When I made the tour around Ireland, we stopped in Waterville, a village on the Ring of Kerry, it was the favourite holiday location for Charlie Chaplin and his family. He and his family always stayed in the local hostelry, The Butler Arms Hotel. Charlie Chaplin and his family enjoyed the anonymity of life in this picturesque location. They appreciated the remoteness of the location, away from the trappings of fame, and Charlie enjoyed many hours of fishing on Lough Currane.
Of course I had to hug Charlie who didn't move. A beautiful place indeed.
The Butler Arms Hotel looks very inviting from the outside, as long as your bedroom window opened out onto the water beyond. In order to love the remoteness of the location, away from the noise and busyness of the cities, the quiet picturesque location needs to be fully enjoyable. The tables out the front look perfectly located for a cold drink :)
ReplyDeleteI love that first photo! Thank you so much for sharing at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2024/03/barnegat-lighthouse-on-long-beach.html
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures!
ReplyDeleteI remember meeting Charlie in Ireland.
ReplyDeleteWhat a coincidence. This week I have been giving guided walks around London and showing people where Charlie was brought up and the workhouse where his mother was sent long, long before he became famous in America.
ReplyDeleteThe statue is marvelous.
