WHIRLING DERVISH
Just take a look at this amazing Whirling Dervish ! The video only takes 4 min but it is really worthwhile to see what he does ! It leaves you wordless ! I filmed him in Egypt at the Red Sea.
The dance lasts for about 20 min !
This shows while he whirls around until his two skirts are flying above his head.
(Attention, however, to your loudspeakers if somebody is in the room or sleeping the music could be too loud)
and for those who have a little more time here I show you how he starts and put himself in a kind of trance. (1 min)
Greating the spectators after the show ! Not dizzy at all !

Whirling Dervishes are very interesting. I wonder how they manage to turn and turn around without even feeling dizzy.
ReplyDeleteJust watching him was making me dizzy!
ReplyDeleteHappy WW!
wow, very impressive!!
ReplyDeleteI love watching cultural dances of all sorts. Happy WW to you.
ReplyDeleteNow that is an unusual talent. I would have been on my behind a long time ago. lol
ReplyDeleteI wanted to see him walk off the stage.
Happy WW!
Cool! :)
ReplyDeleteMy WW is up too!
Hehehe. I'm not accustomed to seeing this with such lively music in the background. Nice to see another version that isn't Turkish.
ReplyDeleteWell, something very different for Wordless Wednesday this time. I'm so glad you and your friends had such a good time in Hurghada, but I'm sure it's good to be back home, too.
ReplyDeleteJ'ai la tête qui tourne! Impressionant!
ReplyDeleteokay that made me dizzy after a minute but it's a great show. thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletehappy ww!
Never seen anything like it, very impressive, amazing he can handle that without getting dizzy!!
ReplyDeleteHappy dancing WW!

ReplyDeleteI love the colours ... Oh and I clicked play before reading the red type, almost deafened myself and next door got an early morning wake up call lol
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful but boy am I dizzy! I don't know how he does that for so long. Happy WW!
ReplyDeletehow does he not just fall over. I quite wanted to try spinning around (like you do when you're a kid!) to see how long it took for me to fall but I know it would be about 3 rotations. So 20 minutes! Wow.
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty loud Gattina - are your ears still ringing?
A figure of speech comes to life, thanks to you, Gattina. This is amazing.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Happy WW and have a nice day.
ReplyDeleteAmazing Gattina How does he do that and not get giddy, I got giddy watching him...
ReplyDeleteI was trying to figure out how he did this, but I couldn't. You were right about the sound! I thought, pooh: it can't be THAT loud! And it was! I really liked having this peek into other cultures. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteGreat video, thanks! Happy WW!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's really cool! I would be dizzy after about a second! Happy WW!
ReplyDeleteWell... that made me dizzier than I already am. LOL Happy WW!

ReplyDeleteHappy WW & Thanksgiving! Great WW video. I've never seen such an act before. I got dizzy just watching the 4-minute video...
ReplyDeleteMy WW post featured actor killed off this week on The Unit television show. Don't tell anyone, but, I cried at the end (sigh).
peace, Villager
that was very cool!
ReplyDeleteThat really is amazing. So much energy. Happy WW
ReplyDeleteI remember my dad talking about "whirling dirvishes"
ReplyDeleteI don't know where he happened upon one in his travels.
I suppose I should google it but my mind digging makes me think it had something to do with a religious quest to a certain city.
I think the trip sounds amazing let alone this dancer! :) Great share. Happy WW & Thanksigiving!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Holly
thanks for the warning on the loud speakers, unfortunately i didn't think it was that loud. good thing i only woke up the sleeping cat :)
ReplyDeletei have to say just looking at the video made me quite dizzy, i'm curious if you got a bit dizzy too especially that he is front of you.
Wow! Thank you for sharing :) Happy WW!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what that is, and can't run videos, so Happy WW :P
ReplyDeleteIt must take a very long practising since childhood to not get dizzy from all that spinning. PHEW!
ReplyDeleteVery special indeed. Wonder how it did appear from the beginning?
That really is amazing! It's lovely to see the lovely costume as well as being able to hear the music. Wonderful and exotic!
ReplyDeleteI saw an act like this at a friend's birthday party in an Afghan Museum recently. It was incredible.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for posting your footage. I'm a big dance lover, so I really loved your WW this week!
ReplyDeleteImpressing,
ReplyDeleteI think I and Anna have to do some hard traing - magic Tango - before we go to Buenos next Saturday
Thanks for sharing
That was amazing Gattina! I have never actually SEEN a Whirling Dervish before. Thanks for inviting me to come over and see it. My kids enjoyed it too.
ReplyDeleteSorry I put my name in Mr. Linky (I am not doing WW). Enjoy your evening!
I cannot understand how he doesn't get dizzy, fall over or throw up all over the place. Very picturesque what he does with his skirts, though.
ReplyDeleteI would be so sick I can't even imagine. He is impressive. Thanks for sharing this.
