Each Friday evening during summer time Waterloo people gather in our park for a drink and snacks. Just behind me was this cute little dog !

WEEKEND

It was a busy weekend in Waterloo (Belgium). There was street sale for the shops the Saturday



and the center was packed with people looking for a bargain. I didn't go I just went through by car and could take pictures because we moved like snails. I didn't need anything and was not in the mood to buy something either.

Instead I went to Myriam to talk about our Painting's class reorganization and especially publicity, we would need a few new members, sad to say, but some died and some were too old to continue.  It was still very hot 30° !



In the evening we all went to the Waterloo "Apero" it was a little cooler and there were quite a lot of people, I had bought a camping chair so I didn't have to look for a deckchair, there were a lot but apparently not enough. We had a real nice time and as usual I ate my portion of Belgian chips, which are especially good here.

Over the night we had a thunderstorm and the temperatures dropped by 10° ! It was cold !! At least I had the feeling. In the morning I did my blog stuff and in the afternoon I went to the second part of the street sales and this time also other events.

A big surprise ! A Venitian costume show went through the main street, and several orchestras in different costumes. Myriam, Ilona and I found a nice place on the street in front of an Italian restaurant and we could watch the whole show !



Suddenly a man who sat in front of me called me and showed me the orchestra who started to play a very famous Italian song. I was surprised that they sang in Italian, but then the man told me that it was for me ! Yes, they played for me. And I still don't know why ! But I was very happy !



and then we saw these men and women or couples in these beautiful Venetian costumes walking down the street ! It was a very cheerful atmosphere and everybody enjoyed our city fest very much !

WEEKEND

At 5 pm each Friday Waterloo organizes an "Apero" get together for all inhabitants, there is to drink and to eat (not free of course) and we are sitting on the grass or in deckchairs or some people come with their own chair.

It's nice people meet and chat and this time we had wonderful weather it was warm and sunny.




Saturday I was in a sad mood because of my cat Kim (story here) and to comfort myself I went to buy beige jeans. Of course once in the shop, I didn't find beige jeans but the striped trousers with a matching T-shirt which I wear in the photo below and was happy with that.



We have a Coach company which organizes one day excursions for all ages but mostly middle aged until vintage age are participating !This time we had booked a trip to the Ardennes to the only island in whole Belgium. We had a nice barbecue there and it was very hot around 30°. We also visited a big very old brewery.  I will write an extra post about the area.

It had been a long day and I will fall into my bed now ! It's still very hot ! 

WEEKEND MAY 26

It had been very hot this weekend with temperatures up to 30°C (86F) and I spent most of the time on the terrace in our garden. There was a little wind and the heat supportable. I had moved my computer and worked outside. I also watched a movie and felt on holidays !



Late afternoon I went to the "Waterloo Apero" which is organized each week for the inhabitants of Waterloo. My friends were on holidays abroad so I went there alone, but I knew so many people that it was nice and very funny.

Sunday morning it was very warm and sticky ! I went to the market to buy some roasted chicken, little grilled potatoes and tomatoes for a salad for our supper.



I moved my office outside and could stay the whole afternoon, although it rained at some moment and then the sun came out again. Only the temperature didn't change.

And while I surfed on my computer, a delicious smell came from our new neighbors garden. Apparently they did a barbecue, I also saw some smoke around the corner. I would have preferred to smell the freshly mowed lawn, instead of kitchen smells, but of course when the weather is so nice, a barbecue is nearly a must. But we had just had our lunch !



The smell was a little special to my nose, probably because of the spices, our neighbors are from Lebanon.



and then I heard my name, Jean was calling me and gave me this plate over the hedge. It was covered with this flat bread and underneath was roasted chicken and pieces of veal with some vegetables I don't what it was and two different sauces. It looked delicious. It was really very kind of them to introduce us to the Lebanese kitchen ! We will eat it tonight as a starter !

Each week the people of Waterloo are invited for the Waterloo Apero, in the park of Waterloo. There are deckchairs little tables and you can eat and drink while meeting people from Waterloo and from our Facebook group "Vivre à Waterloo"



I went there with Nicole, the sun was shining and we all had a lot of fun. It felt like a little village gathering. The weather was also perfect. Next week we certainly will return !





For Mother Day I got this beautiful bouquet from my son who lives in Amsterdam. He also called me and wish me all the best and grandson Toby showed me what he had done for his mummy !





I thought how over the years Motherday has changed. When I was that age, we made things for motherday at school which mostly were horrible. I remember that we all got a new grey cleaning rag and cross stiched a text with read thread ! There was not much to offer so shortly after the war in 1950. My mother put it in the bathroom until it disappeared. When my son had this age it was the same, they crafted something at school for the mothers, which mostly was completely useless but far more sophisticated then my rag, I also kept it for a while and then it also disappeared !

Today it's different ! Toby had made composition on the computer with photoshop and his father had framed the artwork. He had sent me a photo and I really was amazed he surely had an artistic vein !
