FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

In fact I could continue the post from last week, because there are not many differences.

On Monday I did my shopping and returned quickly home as there was a strong wind and rain ! Since May began, it's a lousy weather !

We were four for our scrabble and I drove the girls to Nivelles where Chantal lives it's about 16 km away. It was a very nice afternoon.

It did me real good because Mr. G's condition was even worse than the day before. The next day I called the doctor and asked her what was going on. Of course she also had  noticed that his state had worsened and that she had changed the dosage and now he has to get used to it.

I had noticed that my view became worse and worse and had an appointment with the ophthalmologist right around the corner. To check my eyes it took her 2 h ! Just put drops in, wait, put me in front of her machine and looked deeply into my eyes, put again drops in and again I had to wait, but in between she did the same with two other patients.

She jumped like a flea from one to the other and then called me in again to take pictures of the inside of my eyes. When that was finished she started to give me an university course, but I stopped her immediately I didn't want to become an ophtamologue I only wanted to know if I needed glasses and that my eyes are healthy and no macula in view ! I think she was a bit disappointed that I didn't wanted to know more, but for me it was greek with all the latin words although I had had some latin at school !

I hurried home just in time for the two guys to open the door for the yearly check up of our heating. When they were gone I went to my optician to choose glasses. Gosh ! the glasses were so expensive  apparently I have complicated eyes, but still I never thought I had to pay 700 € ! But I was lucky there was a promotion and I got two pairs, one sunglasses and a normal one !

My cat Rosie had an infection at the end of her tail and had lost the hairs around. I had to buy a new carrier because I couldn't find the old one, which had probably disappeared during the move.

I found a real nice one like a travel bag, not heavy at all. I put it on the floor so that Rosie could check it, and to my surprise she approved and after having sniffed around all corners she went inside and settled down !

So the next day I left the bag on the floor and when it was time to go to the vet, she was already sleeping inside ! I just had to close the zippers ! She said nothing in the lift but started meowing softly the whole way long, fortunately it was now closer to our apartment then to our house.

I was relieved that she had nothing special just a little irritation and she gave me a cream to put it on Rosie's botty ! If she lets me !! The way back went smooth and without problems, and now the carrier stands still there because from time to time she does her lockdown nap in there.

And another week went by, although the hairdressers and all shops are open and even the terraces of the restaurants, the streets seem empty and unfortunately with this awful weather it's really impossible to sit outside ! Not good for restaurants and bars !

Rosie just woke up for a minute !

MY CAT AT THE VET

Mr. G's childhood dream was to own a white cat. So getting his dream come true, we went to an animal rescue center and while asking for white cats, somebody showed up with a carton and sitting in there was little 6 months old Arthur.

Of course we filled in all the requested documents and took baby Arthur home. We quickly noticed that Arthur was a very special cat.

I could write a whole book about his adventures but today I just tell you one for the the One liner Wednesday prompt. Meanwhile Arthur is not a baby anymore but a grandpa of 18 years old.

One day, I was in the kitchen when Arthur suddenly appeared on three legs. The left front paw he held up and when I saw it I got a shock. The leg and the paw were full of blood and on his white fur that looked even more dramatic ! I carefully picked him up,  put him on the table to have a closer look. Fortunately only the paw was bleeding the leg was only full of blood. But the worst thing was, one claw was nearly hanging out and crooked. I left Arthur on the table, picked up the phone and called the vet. Fortunately she was in and had her consulting hours. I described what happened and she told me to come over right away and that she would take me before the others, as this was an emergency.

I got the carrier and carefully put a slightly reluctant Arthur in. He didn't like the cage, but sat down. At the next street, Arthur started his free concert. He sang with full heart in his awful Siamese voice and didn't listen to my prayers to stop it. And that lasted the whole way through until we arrived.

When I got out of the car I was close to a nervous break down.

In the waiting room were a dog and a cat with their owners.  The dog immediately got up and forgot that he was sick pulled at his leash and wanted to get near Arthur's cage. Arthur who didn't sing anymore as soon as the car had stopped, looked at him bored and preferred to look at the other cat. The vet arrived she had seen me coming.

Arthur was very brave on the table and let check his paw without any problem. Diagnostic was, she had to take out the claw, it was so deeply broken that there was nothing to do any more . So I had to leave Arthur with the vet only for 24 h. I could pick him up at 5pm the next day. Heavy hearted I drove home and Mr. G had a sleepless night !

Next day punctually I arrived to pick up  Arthur. The vet opened the door and with a relieved sigh told me that she was happy to see me. I wondered why, but then I went with her into the consulting room and saw  Arthur walking around ! When he saw me he came immediately to greet me walking on three legs the forth  with a nice blue bandage which matched nicely with his fur.

I asked if everything was OK and she nodded a yes, Arthur is fine, she said, she had taken the claw out and now it has just to heal. Politely I asked her if he had been good. I better didn't have asked !

As soon as she had locked Arthur in a cage in a special room, where all the others sick animals were in their cages already operated. Arthur started singing.

He sang louder and louder, and finally she couldn't stand it any more (Arthur always wins) and let him out.

Immediately Arthur was the best cat in the world. After having examined the whole room, while a cat sat on the table and had sniffed all strange smells, even if he could hardly walk He sat down on his three legs and observed what was going on with the cat on the table.

And so it went the whole afternoon. He stayed there and observed the sick animals and what was done to them.  But at one moment she had to close her consulting room and had to lock Arthur into the cage again.

