Linking to AWWWW MONDAY
WEEKEND
This weekend was the first Christmas, a little bitter sweet, because Nonno Rick was missing at Christmas Eve.
I had tried my best to make the living christmassy, although I didn't have a big Christmas tree we used to have.
That's the Christmas tree, small but cute and the gifts fitted parfecly under the "tree"
and here we are the 3 generations
The traditional "Buche de Noël" which my son had bought as dessert
On Christmas day, we went to Rick's retirement home, where a nice table was dressed for us and other residents with their relatives
Rick was in quite a good mood, at least he really tried ! He even had a glass of Champagne, which was certainly not good for him, but after all it was Christmas. My DIL took the pictures of the four of us.
After the Champagne the menu was served with red or white wine, As first starter a deer paté, and a veggi mousse for my DIL. The second starter was lobster soup (Bisque d'homard) then a piece of roasted turkey with grilled witloof and little potatoes. I forgot to take a picture !
The dessert was delicious it was a "Merveilleux" didn't find a translation !
Miss Rosie watched the whole Christmas ceremony from her basket and didn't even ask for a little treat from our menu !
I had never thought last year that we would be still masked and our life restricted. I had bought this Father Christmas as souvenir of a bad moment in our life, I never believed that this situation would last so long !
This masked Father Christmas will be a precious antique (at least I hope so) in a few years !!
Merveilleux is a meringue, cream and chocolate dessert. It's similar to our pavlova dessert, named after the ballerina Anna Pavlova. It looks like Toby will be as tall as his father.
ReplyDeleteYour cat came out of the dishwasher lovely and white. What detergent do you use?
Sounds like your Christmas was pretty wonderful with family and even your hubby doing fairly well on that day. We always love that white cat, so good looking!
ReplyDeleteToby definitely steals the show.Your son is a copy of the young Rick of the photos you've displayed in your last week post.
ReplyDeleteOh my dear friend, I miss our interaction. It's good your son, wife and Toby were there for your Christmas and it was good to see Mr G. Yes, I looked around last week and thought, will we EVER have open faces again. That Santa will be a collector's item. I loved seeing Arthur (Sadly, I lost Ambrose this year, my last male cat) and it's good to see Rosie is still doing kitty things like sleeping. Well done on acquiring it. Please pop over to my blog. Merry Christmas to you, Jo
ReplyDeleteSorry can't open your blog, it's only showing "Jo", no picture no description nothing.
DeleteAwww on your precious kitty. I love the first one the best. Got to make sure those dishes are washed properly.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had time with your husband and it was a pretty good day for him. I remember all this with my mother and father.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week, Gattina. Scritches to the kitties. ♥
What a silly silly cat! Luckily you did not turn on the machine! Your family is very sweet and you are so lucky to have them visit!
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see you and your family with Mr G. Toby is getting very tall. They grow so quickly.
ReplyDeleteYour son is tall.
ReplyDeleteI looked at the NORAD Santa tracker site a couple of times over Christmas. Their Santa was wearing a mask.
You had a wonderful family gathering, and it was very festive at Rick's residence as well. You have made some new precious memories.
ReplyDeleteArthur was a silly kitty, eh?!
And Rosie was as nonchalant as ever...snoozing away!
Merry Christmas...a few days late! Now we are preparing to usher in the new year!
