CORONAVIRUS VACCINATION THE FIRST GENERATION

The year 2021 will be an historical year because the first vaccinations against the Coronavirus started ! This year will be mentioned in all history books, encyclopedias, and without any doubt in Wikipedia !

Our great grandkids will be proud to have had their great grandparents in their schoolbooks !

I got my convocation and had to go to the next little town which is almost part of Waterloo, because you don't know where Braine l'Alleud (abreviation BLA) starts and Waterloo ends.

The vaccination center was in the huge sport center of BLA

The entrance where normally many people should line up for their vaccin, there were only three or four  !

when I arrived there was nody

More then enough parking space

a very big hall with seats always at 1.50 m distance

approaching when I heard my name, I saw two girls

after the vaccin I got a card to prove that I had the first Pfizer vaccin the second will be in a month

and when I came out I even had a nice view on the Waterloo Lion.

A lot of people are still reluctant to get the vaccin because it is so new and in their mind hasn't been tested long enough.

THE LAST THING I PUT IN THE FRIDGE

The last thing I wanted to put in my fridge and fortunately didn't because I realized that it was a plate with apple peels ! which certainly didn't belong in the refrigerator but I had it in my hands when I went to the kitchen to throw the peels in the bin ! 

No wonder I have to think of so much that I am so distracted. It's not the first time I've put something in the fridge, even my slippers once ! We searched the whole apartment for my slippers and Mr. G finally found them in the fridge when he opened it. At that time I didn't have any excuse I was just 29.

I am getting fed up with the Lockdown rules ! When you go shopping which I avoid as much as I can, you have to think not to forget your mask, line up in front of the entrance door, get a disinfected caddie, then you disinfect your hands and you have 30 min to do your shopping ! And you have to be alone !

If ever you have the good idea to go through a carwash, you can't, it's closed ! The Coronavirus sits in the brushes and soap and water, while you are alone in your car with contact to nobody.  But you can take a bus or the train where everybody is squeezed together but should have a mask on his nose AND mouth otherwise you get a fine of 250 € ! Isn't this absurd ?  I never would go out without mask, that's in my own interest, but why should I wear a mask when I am alone in a wood ??

This is our second lockdown and it's worse then the first one. There is also the curfew from 10 pm on til 5 or 6. No way to celebrate Christmas or New Year or you have to put up spare beds, which is not allowed as per houshold you can invite one person ! The other one has to stay on the street if it's a couple and only until ten!

Finally the only thing to do not to loose your mind is to make the best out of the situation, think what is the best for you and the less dangerous. 

Therefore I will continue to put things in the fridge which really don't need to be there at least it makes us laugh !

RESTAURANTS IN CORONAVIRUS TIMES

What bothers the most the Belgians is that the restaurants are still closed. The lockdown is not yet finished. The Belgian is a gourmet and doesn't bother to spend a fortune for a meal and usually also spends hours at table.

The restaurants suffer terribly because of the lockdown and probably quite a lot of them are near bankrupcy.

Some restaurant owners however let play their creativity and try to adapt their rooms leaving enough space for the chairs at the tables to respect the rules. As it is impossible to eat with a mask unless you do it like the Arabian women and lift the mask and quickly shuffle the food in your mouth let the mask down again and eat !

As the people have to sit  alone and it is not very nice if you can't see each other, a Dutch restaurant had a good idea and created these glasshouses, where their gourmets can eat in peace and see each other. It then looks almost normal.



at two in one house and a Plexiglas between them. No way for the naughty virus to disturb the dinner ! And it even looks quite cosy.



Another restaurant or café had another nice idea, the guests sit in the middle of a tyre on a chair and with this system the distance is guaranteed !



An other one looks more classical the chairs are placed in the right distance and the places are for two people also devided by a Plexiglas.

I think the Plexiglas producers make their fortune with the Coronavirus and the masks and gloves and steril coats producers too !

What is luck for one is misery for the other !

WASH YOUR HANDS !!

Wherever I go these days, in all shops or households you stumble over  

Dettol Instant Hand Sanitizer.

On Television they show you how to disinfect your hands and how important it is to have the hands clean !


The notice is quite easy :

Press nozzle gently to get Dettol Liquid Hand Wash on the wet hands. Rinse. Dry off.

Please pay attention to the word "gently" otherwise you will disinfect in one shot, your arms and half the body and probably also the furniture behind you !

If you go shopping and the young students spray the caddie handle before they give it to you, it's better to stretch out your hands if you don't want to be disinfected from top to bottom. We all get a disinfected caddie to keep the distance with your neighbor shopper !  the notice continues with the advice :

- Avoid contact with eyes. Therefor don't look in the sprayer if the hole is open or closed, it's better to direct the sprayer against a wall or in the air !

- In case of contact with eyes rinse with plenty of water. If with all these precautions you still get the disinfectant in your eyes, follow the advice, because your eyes don't need to be disinfected, it would rather make you blind for a while.

- If swallowed/ingested seek medical advice immediately and show this container or label.

If ever you take the bottle by mistake for a drink hurry to the next hospital. In case you are still alive they will pump out your stomach. (at least I think so I never tried)

- Use only as directed (this is the most important sentence in the whole notice)

Under no circumstances ask your doctor to follow the advice of a certain politician, who suggested injecting an unspecified disinfectant into the lungs of covid-19 patients, if you don't want to land on the next cemetary ! 

Anyway I have to say that my hands have never been so clean in my whole life ! I hope I didn't wash my fingerprings away, although I don't think I will need them in the near future.

SITTING IN A GOLDEN CAGE

Today is my third week's and 3 days time in my golden cage.  I am like a parrot or a budgie behind grids, not really, because I have big windows to look outside.  I call my cage golden, because I can sit or work in the garden,  I don't have to stay in a little apartment in the middle of a big city with empty streets in a 10 floor high building and a bunch of kids. That must be hell !

It's not so easy for everybody to live 24 h together and you can't escape for a shop or a park or just some city walk.

Now that we are locked up, the sun is shining and calling us to come out for a walk in the park or forest and not to stay inside. But no, when we could still run around freely, the weather was cold and rainy. It's just not right.

Today our only connection to our friends  and families is the internet ! What a great invention, I switch on my computer and can see my friends or family in their golden cages and we can talk together..



Toby always has a very good appetite ........Working for school from home

Our children work from home and my grandson has school on internet. I am happy that I learned to handle a computer since 2005 which helps me so much in daily life connecting me to the outerworld. Most vintage ladies here are afraid of  computers and regret now that they never made the effort to learn. Some of them live near to their children and when it comes to shopping, they put the shopping bag in front of the entrance door and chat from far through the window.

Meanwhile I got used to my locked up life. I can't do anything, not even sort out the things which have to be thrown or given away when we move. They would sit in bags in the room for I don't know how long, therefore I just rest and try to gather forces for this last big change in our lives.

We have sold our house and found a very beautiful apartment  ! I was so fed up with the garden and the steps, in our new home we will have a big terrace, and a lift to the 4th floor. The view too is very nice and we are in the city center of our small town.

Never happened in history, that the whole world is locked up all together !
