On Saturday the city was full of "Sales" addicted people ! Fortunately I was not at all in the mood to buy something, I only went to the pet shop to buy pads for Arthur and litter sand. This shop usually full was nearly empty, of course they didn't give 30 to 50 %.

As Nicole lives nearby I thought I will have a coffee with her, but first I went to a store where I always buy my trousers or Jeans, because they fit on me as if they were especially made for me. I quickly stopped to see if they had the jeans I wanted and they had ! Exactly the same which I had damaged in my painting course they were full of a color scale and just to be thrown away. I was happy that I had found the same and even the same color and of course I couldn't resist to also buy a pullover which fitted with the Jeans. Then I stopped at Nicole's and we had our coffee, she also had found trousers and a blouse, and we decided that it was enough now for "Sales" !

In the evening somebody made a firework in the street, it was already around 10 pm and no New Year anymore,  I stormed out of the house and shouted to stop it, I was so furious because not only it is not allowed in our area but I heard the poor dogs bark ! Unfortunately the neighbor's son got my whole fury, he tried to interrupt me, but I just went on, until I realized that for once he was innocent, he only went to work !

I had shouted so loud that suddenly there was a silence and nobody did a firework anymore ! Mr. G. called me back, he had been already in bed and he knew when I am furious I am furious !

Sunday morning I had difficulties to get out of my bed, I was so lazy again ! But finally I managed to write my cat post.

In the afternoon we were invited at my oldest friend, I know her since 1963, each year she does a beautiful Christmas decoration, it nearly looks professional and each year also another color. Last year it had been pink, this year it was white and gold.

We had delicious cake and spent a nice afternoon together the time went by so quickly so that suddenly it was already 6.30 pm.

We said good bye and returned home and had spent the first weekend of 2020 very nicely.

Before going to bed we had a little snack, we still were full from the cake and watched a short movie.

FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

I started the week by looking out of the window to make my program for the day,





and when I saw this, I only wanted to make one program : hide and sleep until spring comes ! Just as my cats !



I pulled myself together and thought that is a day to sort out the photos on my computer. And that's what I did ! At least in the evening I had the feeling that I had worked hard the whole day !

The weather didn't get any better, but this time I didn't bother because we had our scrabble day. Instead of 4 we were 5 and it went more quick. I didn't loose I was just before the last one !
Unfortunately I forgot to ask one of my companionship to take a picture of me and the huge black dog Tosca, who, when I made a Yoga demonstration on the floor thought it was a new game and wanted to do the same. He jumped around me and pushed me with his wet nose, the girls laughed their heads off, and that's why there is no picture. I have to say that the dog has about the same size as me !

For aqua gym I badly needed a bathing costume, my old one had become like a bag around me. Nothing is better then going to the shopping center because the shop I had found on internet was also there. With a friend who also needed a bathing costume, we went there, had a nice lunch and both found the right costume, so we were very happy. Sales was still going on until the end of the month and now as the end is near, there is sales on sales ! I didn't need anything and didn't see anything which would have attracted me, but she found a very nice pullover.

Then we returned home in the rain of course.



Here we are in full action in our painting class, it seems that we have an epidemic outbreak of cats, I had always been the only one painting cats and now half of my companionship is painting cats !!

As usual we had a nice time and after class 4 of us went to the Carrefour Lunchgarden and had lunch there. A rather extended lunch because we arrived around 12 and left at 3 pm !

FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

The week started again with grey and cold weather,  and  I thought I would need another warm polar suit so that I could change, but going out and walking from shop to shop and maybe get a flu, made me hesitate but then I found the solution, I went to the shopping center where I had all shops and it was warm and I also could have a coffee.

Of course I didn't find what I was looking for, there were polar suits but only in animal shape, as cat, bear or as unicorn ! Although I am not a shy person I thought it wouldn't be so appropriate for a vintage lady to open the door as cat, bear or unicorn with ears and one horn and tails !



When I came back I googled for such a suit found a very nice one without an animal face cap and tail.

A friend had invited me to see her Christmas decoration, as she does it real artistically and each year in another colour. This year it was in pink. It certainly had been a lot of work and looked beautiful.



We had our weekly scrabble this time at Nicole's and had a lot of fun with her little cat Isis.



