Today was the last day in Torquay and probably because we are leaving for Falmouth tomorrow, the sky cried and cried and dropped buckets of water ! We wanted to visit the town center, but we were stuck it simply rained too much.
So we sat in the library and waited for the rain to stop. Finally it became a bit better and we ordered a taxi to take us to Torquay.
First thing we did we went to a pub and had a nice meal. Meanwhile it had stopped raining and we visited the town
We also went to the shopping street and I bought a nice bag with owls on it (there were no cats !)
In the little park I saw a statue in honor of Agatha Christie, there also was a long water flow with fountains.
Then it started raining again and I took a taxi back to the hotel. Nicole and Dominique continued their shopping tour, I didn't go with them, I had enough. Ilona had stayed in the hotel, she didn't feel well.
When I came back, there was a wedding reception. I went inside the room to take some pictures of this beautifully dressed table. Unfortunately I didn't see the new weds.
I also caught a little cold so I went early to bed.
Hi Gattina - hope the weather improves for you all ... but lovely photos all the same and you do look bright and cheerful in your travel clothes! The wedding looks well decked out ...
ReplyDeleteAgatha Christie is prominently displayed isn't she .. but I'm glad you're in a decent looking hotel ..
Cheers and enjoy getting into Cornwall finally, and out of Devon - Hilary
It is many, many years since I have been to Torquay but I did recognise a little from the town photos. Sorry to hear that you have a cold. Hoping you see the sun before the end of your trip.
ReplyDeleteYou managed to pack a year into one blog post - i feel wealthy, just having visited - Thank You So Much!!!
ReplyDeleteyour outfit fell right in line with the gorgeous library! thanks for sharing such a lot of interesting and beautiful places here. Agatha Christie was a Jeopardy answer on Friday's show, but the contestants were all too young to be acquainted with her and her works. At least, it was the one question I knew the answer (because I'm NOT young!)
ReplyDeleteThe library looks so inviting. I hope you and Ilona feel better so you can enjoy the rest of your trip.
ReplyDeleteShame about the rain but with so much going on in such a lovely hotel I'm sure the rain doesn't matter. A Prom and then a wedding, must be a popular hotel.
