More participants are here at Kelly's Show and tell Friday
Some of you probably know that on Sunday mornings I go to the Midi market in Brussels. It is a very big one with around 400 stands. It's not that I always buy something, but I love the athmosphere there and I love to walk amongst the tourists from all countries or simply the local people. There are little cafés around where you can drink a glass of beer or coffee or something else. It is nothing special that people have their beer there at 9 in the morning.
So I show you some pictures of the variety of this market, where you can find almost everything.
vegetables, fruits, and spices of course
cheese
but also clothes, underwear and shoes
fabric and toys and many other things
Each year in July/August there is a very big fair too ! Here are some pictures I took early in the morning when everybody were still asleep in their mobile homes.
From the market to the fair
This is one of the loudspeakers so everybody can hear the music !
Thousands of people are coming here from all over the country or abroad and enjoy the fair and its typical Belgian specialities.
reminds me of the market back home, somehow although that sounds odd since I'm talking about the Philippines. I clicked over to your photo blog. It looks like you have fun stuff going on there. I'm dabbling in amateur photography so I'm sure I'll be back.
ReplyDeleteI love markets! We lived in Belgium for six years, in Mons, and I loved to go to the market with my parents and browse through the stalls. I've been to Waterloo as well and walked up to the top of the monument - what a trek that was!
ReplyDeleteI hope to take my daughter to Belgium one day to retrace the footsteps of my youth.
Can I come with you this weekend? How fun. How colorful and oodles [LOTS] of good stuff to be had.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great market Gattina! I've never been there though!!
ReplyDeleteAbout the challenge, just post a picture of a beautiful door, old, new , open or closed... does not matter, just something interesting?
Or an interesting story about a door... I will start on Monday, but I'll do Fun Monday as well!

("The London Eye")...
Oh, it looks amazing! Thanks for stopping by my blog to see show and tell also. I miss Europe, I traveled there with my husband quite a bit in the past. I REALLY miss the beer and being able to just sit down, kick back, and have one at noon without anyone looking at you funny! :) Take care!
ReplyDeletesounds a beautiful market!
ReplyDeleteAnd an international atmosphere! Brussels and Strasbourg became two European attractiv places! En parlant de marché cette après midi Mélissa m'a trainée partout: coiffeur, et toutes les boutiques branchées pour teen agers qui ont le STYLE! Et ce soir elle est repartie voir son boy friend sans manger! Ouf!!! quelle énergie quand on a 16 ans!
I love your photos. It looks like a wonderful market.
ReplyDeleteI wanna come!!! The one thing I always wonder is... is the Midi Market only there on weekends? Or do you only GO on the weekends? It seems like a lot of work to set it up every weekend and then take it down again... so I just wondered.
ReplyDeleteYou didn't showcase you bargain purchase! LOL! ;)
OH! I also found it interesting that all of the words on the carnival rides are in ENGLISH!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great market. We just live a few miles from our's and love it.
ReplyDeleteLooks fabulous-- I would love to stroll through that market!
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you!
