KEYBOARDS IN EUROPE

If ever you travel through Europe and you don't have your own computer you have to use the once which are in a  hotel, bar or internet café. And then the trouble starts when you have to type a text.

The English one has the QWERTY keyboard

The German has QUERTZ with additional keys for Ä, Ö, and Ü and the Y is also at another place !

The worst is in France and Belgium for all others. It is completely different and has the AZERTY keyboard.

I have typed my whole life on an AZERTY keyboard, so when I am on holidays and have to use the English QUERTY or the German QUERTZ, it takes me ages to type a little text, as I am used to type without looking at the keyboard. The word "Quality" would become "Azrlitz" if you don't pay attention and look for the letters !

This finally convinced me to buy a little travel computer with my AZERTY keyboard and I have no troubles anymore !

  9. I hear you! It took me ages to find the @ sign on the Norwegian keyboard! Plus they have some extra letters as well, pushing signs I use a fair bit out of the way.

  10. Ah ha! That comes from me not being a world traveler. I thought keyboards all over the world were QWERTY. I didn't think the language made the difference. I wonder who came up with the arrangement of letters on keyboards.

  11. I remember posting about different keyboards ages ago and I think you made a comment. Even just using an English keyboard is frustrating for us. eg, our @ symbol is above the 2, English ones it isn't. We use the American keyboard I think, and it doesn't have £ or € on the keys. I think I would be down to five words a minute on a French keyboard. I would have to become a two fingered typist.

  12. PS, I think the one in the first picture is an American keyboard, not an English one.
