LAEKEN CEMETARY - BRUSSELS

As Belgium is a catholic country "All Saints Day"  (November 1st) is an official holiday and everything is closed. The use is that on this day, Belgians bring flowers and wreaths to their deceased relatives and friends. A few years ago I visited the Laeken cemetery. At that time it was not so well known, but now the beautiful statues on the graves have been discovered and this cemetary has become a tourist attraction.

  1. This cemetery reminds me of the famous Novodevichi in Moscow. It has statues and monuments of a high artistic level, which turn the place in a great touristic attraction.

  4. That looks like a really intriguing spot.
I love seeing old gravestones and somehow history becomes alive when you can see the dates and life spans of all those who rest there.
