WEEKEND FUNNIES

During our stay in Marrakech, we only had taken half board because at noon we never were very hungry. In the morning there was a huge breakfast buffet, with everything your heart wanted and for all nationalities in the world.

Our stomacs couldn't eat all at once in the morning to keep until supper, so usually I discretely helped myself by preparing a doggy bag for lunch. I went to the buffet several times and didn't care if people were thinking that I had the appetite of a starving elephant. I usually took some cheese, fruits and croissants and we ate that peacefully in our room on the balcony. One day I saw boiled eggs just laying in front of me. I took two, dropped them in my plastic bag, hidden in my beach bag together with the other "dog" food. Anyway I think we did the hotel a favor, by helping ourselves, so they didn't have to throw away so much food.

I put the eggs in the fridge and at lunch time, Domi took one egg, hit it on the table to peal the shell off. Suddenly the egg exploded and Domi got the full content of a raw egg all over her face, bathing suit, table and floor. I looked at her and started to laugh and laugh, I couldn't stop ! She looked priceless, her nose and cheeks were yellow and the the rest was running over herher chin and finally dropped on the floor.

One thing is for sure, Moroccan eggs are all bio, coming from happy chicken pecking on mugheaps ! The eggshell is so hard like a boiled egg, when I compare them to what I get here ! You look at them severely and they already crack.

  1. I had a friend called Chirper (not a bird, a human being) who went to Morocco in the late 80s and stayed in the Rif mountains (I wonder what attracted her up there? Hmmm: I don't think it was the views...) Anyway, when she got the munchies and ordered chicken she said it was so fresh you could hear it clucking in the alley outside the kitchen door and then SLAM! and cluckluck-CLUUUUURKK!! and the hen was clucking no more. Feathers everywhere. (You got a free pillow-stuffing into the bargain.) Now that's what I call fresh!

  9. that was truly a funny experience out there. ssshhhh... i was guilty of the "doggy bag" as well. i agree that after eating too much at breakfast buffet, you wouldn't want to go out of your room again at midday to have another meal.

if you have time, my funnies post is here.

  11. what were raw eggs doing on the buffet? Was there someone cooking them there? ha ha.

I learned somewhere along the way that you can tell if an egg is raw or cooked by setting in on a hard surface and twirl it. A raw egg won't twirl.. but a boiled egg will.
