106-year-old voter chooses Obama
A 106-year-old American nun living in a convent in Rome could well be one of the oldest voters to cast a ballot in the 2008 US Presidential election.
Sister Cecilia Gaudette, who last voted for President Eisenhower in 1952, has registered to vote and says she will vote for Democrat Barack Obama."I'm encouraged by Senator Obama," she says. "I've never met him, but he seems to be a good man with a good private life. That's the first thing. Then he must be able to govern," she adds. Here I only can say Bravo ! she still has all her brain ! I wonder if she is McCains cousin, they have about the same age !
Cambodian couple cut home in half
Mr Rim's half of the house has been moved to an undisclosed location
An estranged couple in a rural village in Cambodia have sawn their house in half to avoid the country's convoluted divorce process. Now I am thinking how my city would look like if couples would do the same here ?
US debt clock runs out of digits
Until last month, the clock had enough digits to measure US debt levels
The US government's debts have ballooned so badly the National Debt Clock in New York has run out of digits to record the spiralling figure. The digital counter marks the national debt level, but when that passed the $10 trillion point last month, the sign could not display the full amount. The board was erected to highlight the $2.7 trillion level of debt in 1989. The clock's owners say two more zeros will be added, allowing the clock to record a quadrillion dollars of debt. They must have a big credit card !
Snake bursts after gobbling gator
The predators died in the clash
An unusual clash between a 6-foot (1.8m) alligator and a 13-foot (3.9m) python has left two of the deadliest predators dead in Florida's swamps. The Burmese python tried to swallow its fearsome rival whole but then exploded. The remains of the two giant reptiles were found by astonished rangers in the Everglades National Park. That could happen to us with a big Hamburger !
Fashion fans call in a shrink
ODDBALL fashion victims are splashing out on cosmetic belts to shrink their HEADS.
Women in Japan wear the 5 belt around their bonces while sleeping.
Makers of the Kogao Meiku Beruto claim it will shrink the size of heads over time. I hope it doesn't shrink the brain at the same time !
Taking a bow at Fashion week
BOWS are back and we’ve got the look all tied up.
At Fashion Week’s Topshop Unique show, bow-tied headscarves in the style of Corrie’s Hilda Ogden were big news. Summer’s pretty ribbons are getting a tough twist for autumn, with mesh, leather and metal detailing on everything from necklaces and bags to belts. I don't know if I will follow this fashion ! My head would look like an in a blue ribbon wrapped gift !

Way to go Sister Cecilia!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove bows. So will be in fine form! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI am sickened by that board in NYC... they should just take it down! I can NOT believe what the Bush Administration has allowed to happen to our country in the last 8 years!!! Clinton was getting this mess all cleaned up, and Bush just UNdid everything and made it worse!
ReplyDeleteUmmm... I don't think that model should be following this fashion either... I'm sure she's looked better...
The corruption of our American government and the greed of our leaders saddens and disgusts me.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand...
Why do the Japanese ladies want smaller heads? That just doesn't seem right.
There are certainly some weird and wonderful news items around. People are so amazing aren't they, with all the different things they do. It'd be a pretty boring world if we were all the same. I really enjoy your compiled news...especially your little comments at the end.
ReplyDeleteThat snake wasnt so smart...
ReplyDeleteNow we’ll get to see if Abraham Lincoln’s famous speech is true. . . "A House Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand"
US debt clock runs out of digits-well that is a truly depressing thought :(