Isis thinks she should help in the household and each night pulls out Nicole's pullovers and carries them from the bedroom into the living room ! Poor Nicole each morning has to laugh and puts them back ! Now Isis has also started to nearly open the drawers of the bedside table, but so far only manages to pull out some pieces. I think in a short time she will learn to open drawers !



After having checked my camera, she settled down on my purse ! I am sure it was because it smelled so good my cats ! Isis has the most beautiful crosseyed eyes !!




Mireille had really funny letters for her game that's why I took a photo. To make a word with 5 O's and one L is rather difficult. Nevertheless she won again and I was lost ! The fruit cake was delicious and despite the awful weather we had a very nice afternoon.

During my painting lesson I tried again a "pouring" painting,  I don't know what I have done but it went completely wrong. My table was full of different colors and looked like a modern painting itself. It took me half an hour to clean up everything ! And with that I forgot to take a picture of this disaster !!

1. From being burried in snow last week, it now warmed up and it rains. The cars have all the same color of grey dirt, you can only guess if they were originally blue, grey, red or white. On Monday I stayed home because the "Winter Sales" started and there always is a rush into the shops to get the most interesting and cheapest things. I didn't want to end up as a pancake, being overrolled by hysterical women so I took the opportunity to make some long due phone calls.

One started when Mr. G. went out shopping asking before "who is on the phone ?" and I said "Chantal" and when he came back and he saw me still on the phone he asked "who is that now ?" and I answered "Chantal". He glanced at his watch and stated : more than 1 hour ??? I swear it was only 5 maybe 10 min !

2. Finally I had enough of staying home and amusing myself with household scores as my cleaning lady is still on holidays and I decided to have a look on the "Sales" (Soldes in French) too.



Still snow on the parkings and rain. The ideal weather for catching a cold.

3. In Belgium there are "Sales "or "Soldes" twice a year, in July summer sales and on January 2nd winter sales. During the year "Sales" are not allowed. That's why people are so eager to catch a good opportunity. Sometimes they wait for hours in front of a store to be the first when it opens. I came back with 2 pajamas for Mr. G. and still alive. I am a modest woman, I don't need anything ! (you are allowed to laugh !)

4. My friend Domi and I really needed something funny to see and as I had recorded "Mamma Mia" which we had seen a couple of years ago, she came over in the evening and we watched the movie together and had a lot of fun especially because the film had been translated into German and it was so funny to hear all actors speaking German. Fortunately the songs had not been translated and were still in English. As she knew the story I only had a little to translate. Mr. G. opted for flight and escaped in his room to read. As there are no cars flighing through the air, no explosions and no murders or other actions, Mamma Mia wasn't of any interest to him.

Unfortunately I had to go out to do some shopping otherwise we would have starved, and I took the opportunity to take pictures of our street while I was driving ! (a new challenge ...)
Besides our mail box there is still a mountain of snow and a little Santa still sits in the flower pot. It's not a weather to do something outside.

1. Last saturday our son and DIL visited us from Amsterdam and he prepared a barbecue in the evening.



The weather was warm and nice and we were prepared to start to eat when a terrible thunderstorm came up and we had to run inside. Fortunately the meat was grilled !



It was late afternoon and it looked like night

2. The next day it was sunny again so I could ask my son to take a big carpet out of my room



which he did. Here you see a picture of "posh" people with oriental carpets on their terrace.

3. I rearranged my room and put a rag in, now it looks much bigger



of course Sir Arthur has to try it out.

4. Our neighbors are on Holidays in France and Mr. G. takes care of their cat with the nice name "Chou chou", which means something like Darling or Sweatheart.



So each morning when he calls "Chou Chou" my neighbor looks out of the window and shouts back "Yes !" You see there was sunshine in the morning but in the evening was a thunderstorm again and it rained cats and dogs. Mr. G. put his Australian raincoat on his shorts to cross the street, of course followed by Sir Arthur.

5. In Belgium there are only two periods of "Sales". One winter sale which starts on January 2nd and one summer sale starting on July 1st. During the year sales are not allowed. You can imagine the rush on the first days !



I also looked a little around, but didn't find anything not even a little cat figure. I quickly lost my patience when I saw all these people bargain hunting.
