WEEKEND

Saturday I almost found my "normal" life back ! During the third lockdown and my miseries with Rick our groups had split. No news anymore from the painting club, neither from our Facebook meetings, where we met "life" several times per year. 

But on Saturday I was invited by a Facebook friend who is also such a cat fan like me ! I had already been at her home years ago to admire a new kitten she had adopted. This time I was greeted by a ginger cat with a round friendly face ! He rubbed it against my legs and purred when I petted him. When my friend opened the door he ran in the house. Then she told me that it's not a her cat but a visitor who lives a few houses farer ! All her cats had passed away, she had 3 and two of them were killed by a car. It had happened just 3 month ago and she and her husband were still very sad. There was another lady too and we chatted the whole afternoon about our Facebook group friends and what they had become.

I deplored that we didn't have our Waterloo Facebook meeting anymore and she told me that it is because the founder of this group refuses the vaccine and can't go in a restaurant. I never had thought that from him  ! He also had changed, we hesitated between the 3rd puberty or a Covid crisis, because now he has his hairs until his shoulders and looks like an old Hippie. I hope the crises will not last too long anyway sooner or later he will be forced to be vaccinated or stay in a cavern.

Others had surgeries of broken legs (mostly stairs) some broken relationships and other gossips. With that we had a self made apple ccake which tasted delicious. When I returned home I was feeling good, it's a long time that I hadn't laughed so much in one afternoon !

When I came home I found a picture of Toby with his new sweatshirt, this time the right one ! It was Basket and not football ! (soccer)

And when I opened the terrace door because Rosie wanted to drink her rainwater, the sky looked so special

I watched a nice movie and went to bed followed by Miss Rosie

On Sunday it was time to visit Rick. He was not very well and it was not so easy to understand what he wanted to say because he mixes up the  words, his television can become the telephone and I have to change the channel. He is still very agitated and can't sit or lay down for 5 minutes, then he gets up and wanders around. I stayed an hour and then I took his laundry and returned home.

I made this selfie to send it to our son. Rick tried to smile but that's all he could do ! When I arrived home Adeline came over to know if it went well and how Rick feels, she also wanted to say hello to Rosie who she really loves. If ever I have to go away I have no problems to find a kittysitter ! Rosie loves her too !

WEEKEND  

This weekend was the first Christmas, a little bitter sweet, because Nonno Rick was missing at Christmas Eve.

I had tried my best to make the living christmassy, although I didn't have a big Christmas tree we used to have.

On Christmas day, we went to Rick's retirement home, where a nice table was dressed for us and other residents with their relatives

Rick was in quite a good mood, at least he really tried ! He even had a glass of Champagne, which was certainly not good for him, but after all it was Christmas. My DIL took the pictures of the four of us.

 

After the Champagne the menu was served with red or white wine, As first starter a deer paté, and a veggi mousse for my DIL.  The second starter was lobster soup (Bisque d'homard) then a piece of roasted turkey with grilled witloof and little potatoes. I forgot to take a picture !

The dessert was delicious it was a "Merveilleux" didn't find a translation !

Miss Rosie watched the whole Christmas ceremony from her basket and didn't even ask for a little treat from our menu ! 

I had never thought last year that we would be still masked and our life restricted. I had bought this Father Christmas as souvenir of a bad moment in our life, I never believed that this situation would last so long ! 

This masked Father Christmas will be a precious antique (at least I hope so) in a few years !!

AWWWW MONDAY - WEEKEND DECEMBER 11

 Arthur loved to ride in the car and made sure that everybody behind us saw him ! He also loved to steal food, it tasted better !

WEEKEND

 

Saturday I tried to sleep a bit longer, because I hadn't slept very well during the night, but of course at 7 am I was there impossible to fall asleep again. Outside it was dark like in a moles hole, but it had snowed a bit !

It looked beautiful and I thought I will stay home today, but then I had to visit Rick which I usually do on Saturdays. Now I really fear to go there, each time he seems a bit worse to me. Now he has a wheelchair which at the same time is also a walker. But he didn't want to get up and preferred to stay in bed. He looked very tired and also was quite confused. I had bought him a few Christmas decorations, but except for the Father Christmas, he showed no reaction. 

I stayed for a little more then an hour and then I saw on his face that he wanted to sleep. He is often very tired. I left and returned home.

Rosie was waiting for me but didn't collaborate to make a selfie with me. Each time I thought she was looking in same direction she moved her head !

