On one of our excursions we stopped at Battle Abbey shortly before Hastings. The Abbey is very old and was built around 1094. William the Conqueror had vowed to build an abbey where the Battle of Hastings had taken place, with the high altar of its church on the supposed spot where King Harold fell in that battle.
The little village around the Abbey was just beautiful
and of course also Pubs

Ohhhhhhhh how I would LOVE to walk those streets! You know... I have never seen such odd LINES in the streets! Zig zag! I wonder what the purpose is in that? (maybe so if you have too much in the pub you THINK you are walking a straight line???) LOL!

ReplyDeleteIt's been many years since I was in England. After my Aunt passed away, I just have not gone back. I sure do miss it. Especially the pubs!
