FUN MONDAY - Dreams

Sayre asked :

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? What would you do with your time? Who would you live with? How would you get there? What accomodations would you be living with? Tell me about this life you have fantasized for yourself!

If I had to answer these questions 40 years ago, then maybe I could have fantasized another life for me, but now I am happy as I am. I don't want to live anywhere else because I haved lived here since 36 years. The only thing I dream of is to push on a button in October and find myself in Egypt at the red Sea until May with house cats and husband. But I am afraid that remains a dream !

I don't want to live with anyone else but Mr. G otherwise I would have divorced a long time ago. I also don't want to change what I am doing with my time. I love everything I do, my travels, blogging, painting and photography. From a certain age on, dreams are behind you, or do you want me to have a new lover, a new house, a new country and a new hobby at 90 ?

But I still fantasize about quick travels. I wish I could go everywhere in the world in 2 to 4 h ! Even to Australia ! Maybe one day this will come true too. I can already go from Brussels to London in 1 h 45 min and under the sea ! Unthinkable when I was a teenager !

  1. I think we should always be happy with where we are or else we will end up frustrated. But I guess having dreams doesn't hurt either.

  3. Truth be told, I'm pretty happy with my life and how things are too! But I'm right smack dab in the middle of it, and my fantasy is pretty much what happens after this part, when the boy is grown and doing his own thing and it's just me and my guy again.

    Thanks for playing!

  5. Brussels to London in 1 hr 45... isn't that amazing!.. though I think the advantage is mostly on our side... I mean, it's barely any contest is it?!?~ a tossup between Glasgow in 4 hours or Brussels in way under 2... know what I mean..!!

  6. I am with you Gattina...we are at the age where we have been there done that and now have found peace n contentment. Guess we have earned it. I am with you on quicker travel though...we can get anywhere in the states by air from 3o minutes up to 4hours. But flying to other places in the world is much much longer.

  9. Air travel just isn't as glamorous as it was many years ago, is it? I can't stand the crush of people, but it's all worth it when you get to your destination, right? Like you, retired life is pretty good for me. Sometimes I wish I'd pushed myself a bit harder in my younger days.

Wishing you many, many happy days of the "same old, same old" Gattina!

  10. Contentment is great, isn't it? I am very tired of wishing for more, my husband wishes for more a lot, and all I've wanted is to be out of apartments, and we will be very soon, which I am very thankful for!

  14. Well... I am with you on no longer wishing to dream about other things! I like who I am and I like what I do. I would like to do it in different places ... but as you so often tell me - this will COME! And one day it will! I wouldn't leave my family for long anyway!

  15. I used to love traveling but have my fill of living from a suitcase.
Today I feel there is no place like home.It would be nice to sit and dangle my feet in a warm ocean but to get to the places you need to go is so invasive and limiting. They make you feel like a criminal to get there for one thing. The air line stewardesses are not as acomodating as they were before and when I go to the airport to watch the planes land, I notice they are all rusty underneath. It makes one think that one day flying at 30,000 ft the bottom will fall off and every one will fall with it, in which case I hope to invent flying luggage lol

  16. It's good to find so many of us seem content with our lot.
I ought to have written something, but as there's nothing I really want or need to change I didn't take part.
If it'd been 10 years ago my wish would've been for early retirement. Fortunately I'm happily enjoying my early retirement and reading about Fun Mondays.