She told me the last thing she heard before closing the door of the room was a noise similar to a tortured person. But she had to leave and I only came later.

The vet told me that she had never ever met a cat like him he hasn't scratched not even hissed at her,  the only thing he had done was protesting with his "beautiful" loud voice. And she sees a lot of cats.

We left, Arthur sitting in his cage and looking around. In the car, as soon as I started the motor, he thought he had to make an anti-noise and sang again with all his heart until we arrived home.

I was exhausted !

FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

As usual the week started with our Scrabble group. We met at Myriam's, it was warm and sunny and we played on her terrace. And a miracle happened ! When it was my turn I made 72 points at once with the words "sellez" and "salez" ! I was so surprised as were the others that I took a picture, because I think it will never happen again ! And for the first time since we scrabble together I won !

After café and cake, Nicole and Mireille put their feet up, they ankles were so swollen that they didn't fit in the shoes anymore ! We had a nice afternoon !

Sir Arthur my cat had eye problems and I had to go to the vet. Both of us worked hard to get a very reluctant Arthur into the carrier ! We were red like tomatoes from the effort and Arthur protested loudly with his Alfred Hitchcock voice. Once in the car he stopped meowing and settled down.

We were too early and we had to wait. I put him in front of the window and he watched what was going on outside. But then when the vet wanted to take him out of the carrier, he refused with his whole body, he suddenly became a wild tiger all claws out and he hissed and  snarled, it was impossible. The vet a young woman, told me that she has to sedate him and that I should come back in two hours. I said good by to the still hissing Arthur and went home. Arthur is 17 and not the youngest anymore. Two hours later he had his eyes cleaned, pulled out two teeth, and had got an antibiotic shot. In the car I let him out of his carrier and he immediately went to the back and looked out, was his old friendly self and happy to ride in a car ! He likes it !

After all these excitements I felt like a rag and collapsed on the sofa and watched TV !

Taking out my passport I stated with horror that it had expired ! I had thought end August, but it had been July. Impossible then to take a plane or the Eurostar to London. I called the German embassy, because I still have a German passport. I think it is easier to talk to Trump then to an employee in this embassy. I wanted a paper attesting that I am allowed to travel, but of course that didn't exist, I should, please fill in all the requested formulars online and not "life" and make an appointment, bring my birth certificate. I told her that since 60 years they have made a passport for me they should know that I am born and still alive, and that the certificate must be with them. She insisted that  rules are the rules and I had to bring this certificate, and if I don't find it ask my parents (???) unfortunately that made me laugh and I told her that my parents were dead since a long time otherwise they would be in the Guiness book of record. The frustrated lady didn't appreciate at all my humour and finally I gave up it was just useless. The appointment I had to make online. the first available date was in September (!!) and then I had to wait for a new passport for 6 to 8 weeks. Fortunately I can travel by car or train with my identity card.

As officially our painting class is on school holidays some of us have decided not to follow the kids but continuing the class.

and what fun we had ! We tried out abstract painting, which is called "pouring" and in short it is a technique where you mix colors with glue, put them all together and pour them on a canvas ! The result is amazing and never the same. We all were very satisfied with the results.

To end the week we went for lunch together in a big "all you can eat" Chinese restaurant and when I came out of there I thought I will never eat in my life again ! The others felt the same and we all returned home for a little or big rest !!

FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

.Due to awful "spring" weather, I stayed home because it hailed, rained, stormed, everything to make you feeling spring ! Fortunately there is the Television and the computer, because everything was done in the house. My friends were still on holidays so it was a lazy day !

I had to go to the pharmacy because I ran out of medication for my pulmonary problems It turned out that with all the troubles with Mr G's accident, I had forgotten that I had absolutely to go to the lung doctor because I also needed a test and an authorisation to be reimbursed for the medication which would cost over 100 € without the health insurance !

My cat Arthur had watering eyes and looked not good, so I went to the vet ! What an adventure ! The so brave, cute and social cat suddenly was transformed in a furious mini tiger, we couldn't even take him out of the carrier, he growled and hissed had all crocks out and the claws too.

Finally with a stick through the hole of the carrier, the vet pushed Arthur in a corner to give him an antibiotic shot ! She couldn't do anything else without an anaesthesia and he is already 18 years old ! We hope that the antibiotic helps for his eyes. On the way home he sat behind in the car, looked out of the window and nearly waved at the children, who watched him, the white cat from other cars. At home he was again the sweet cat ! I never thought I would be afraid of Arthur !

After a one month break from aqua gym I was surprised that I could still do all exercises without any problems. We were almost all there and had also a lot of fun

We also had our painting class again and after that, Nicole, Myriam and I went to the Asian restaurant. The two others who usually come with us couldn't they had the runs, apparently a virus runs through the population because I heard of several cases

We had a very nice meal and it was so much that all three asked for a doggy bag ! So for tomorrow we have already our supper ! A thunderstorm came and we quickly returned home.

I am still very tired and without any energy, I have to force myself to do at least the most important things, like paying invoices. Mr. G. calls me every day 3 times and wants to come home. It's useless to tell him that it is not my decision but the one of the doctors and his doctor told me that he is far from being ready to go home ! So he complains and complains and will not understand that it would be irresponsible and dangerous to let him go. He can't stay up for long and if he falls I am unable to pick him up and no insurance would pay eventual damages.
