FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

I think this was the easiest FFF I ever wrote since I am participating. Now that my bronchitis finally is over I feel so weak and tired that even the slightest movement brings cold sweat on my forehead.
I could only walk a few steps without sitting down. So I sat or lay on my sofa and watched movies. I didn't have the imagination to write and fell asleep halfway through a film. My little trip to the Lorraine has probably taken more effort than I thought. I'm sorry that I have nothing else to offer besides an empty head and the feeling I've been run through a wringer. It was like that until Thursday

I watched a very interesting program on TV which was called "Transformation". This time it was a father who had asked his son to have his tatoos covered for only one day, just to see how he would look "normal" again. When the guy appeared I almost fell off my sofa, there was not a single cm of his skin uncovered. He told us with proud that his body is tatooed to 90 % ! I suppose the uncovered spot must be in his slip !

To my taste he looked like a monster, he must be full of complexes and hides himself behind the tattoo.  For him it must be a big effort to agree to his father's wish and let his tattoo cover from a professional make up artist. Then he disappeared for 4 hours for the make up !

and here his face is shown before and after. When he discovered himself in the mirror he couldn't believe that what he saw was himself ! Then father and son fell into each other's arms. Dad was happy but son didn't think he was so pretty but agreed to having his face painted for family events, like weddings and funerals. That's something !

On Friday I had an appointment with my pneumologist. For once I was a bit scared. Rick who always cheered me up wasn't there anymore, but my pneumologist who knows me for quite a while was in a good mood, told me that he will change my medication and said that it was normal that my results were not really on the top, but with all I had gone through the last 4 years it was not abnormal either. I didn't know that the COPD is sensitive to stress, anxiety etc and reacts with asthma attacks. Now I understood better. Then he told me to enjoy life, travel and meet a young man ! I agreed to everything except the young man and made a gesture as if I would strangle him. We both laughed and then I went home, and all my black thoughts had disappeared.

  1. So glad you had a good visit with your specialist. This time of year always seems to make things feel worse when it's cold and miserable and we get stuck indoors. But hopefully spring will soon be here in full force and you will start to feel better. Continue taking it easy.

  2. How wonderful to have such a wise specialist. Someone who can speak from an educated place. Hopefully the new medication will help a lot. The "Transformation" story is interesting. Wonder how the son aged will feel when his skin doesn't hold up all the tattoos properly ... like a painting that's been stretched.

  3. Getting tattoos is addictive. I wonder if people regret them when they are old.. Your consultant sounds a nice man, with the right 'bedside manner'.

  4. Have you ever smoked? COPD is mainly a disease of smokers (85%).
Anyway, take care and feel better soon!

  6. I'm so glad you are feeling better and had a good report with your doctor. I can't imagine having that many tattoos. I can imagine how glad the dad was to see his son's normal face again.

  9. Get well soon. I haven't been blogging very often. It seems not too many people read blogs anymore. I try to visit yours when I can because you always make me smile.

  10. I am glad that your specialist had wise and comforting words for you. In my work if I can make those I care for laugh...or even smile, then all will be well, at least for the hours I will be there.

Hope your strength will return soon, so you can enjoy all your activities to the fullest.
