hereFor 2000 years at least the whole world smoked ! Feathered Indians their peace pipe, fat chinese their opium pipes, posh people smoked their cigarettes in elegant cigarette holders and it was very chic !
Now you are a banned outsider if you dare to smoke, it's almost like if you had the black plague. From the garbadge man till a high positioned politician everybody takes care of your health. People you don't know are concerned about your well being, you may have a cancer that doesn't matter but no cigarette in your mouth.
This said I am not a smoker but I try to be tolerant and I think everybody should be. Janka our cleaning lady from Poland has a lot of humour and brought this ashdray back from her holidays and offered it to Mr. G. who ... smokes !

The only thing is, it doesn't only caugh when you put ash in the ashtray, no it caughes and shouts when you don't even think of it ! It must also work with light or movement. So when we watch a crime story and the killer takes a knife, lifts it up and the blade twinkles in the sunshine .... our ashdray caughs !

Ha! Ha! it's the first time I can admire a such ashdray!!! Like you I think now it's too much with the cigarette! People who smoke become as dangerous and crazy!

ReplyDeleteI used to smoke, but quit cold turkey, 11 years ago! Not one drag since then. My asthma is better too.
I don't think anyone can make that choice for another, but that being said, I do like to eat in a restaurant without smoke in it, while I eat.
I am not a smoker, but I need an ashtray like that. That is funny. :D

That is tooooo funny. I know a lot of people who could use this as a reminder of what cigs can do to you. Easier habit to start and hardest habit to quit! Not to mention the price.

ReplyDeleteI thought you DID smoke... I thought you had mentioned it to me once... I chain smoked for 20 years -- but I quit 17 years ago. Never regretted quitting!

ReplyDeleteThough I agree with you, it's almost like persecution of smokers - after all it's an addiction and not that easy to stop smoking, so I think we could have some pity with them at least!
