The first word a young child learns besides Mummy and Daddy is NO ! And they love to use it. At that time "No" is a word to try out how far they can go with adults, but for adults saying NO is another story.
During my life I have learned that it is far easier to say yes than NO. A NO always creates discussions, fights or misunderstandings. Some people prefer to say yes to everything and yet don't do what they are asked for while others dare to say NO and then have problems.
I instinctively mostly say NO, then think it over and can always change my mind to Yes. The other way around wouldn't be appreciated at all ! Some people even need help by a psy in order to learn to say No !
This simple word can determine your whole way of life.

ReplyDeleteHaha those cartoons were funny. The girl who can't say "no" in any of the languages she knows is my fave :)
ReplyDeleteI agree that a simple word like no can determine your way of life.
Sometimes it is hard to say no.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's hard to say no, but once you've done it, you feel empowered! I like the mother with "NO" on her back!
ReplyDeleteOh sigh... So much angst would be averted, if people could learn to be at ease, with saying No.
ReplyDeleteLove the one of the mom at the sink!

I think you've got a good idea there….Say no, and then negotiate later if you feel the urge. I may try that on…
