HODGEPODGE APRIL 10

 1. What's a lesson you've learned from a mistake?

Be more careful with making friends

2. Do you salt food while you're cooking or let diners add their own?  What's a food you think must be salted ? Do you like pepper?

I prefer to salt a little bit, and let my guests add salt, that's easier then to take the salt out again. And egg has to be salted. I like pepper, but it depends on what.

3. What was the last gathering you attended and what did you do there?

I raked my brain if I ever attended a gathering, but can't remember any.

4. Your favorite shade of purple? What's your favorite purple flower?

I am very ignorant in flower names, but I believe that this is a Hortensia and I like this purple shade too.

5. Share a favorite spring travel memory.

We never traveled in spring, rather in autumn to escape the cold. But I have been several times visiting a friend in spring, who lives in the South of France and I loved it, because I was living in her family and she showed me a lot. She came then in August to Brussels and loved the North.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I have no special thought, it's nice that at least the sun is shining, because if I see and listen to the News, I think how is it possible to have voted for a sick man ? for me he suffers from Narcissistic personality disorder which is a mental condition characterized by a constant feeling of superiority (megalomania), a need to be admired. I think I don't have to mention a name.

  1. Ahh! I have learned to be careful with making friends. I've been burned many times in the past.
We never travel in the spring either, it's always been the summer or Autumn. It looks like you had a great visit to the South of France.

  3. It is a Hortensia - from the Hydrangea family. We have one in our front garden.

  4. The south of France sounds like a lovely trip. We call the flower hydrangea here in the US, but it looks like your Hortensia. I love hydrangeas and they are prevalent in the southern part of the US where I live. So many beautiful colors. Yes, I've been to Belgium a few times, and my hubs had an office near Ghent so was there often. It's one of his favorite places.

  7. I really appreciated reading your answers—there's a gentle honesty in your reflections that makes them so relatable. That lesson about being more careful with friendships resonates deeply; it's something many of us learn the hard way.

I smiled at your thoughtful approach to salting food—it's true, once it's in, there's no going back. And yes, eggs absolutely need a touch of salt. As for pepper, it really is all about the dish, isn't it?

Your spring memory in the South of France sounds lovely—living with a friend and experiencing her daily world must have made it all the more special. And your Hortensia choice is a great one—those purple blooms have such a soft, calming beauty.

Your closing thought was powerful. It's important to voice concern when something feels deeply wrong, especially in times like these. Holding onto honesty and critical thinking is more essential than ever. And yes, thank goodness for sunshine—it really does help steady the heart when the world feels a bit too heavy.
