WEEKEND

On  Saturday the whole personnel of the castle from the cleaners and gardeners to the management brought their children for an egg hunting ! It was really funny how excited the little ones were with their baskets in their hands.

We had the occasion to see our nurses and the others without uniform and they presented us their children. A little girl brought me a little bouquet of dandelions and a little boy an Easter egg, I didn't know them and felt like Princess Kate who gets on her knees and receives gifts from the children !

Everybody had a lot of fun and the park was a wonderful place for Easter egg hunting !

A very tall nurse played the Easter bunny I didn't recognize her only later she told me who was in the bunny costume !

a resident friend and I sat in the sunshine, we had unbelievable good weather 24° !! and watched the kids running around and bringing the eggs to a grandma or great grandma !

Everybody helps to find the chocolate eggs !

The ambiance !

At 5 they all left, leaving a mess behind, not paper or cans but the chairs and tables were all over the terrace and park. I was very tired and was at 8.30 in my bed, but couldn't fall asleep ! I think around 2 I finally made it.

On Sunday the temperature had dropped to 15°C no wonder that people get colds ! I did my papers, payed my invoice and then went down for the activities. We played Bowling ! I won twice and another "girl" 92 too ! In fact we didn't play so badly ! We had to play inside in our huge restaurant with keys and balls made out of foam rubber. I didn't even know that such a bowling exists and we had to get used first. But for playing inside it is really great.

This is Philipp who won three times !

Rosie was surprised that over night the trees became green and little birds were singing. She also watched the man who always feeds the 3 cats just opposite the window ! That's her TV !

This is a miracle ! Yesterday this bush had just tiny little green leaves and look what it became over night !

Weekend April 20

Our garden still looked like winter so I gathered the last energy which was left in me and "planted" flowers in the pots ! To my surprise it went rather quick and in an afternoon it was done with a lot of breaks !

As I hate garden work but love flowers and sit in a nice garden, I put the fake flowers from last year in the pots, some I had to replace because they had lost colors with the hot and sunny summer we had last year. Now it looks colorful !

On Easter Sunday I expected my son with family and I decorated the garden in the morning. I hang fake eggs in the shrubs and hedge, made a Easter bouquet and hid Toby's gift in a basket in the garden.

The Easter table

Toby searched for eggs and chocolate bunnies and a gift of course. I had bought a training football. He was very happy with that.

After lunch we went to visit Mr. G. in his reeducation center.

As he had his birthday last week, he got a beautiful Swatch watch, which besides measuring how many kilometers you walk, your blood pressure, heart beats and ALSO shows the time and date, as birthday gift from his dear son, and in order not to be short on T-shirts 3 more T-Shirts. Now he really has enough. Toby and Mum read a bit, I listened to the explanations for the watch. Then we had a birthday cake, fortunately I had brought paper plates with me and also glasses, only the cutlery I had forgotten.

Late afternoon we returned home and then they continued to Amsterdam and I fell half dead on the sofa. It had been a little bit too much for me.

EASTER IN AMSTERDAM

In my part of the world we celebrated Easter this weekend, together with our son and family in Amsterdam - Ijburg. Unfortunately the weather was awful and we couldn't go out very much.

The house was nicely decorated with an "Easter tree" and of course tulips every where. It's the season now for the famous "Tulips from Amsterdam"

On Sunday morning after breakfast Grandson Toby started to look if the Easter Bunny had brought some eggs !

I had brought this Easter bunny

Then he started searching, first outside, but there were only some chocolate eggs which we had to pick up quickly because it started to rain and wet Easter eggs are certainly not so good.

But then he found a big parcel ! Inside was a Lego "Nexo Knights" ! Was he happy !

He immediately started to put these little things together and in no time it was done ! I couldn't believe it ! He is 6 and that thing was for 8 to 14 years old, in my case it would have taken the rest of my life to put it together. Now don't ask me what it represents, when I was a child we were afraid of monsters, and today kids love them !

He also likes to help in the kitchen and decorated the breakfast eggs.

My DIL had made Easter Bunny head pancakes, which I found very cute, Toby helped rolling the croissants together and even the rolls had the shape of an Easter Bunny ! I had never seen that here in Belgium.

In the afternoon we tried to go to the beach. They live close to the sea. It must be very beautiful there when it's warm and sunny. There is a huge terrace outside and you can look over the sea.

It was also very cosy inside and nicely decorated a lot of people had there Easter Brunch there.

This part of the land is quite new. It had been "stolen" from the sea. In 2014 a new phase in construction began, new groups of houses were built and the land is being extended to accommodate a series new buildings.

When complete, the neighbourhood will have 18,000 homes for 45,000 residents and should also include employment for 12,000 people. As well as homes, schools, and shops; leisure centres, restaurants, a beach, and a cemetery are planned.
