FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE - FIVE ON FRIDAY

1. This time our Scrabble get together was at Ilona's home

Mireille our half blind friend (above right) started with a Scrabble and got 50 points plus the letters ! She is very good although we have to help her from time to time especially with F and E. I only can admire her. She is such a cheerful girl and so happy that she can go out with us, because she said she had a lot of friends but when her view got worse and worse the friends slowly disappeared ! I don't call that friends ! We had a nice afternoon, Nicole was second I was third and Ilona the last one !

2. I wanted to call Ilona, and suddenly had my friend in Germany on the phone. Instead of pushing on the I I had pushed on G ! That was a nice surprise, we had a long chat and then she invited me for next week for 4 days to Cologne. I thought that was a good idea, it was a very long time I hadn't been to Cologne.

3. My GPS which I had bought because it could be updated for a lifetime,  suddenly didn't update anymore. I got a pop up on my computer that there was not enough room. Mr. G. bought a card and I went to the shop where I had bought it, but they couldn't do anything it just didn't work. I decided to buy a new one before I drive to Germany, and give mine to Mr. G. because he only drives to unknown places very seldom. That's what we did, and I bought a Mio this time, which seems to be very complete and easy to use.

4. We have very strong wind for the moment and I blew nearly away when I walked to my car after some shopping ! Nicole came with Charlie, who is always so happy when he comes to us !

Apparently he starts to bark on the main street to tell Nicole that she has to turn now and continues until she stops in front of our house. As soon as she opens the door he runs to our entrance door and barks again. When I open he doesn't know what to do to show how happy he is and then he runs to the open fire where besides the wood logs I had put some toys for him. My cats don't bother anymore, they just continue to sleep on the beds ! Anyway he can't go there, I blocked the door.

5. After my painting class, where I started a new finger painting, a landscape. I started with a grey

background and a white cat inside, then I didn't like it and made the whole thing blue, after several other color layers, a landscape with the sea and a very cloudy sky came out. As it is not finished yet and it might change again, I didn't take a picture. The reality was I forgot. As you can see we are very modern, instead of copying from a photo, one copied from her smartphone !

After the painting course I went to the hairdresser it was necessary, my hairs had grown and this time she cut it shorter than usual. I thought if I don't like it it will grow again. Mr. G likes it and that's the most important.

  1. How sad that your partially sighted companics friends began to abandon her after her sight started to diminish, like you say, they were not friends at all! How lovely that she still can come out with you and have fun, you are a real friend to her

  4. Definitely not friends if they abandoned her when she needed them more. You have a good group of friends keeping one another entertained. Especially Charlie :) I hope the storm passed you by as quickly as it did us. Yesterday was awful today it is bright and sunny. Have a good weekend.

  6. It is a bit sad that your friend lost friends as her eyesight declined, but as we age we all lose friends.

  7. What a wonderful time you had with your friends! Sad that your friend's friends seemed to abandon her after her sight slowly got worse. Not real friends. Funny that you called your friend in Germany - glad had a nice talk.

    Happy Five on Friday!

  8. Oh yes, Cologne. We were there four years ago. It has trams. It is wonderful vibrant city, full of young people at university, history, modern shops and food queues for the poor. As you are not so poor and I am not so poor, there is a great outdoor restaurant with a good view of St Stephens, DOM.

  10. I don't think I ever used a gps in Norway. Especially not where I live, I look at the map and memorize the road numbers.

  11. How sad that Mirelle's "friends" abandoned her as her eyesight deteriorated! I'm glad she has you and that she still joins in games and fun. I love the idea that Charlie tells his mistress where you live. He really loves you. I look forward to reading about your trip to Cologne with your new GPS. Your hair looks very nice: it seems just like the other day that you said it was cut so short and you posted about it. It looks very nice now. My hair also grows very fast. Have a great weekend. Jo

  13. Hi! I'm visiting from Friday's Fave Five. Scrabble is one of my all-time favorite board games. How nice that you have a good group of friends to spend time with. Good luck with your GPS!

  14. It's sad that people drop away from friends with disabilities or troubles. It's so good that your friend can get out to play and enjoy a game with you.

How fun to have an unexpected chat with your friend in Germany. I am quite dependent on my GPS for areas outside of my routine. I use one on my iPhone (Google Maps) that even tells me which lane I need to be in for the next turn.

I'm not an experienced painter, but I love that you can change directions with it pretty easily.

  23. Your hair is really cute! We (I) need a new GPS; I don't think I've heard of the brand you bought. That was a pretty nice mis-dial to get with a friend who invited you for a visit. You have nice friends!!

  24. Enjoy your trip to Cologne, hope the weather is better for you there! I admire any dog that can look so relaxed in the presence of cats, our Crazy Poodle would not look as relaxed!
    Safe travels!

  25. My Shug and I used to play Scrabble with his Mom and she always won! Except one time, when I won, and I saved the score sheet! Sorry about your friend, but glad she has true friends like all of you. Our dog used to get all excited when we would turn down a road on the way to our house we were building, and now live in. He would start whining until we got here! Enjoy your trip and don't get lost!!!
