MY WEEKEND OF OCTOBER 6

We had a grandparents weekend ! Little Toby arrived for a visit together with his parents on Saturday.

After lunch, first thing they did, our son cut part of the hedge and mum and Toby helped to collect the branches and put them in the garbage bag. The help didn't last long, he preferred his wooden bicycle and biked around the terrace.

Nonno, who is probably the only Italian man in the world with no musical sense tried to play on the little piano. Toby was not very impressed, my ears yes.

While the parents went shopping Toby heard the neighbor's lawn mower which made a lot of noise. So through the hedge I showed him what it was and then got out our robot and switched it on. Toby was very impressed, so impressed that I took two seats and we sat there like in a home cinema ! And when Oscar (the robot) approached we lifted our legs ! We had a lot of fun ! Then he played with his cars.

Later in the afternoon he tried the piano, Nonno had given him his Ferrari cap, and for a while he didn't want to take it off.

A little walk with his bike in our street,

then a game on Nonna's Kindle,

and one on mum's smart phone, which he both handled like an old professional,

Toby wore Mr. G's cap which he had gotten when he was called up for military service in Italy.

After that busy day, Toby and the grandparents were tired and we three went to bed, while the young parents had a drink in a Pub in Waterloo.

At 8 am on Sunday morning, I found Nonno and Toby sitting in front of the TV watching the Formular 1, while Toby had his breakfast. As Mr. G. is a Ferrari fan, Toby joined in and each time he saw a red car he screamed "Ferrari" !

Of course after that he had to try out Nonno's Ferrari helmet. But it was a little difficult to eat lunch with that thing on the head.

The weather was still kind with us so Toby could play and run in the garden, before they returned home.
He promised us to come back but now he had to go back to Amsterdam. He will be 3 in November and speaks like a waterfall in Dutch and French.

Although it had been such a nice visit and rather short, after the last weeks of stress with Mr. G's surgery we were quiet tired. I watched a little TV and fell asleep !

I pulled out some weeds and went to bed very early !

WHAT DID YOU DO THIS WEEKEND ?

Helps you to remember what you have done on the weekend of July 8 . If you participate please put the little logo on the top of your post and leave your link.

This was quiet a special weekend ! Today is my 70th birthday, I leave the 60th to join the 70th ! And to celebrate with the family we went to Amsterdam !

Our little 2 1/2 year old grandson Toby, recognized us immediately and greeted us cheerfully. He then unwrapped the little gifts we had brought and while we were having a drink on the patio, he was playing in his private "swimming pool".

After his afternoon nap, we went by tram to Amsterdam, because it's quiet impossible to go there by car especially now where it is packed with tourists. We took a sightseeing boat, which was a birthday gift for me and had a lot of fun. Toby sat in the tram and then Nonno (Grandpa) walked him to the boat where we took a seat. The weather was wonderful, sunny and warm. Perfect for such a tour.

I was especially amused by the houseboats, where people live, some of them looked so funny. Lots of young people were in their boats and the tables were full with beer cans ! They sang and played music and had a lot of fun and waved towards the sightseeing boats. Mr. G. was delighted, there was a couple of Italians sitting with us ! So he translated for them into Italian.

When we came back my birthday party started ! I had no time to take a picture of the gifts because Toby started to help me to unwrap the packages ! Therefore I only have a picure aferwards ! I was really very spoilt, I got a selfmade drawing from Toby, a framed picture of the both of us, and a very sophisticated Kindle "ebook reader". It's much more than only to read books because it also has Internet, I can watch movies etc. I haven't read yet all the possibilities. Mr. G. offered me a lapis lazuli necklace with the appropriate earrings.

While Toby's Daddy did the barbecue, mummy dressed the table and Toby hungry waited for the first sausage. The meal was delicious and we could sit outside the whole time.

On Sunday morning we went to a little beach near their house and I had the first sunbath this year !  Toby tried out my seat, Nonno prepared a sand castle and Daddy pulled Toby in his little boat. It was like a real holiday.

After lunch Toby showed me how he put the rails of his train together and played with the little wagons, then we loaded the car and returned home.

And tomorrow I will celebrate again this time with my friends.

WHAT DID YOU DO THIS WEEKEND ?

Helps you to remember what you have done on the weekend of April 13. If you participate please put the little logo on the top of your post and leave your link.

This weekend was a very busy one ! We celebrated Mr. G's birthday and on his request only with the family.

At first he wasn't very delighted to see the indoor bike I had offered him to keep him a little in shape, but then when our son showed him how it works he was quiet happy ! Now I have to carry him and put him on the bike everyday (probably !)

When grandson Toby arrived with his parents, he  started to take out all his toys I keep here for him. Now he knows our house very well and immediately felt home.

The weather was good with us and spring has moved in, so he could play football (soccer) and our cat Arthur wasn't afraid at all and watched the game.

It's rather seldom that a cat likes so much a little boy of 2 1/2 years !

In the afternoon we went to a beautiful park near Waterloo and of course Toby asked for an ice cream, which he licked off with pleasure.

For the first time this year we could sit outside on the terrace of an old farm changed into a restaurant.
He ran around with other kids and a dog and had a lot of fun, which made him ask for a hot cocoa drink.
Usually on the fields are horses, because there is also a center for autistic children who do a hippotherapy, but they weren't out yet.

In the evening we had our birthday supper of which I forgot to take a picture ! We had fresh salmon presented like cupcakes as a starter and then pasta with different fish and seafood with lots of vegetables and as desert a Tiramisu. After this long day, Toby was very tired and went to bed early.

On Sunday morning it was rather grey but not cold and we made a walk through the Waterloo Flea market.

Toby was mostly interested in little cars and not at all in the little girl !

In the afternoon the sun was shining again and he played with Nonno (grandpa) on the grass !

They also played football together again and Toby laughed out loud when the ball fell on Nonno's head ! (see the arrow)

Arthur of course had to run with Toby and they looked at each other sitting in the grass. That was so cute to see !

Nonna (grandma) too had to play with the ball, but wasn't very good, so he preferred to pick up some daisies and offered them to me. After lunch they all left to return to Amsterdam and Toby was quiet tired.

When they were gone, I rested a bit and then went to Brussels to pick up Claudie which I knew through blogging who arrived from the South of France.

I turned around and around in the station to find her because her mobile didn't work in Belgium ! But finally we found each other and could drive home ! With all this entrances in this enormous station, I didn't know anymore where I came in so we were looking for my car for at least 20 min until I found the entrance which I had used when I arrived and my car just parked across the street !

Finally home, Mr. G. had prepared us a Pizza and took this picture ! After supper we chatted but then had to stop because we both were very tired !

Tomorrow our holidays together will start !
