AWWW MONDAY - WEEKEND FEBRUARY 1

  AWWW MONDAYS

 *********

This weekend was rather boring, it was dark, it rained and we were all locked in. Nearly everybody remind in their room, me included, I felt so tired that I fell asleep for 2 h ! Then I made me a very strong coffee (I had taken my coffee machine with me) drank the cup and then went downstairs were a some people were also complaining that they were tired. So we discussed a bit, the son of my 100 year old friend comes every day to participate in our animation program, only Saturday and Sunday we can do what we want, so we did nothing.

I had thought to play scrabble with some people, but then I also was too lazy and we discussed the farmer's strike ! How romantic. At 4 pm everybody disappeared in their rooms to rest for the supper at 6 pm. I also returned toy room and looked for a new header, then I surfed a bit on the net, chatted a bit with the girl who brought me my supper, and then I went to bed and read on my tablet. Rosie found this far too early and started to play and meowed, so I put my earplugs in the ears of course, there is no other place, and continued to look at my pictures. This gave me the blues and I couldn't sleep !

Of course I had no sleeping pills and finally fell asleep, I didn't hear when the girl brought my breakfast and woke up at 9.30 am.

WEEKEND

Besides the food shops since this weekend Garden centers and DIY shops are open now too, which caused again a hysterical rush on all kind of products except the so famous toilet paper. The shops opened at 8.30 but at 7 am people already lined up to be sure to get something ! I saw this on TV because I am not crazy enough to go the first day for buying seed or a hammer, and line up for hours ! The distance between the people was respected, guardians watched !

I spent most of the time on TV and computer but also on the telephone, it rained outside and it was quite cool, no way to sit in the garden like the days before !

Another hysterical fashion broke out : self made masks ! As there are apparently not enough masks for everybody women  with sewing skills were asked to sew as much masks as they could ! I don't understand, because Mr. G. went to the pharmacy and got another 10 masks without any problem. Now we have 20. Maybe they are not self made and not out of fabric, but for what we need it's enough. It's only for shopping and that doesn't last long. The mask is supposed to be efficient during 6 to 8 hours and with that we have largely enough for at least two or three days before throwing them in the bin.

Of course the fabric masks are washable and you can make them out of all kind of fabrics, with flowers, points, stripes or whatever and even fitting to your clothes ! The problem is now  that you can't find any elastic bands anymore !

On Sunday it was grey and cold, so we met at Nicole's. We were talking about the masks and poor M has to sew 6 for her daughter and family. N can sew but is too lazy and I am both !

There are some funny masks to do, and if ever we all have to wear a mask once we are let free, then I would prefer a funny or an elegant one and not a blue or white mask !

For fun I had taken a meter with me and before we sat down I measured the distance between M and myself and N took the picture.

Now that the death and infection rate drops, the psychological problems raise. Several help lines have been set up to help people in difficulties or who just need to talk.

There are more centers and houses  which welcome women who escape domestic violence.

Another 2 1/2 week to wait and we will know if we will remain confined for longer or not. At least we try to make the best out of this situation, it's not always fun to be in a cage although we are lucky our cages are rather golden.

AWWW MONDAY - WEEKEND MARCH 7

WEEKEND

This weekend I had the feeling that I was in a wrong film. I was sitting on a cloud and looked down to myself.

Cat Arthur's dead and the rush of potential buyers of our house, made me feel exhausted and I escaped to Nicole to change walls and at the same time I admired the new cat tree which Isis has gotten for her third birthday.

In the evening I looked for apartments on Internet just to know if there were a lot on the market which were suitable to us and fortunately there were. Our estate agent and friend had called telling me that there was a buyer and that it was sure to 99 %. It was a couple of Boston (!!!) who was interested in our house, apparently she was Belgian and he Italian and they had lived in Boston for a long time and wanted now to return home. A friend of them thanks Whatsapp filemed our whole house and explained what the lady on the other end was seeing.

I thought how wonderful new inventions are now you can visit a house sitting in Boston on your sofa and "walking" through a house in Belgium.

