for photos of a whole week I get one !

We spent Christmas Eve alone in 50 years, I mean the two of us and the two cats. But in life it is always a first time. Honestly I didn't care,  I was invited by Nicole who was alone too,  but too lazy to get up from my sofa to join my friend, when Mr. G. went to bed as usual at 9 pm.

I watched a show on German TV and was surprised how much Christmas had changed !  It had taken the good and funny Christmas uses over from the States  and even had translated songs like "last Christmas" into German which sounded a bit funny to me. I watched almost til the end, but went to bed before.

A part from the laundry which has to be done too from time to time, I spent most of the time in front of our TV or the computer, I was not really tired, but felt a bit KO and therefore very lazy ! Even moving a finger takes an enormous effort !

Rosie is like me, to do or not to do (something) that's the question .....

WEEKEND REVIEW October 17

This weekend we had the visit of our son and grandson. They arrived on Saturday morning. Unfortunately the weather was cool and very humid

After lunch, Toby has a very good appetite, we watched a little TV

Before we met with my son's friend and kids in the "Kid's factory"

We adults sat in the café while the kids had a lot of fun and were rather tired when we left after more than 2 hours.

Before supper, Mr. G. accomplished his grandpa duties, and played football (soccer) with Toby

I don't know who won, but according to the screams they enjoyed the game very much. Mr. G. had some difficulties to get up again, he has become a little (very) rusty.

Our son took the opportunity and went out, meeting with a friend, while we babysitted. In fact there is not very much to babysit, because Toby is very autonomous and does everything himself. There was no problem with going to bed neither. I left the light on a little and he was very proud when his Nonno gave him a pocket lamp in case he wouldn't find the switchers.

On Sunday after lunch, Toby cleaned the dining room and vacuumed the crumbs.

In the afternoon the sun had come out

So we went for a walk to the Abbey of Villers la Ville. It was the St. Hubert's day the protector of animals and there was a celebration in the morning. Animals were blessed and in the afternoon there was a folklore feast.

We missed the animal blessing but we visited dogs who couldn't use their hind legs anymore.

Toby was very impressed and watched a video of them on TV when they walked with their kind of "wheelchair"

After that we listened to the music and had a drink with all the people who were there and it was real fun.

Toby got a puzzle to put all European countries in the right place

I helped him a bit, but gave up quickly, although he couldn't read the names of the countries, he found where to put the pieces much quicker than I did.

Dad and Nonno tried to find the right flags for each country, but I got the impression that they both needed to revise their geographic knowledges.

We had a very nice afternoon and ended the day with a cheese fondu.

FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

1. I decided that my "to do" list could wait, we had 25° and a wonderful sunshine, not really a day for things to do !

Instead I went to Ilona and showed her some pictures of my holidays in France. We sat on the terrace and I admired her beautiful little garden. She knows each and every plant and flowers and there is always something blooming in her yard.

2. I finally went to do some shopping as our son with grandson will arrive for the long weekend.

In the afternoon I mowed the lawn while sitting on the terrace and read my book. Oscar, the robot did all the work !

3.Nicole and I have an agreement. If the sun shines but the temperature is only 18°C we sit on her terrace, if it's very warm she comes and we sit in our garden which is more airy. This time I went to her because the air was rather cool.

4.
Charlie was very happy to see me after such a long time and brought me immediately his latest new toy he got because he had been at the groomer for the very first time ! His fur was as soft as silk. Then he sat in front of the cabinet, looked up and whined. On the cabinet was his toy basket. As he insisted and he is very stubborn, Nicole finally took a ladder, carried the basket down and put it on the floor. Charlie with a waving tail, pulled all toys out and brought them to me one by one. I was very honored !

5. The next day we had a little visitor our grandson Toby together with his Dad

After playing with his toys I keep here for him and two new airplanes he rested a bit and watched TV

Mr. G. had given him a torch which he studied intensively. Unfortunately it rained but they both went for a visit to his little friend. In the evening his Dad took the opportunity to go out with a friend and Toby and I watched a cartoon on TV. I loved his pajama !

It went very well his French has very much improved and we had no communication problems. Once I had put my pajama on,  he went without any protest to bed.

And me too !
