When I was a little girl, I always was the first one to participate to play tricks on adults.
One of my favorite was to attach a string to an empty wallet, covered the string with sand hid behind a little wall and waited until somebody came to pick it up and then I would pull the wallet away. Of course I was not alone. The people got mostly very angry and rant, while we were running away laughing !
We had an old lady living in the building where we lived, she hated kids and therefore was the ideal victim for us. One little boy had heard that cats are attracted by Valerian so we emptied a whole bottle under her window and all cats of the neighborhood came and meowed and fought making a terrible noise. Don't ask me from whom he had got the bottle.
We also loved to ring on all doorbells usually there were 6 or 8 and ran away.
At school it was not better. I didn't like my English teacher and had the good idea to put the school skeleton in her closet where she used to hang up her coat. What fun we had when she opened the door and the skeleton fell in her arms and she screamed !
I have to say that in the 50th adults were not very children friendly and we took our revenge !

ringing the door bell happened a lot in our neighborhood. My 2 little brothers were famous for putting frogs into meighbor's beds! They nver did it to my bed (surprzingly), maybe because they knew their older sister would take revenge, lol!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little girl you were. And quite natural too, being mischievous! I also found (this was in the early 60's) that teachers actually HATED the pupils. You wonder why they became teachers? Have a great day. Jo
ReplyDeleteThe innocent girl does not look so innocent in the photo to me. I see naughtiness, at the very least.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to think back to the old days of some what innocent fun. Sound like you had allot of joy.
ReplyDeleteHAH! Sounds like you had a fun childhood...
ReplyDeleteYou were quite the trickster! Do you still like to pull a prank now and then?
ReplyDelete=)
You had some interesting times back then!
ReplyDeleteYou were quite the prankster! That's funny about the cats, although not so much for the old lady!
ReplyDeleteYou did look like a sweet little girl who would not be so naughty. The ones to really watch out for. I enjoyed your stories. :-)

Ha ha -- you look about as innocent in that picture as you do now -- which is to say not so very! Good for you. You are right I think -- it was rare to find a teacher back then who liked kids. I survived Catholic grade school in those years (but just barely, believe me).
ReplyDelete"Not Innocent" I couldn't get away being naughty, my dad was very strict. You adventures were fun reading.
ReplyDelete..
Yes you were very naughty and brave too. All I did was annoy my sister and that was always fun.
ReplyDeleteI always suspected you not being the average middle-aged lady....lol...
ReplyDeleteThe worst thing I ever did was put a thumb tack on the history teachers chair. I felt bad doing it though but the kids did things and dared me to.
ReplyDeleteThe funny part was she came in, sat down and we all held our breath thinking oh boy here it comes.
But she went through her lecture, got up and left with the thumbtack sticking to her skirt without knowing it was there.
We had such a laugh after that.

Oh my goodness, such a time of innocence. Adults were not kid friendly in those days. My paternal grandmother had a wicked little dog, he was a Pomeranian, and he hated children! My cousin Dennis, would crawl under the kitchen table and pull his tail. We ran away giggled with delight whole my grandmother cursed in Slovenian! That is why I know all the naughty words in my native ancestors language.! You were a beautiful child and looked so innocent! Thank you for sharing. You were quite the prankster! Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletegosh, you sound like a terror. The skeleton was a good joke! {:-Deb
ReplyDeleteYay! Such a cute little girl you were, naughty though;)

ReplyDeleteI was a bit of a tomboy when I was young but didn't have anyone nearby to do those kinds of things with and they really are more fun together.