On Sunday it was so humid cold and dark that I didn't want to go outside. Instead Adeline my neighbor and I went to the basement and carried up our Christmas decoration. I didn't even remember what I had bought last year, because I had left all old Christmas decoration in our house. Now I regret I few things. For Adeline it was the same. But then my energy had left me again and I just did decorate a bit. Tomorrow is another day !

These are all little table decorations, and the advent wreath, Adeline gave me a little fake Christmas tree which I still have to decorate. I am happy that we have made up our Christmas program, my son with family come to celebrate with me on Christmas Eve so that I am not alone, that would have been difficult and then on Christmas day we will see how Rick is feeling and if we can take him home at least for a couple of hours, but that's not sure at all. But sometime miracles happen !

WEEKEND

This must be the last weekend of November and hasn't been better then all the others before ! Cold, grey, humid, with maybe two exceptions.

Lots of retirement homes are closed due to the new virus variant which South Africa has kindly send us over with a lady coming from Egypt ! I start to be jealous, the virus travels all over the world without any restrictions and I am not allowed !

I found Rick in his bed as usual, he still can't get up, but he has good appetite ! He ate two packets of fresh ananas cubes (2 x 250g) three Brownies and a Banana ! That was a good sign, that he asks for fruits and cookies. 

That took me the whole afternoon, anyway there were so many people underway that I didn't want to go into a shop ! And I start to believe that cars get babies, because there are more and more and the center is completely congested ! Fortunately I know all little streets to avoid the main streets. 

I don't know if I am old fashioned but the speaker at the Television is always uncombed ! I mean even if he has curly hair he should choose another hairdo ! It would have been impossible even only 10 years ago that a Television speaker as kind and friendly as he may be, would appear in front of the camera unshaved and uncombed. That's called "cool" probably. 

On Sunday morning when I wanted to put on my slippers I saw that it was already occupied ! Cat Rosie had put her toy mouse as a morning gift in my slippers ! Isn't she a caring cat ?

In the afternoon we had our first neighbor meeting in my appartment. We were three, one living on the third floor and Adeline and I on the forth. She immediately adapted herself to the two of us and we had a very nice afternoon talking about our travels we all had travelled quite a lot, our husbands, Louquette (the new one) had lost her husband 4 years ago he also had Parkinson. We also had a discussion about religion and to my surprise I learned that Joe Biden is the second catholic president of the States ! 

Here as everybody is anyway catholic, this had never been a question. 

We promised to help each other and I was  already hired as driver. Except Adeline who is 84 Louquette and I have the same age. Adeline never learned driving and Louquette only drives in short distances.

and here we are I even had light a fire in the TV ! Makes the room warmer, must be psychological.

Due to the still present Corona Virus, my other friends have left our little Scrabble group, Nicole is getting more  and more sick, and Chantal went to Egypt, unvaccinated ! She does keep to her wish even if she can't go out at all, everywhere the Covid Safty ticket, as it is called here is requested

After this nice afternoon Rosie and I watched some funny cat videos before we both went to bed !

On Saturday my insisting phone calls and after having extorted the email adress of Mr. G's doctor, I got the answer that the health insurance had  sent her the copy of the disappeared permission and it was YES ! Was I happy, because they will do the scan on wednesday and then hopefully find the right medication.When I talked to him in the evening I found my old Mr. G back, he wasn't confused at all and could even tell me when they will do it.  Apparently it is a very special Scan one belonging to the nuclear medicine and you can do that only once in your life !.

After all the stress I suddenly felt so tired, but I had to go shopping and dragged myself to the supermarket. After that I didn't do anything anymore ate something watched TV and went to bed!

Our son had sent birthday gifts for his Dad who unfortunately will celebrate his 80 years in hospital alone, maybe we can talk to him via Skype they have a special service for that. Anyway I will bring him one gift and several little cakes he likes because a birthday cake is too difficult for him to handle. 

This is the watch which is perfect big numbers and the date that's all he wants and red of course ! That's the only thing I will bring to hospital, because you never know, expensive things especially in geriatric wards, can easily be stolen, not by the personal of course but by the patients. 

In the afternoon Myriam came and brought me the birthday card I had created for him, our printer has no ink anymore I have to buy some.

We watched our program of abstract Acryl painting and were amazed what beautiful paintings you can do with even a tooth brush !

Nicole is also still in the hospital. She had an epileptic seizure which was probably caused by the tumor in her head. She'll probably be on stronger medication. So getting old is not always nice when you are healthy and your friends and acquaintances suddenly get all sorts of diseases! Oh wonder nobody I know was in the hospital because of the Corona virus!