Sunday we were both exhausted and missed Arthur of course. We were both hanging around not really knowing what to do. Finally Nicole, Myriam and I decided to go to the cinema there was a very funny film called Papy sitter. It rained outside and it was cold so the ideal time for a funny movie when we were all in a lousy mood.

Fortunately we laughed a lot, it was the story of a 17 year old girl who had to do her High school  diploma. As the parents were away they had asked the two grandfathers to keep an eye on the girl and help her studiying. One grandpa was a Military and the other a Night club owner. You can imagine that they had not the same opinions of education.

So finally the day was safed and after a drink together in the Cinema bar, we returned home. Of course no Arthur was expecting me on the steps. It will probably last a while until I get used to that.

WEEKEND FEBRUARY 29

As usual in the last 4 or 5 weeks we had storm and rain always on weekends and this one was not different. A little less wind but still rain. I wonder from where all this water comes !

It is a real joy to turn on TV when you get up ! Besides the raindrops against the windows the bad weather is confirmed by the TV station which makes it even worse. 3 raindrops become pouring rain.

Then comes the Coronavirus, that's the favourite subject to talk about. Nothing else happens in the world anymore except the wandering virus and the statistics per country which increases and make people worry more and more.

Of course they tell you not to panic,  but they are real panic makers and it varies from TV station to TV station. No other disease counts anymore Corona is the tip of the top !

Instead of critisizing foreign fashion, it turns out that in times of need they are the most efficient clothes to protect you against the virus !  Covered like this you can go out as usual and do your shopping or sit in an overcrowded bus, you risk nothing.

An other advantage is, you don't even have to wear a dress underneath, comb your hair or put on make up !

In the afternoon I hoped the rain and wind would stop and I could go to the Grand'Place in Brussels and watch the carnival parade.

Of course it didn't stop. I turned on the Grand Place webcam and saw a few ants running over the screen and a mini procession of maybe 15 people. Otherwise the place was empty, I just cut out the part where some people were.
Instead of freezing and getting wet, I remained in my sofa and watched Vera

a serie which I like very much. So the day went by and I had done nothing, which is nice from time to time.

On Sunday Chantal had her birthday and had invited our Scrabble group and two other girls. She had prepared a delicious meal, a wok prepared chicken with rice. Before we had an aperitif with various snacks.

We spent a very nice afternoon, mostly laughing which was very good for all of us, time flew by and at 6 pm we said good bye and returned to Waterloo.

Instead of each buying something we had put our money together and had bought this beautiful buddha !

She can put it inside or outside just as she wishes, and dog Sheena liked it also very much, maybe she will become a buddhist now.

 WEEKEND

The "historical" moment has arrived, it's the last weekend of 2019, next weekend you have to get used to write 2020, but you have until Wednesday for an intense training !

I think I am not the only one who is happy that all these festivities are finally over, and our stomachs will get back to normal food. When I read what people eat during Christmas I am full for the whole year !

On Saturday I just had to buy a gift for my cleaning lady who will become grandma and I found two very cute baby pyjamas ! The problem was the color and the pattern, as the young couple wants a surprise baby and not know if it would be a girl or a boy ! I would have been far too curious, but when I was pregnant it had always been a surprise you couldn't know. After that I went to Nicole for a coffee, it was quite noisy as new neighbors moved into her building just on the first floor.

Sunday the temperature had dropped and the grass was white not from snow but from frost. It was so nice and warm in my bed with Rosie as feet warmer, that I only got up reluctantly to clean up the mess which old Arthur had made during the night, the poor cat has the same signs as humans when they are very old.

The afternoon was rather cheerful, we played our Scrabble at Myriam's we were only four, because Mireille didn't want to leave her husband alone in the apartment which had been burgled and they were still under shock. Khadija had brought self made Morrocan cookies which tasted delicious and were not too sweet as they are sometimes in Northern Africa.

In the evening we watched Inspector Barnaby's nephew discovering a murder, the amount of the murdered people remains steady the average is always three. But I guess in the beginning they were four. But I assure you there are still some people left in the different villages.

I wish you a happy and healthy New Year and a new hairdresser for the two in the picture
