BATTLE OF WATERLOO LEGO EXHIBITION

I visited the Lego exhibition on Napoleon’s life and the Battle of Waterloo which was held in Waterloo this year to mark the 200th anniversary. Close to 1.2 million blocks have been used in the ‘History of Bricks’ exhibition to create scenes depicting the life of Napoleon including his wedding and an eight foot high centrepiece of Les Invalides in Paris – his final resting place.

The exhibition took two years to put together. It took 5,000 hours to build, and used more than a million Lego bricks. Unfortunately it had been closed on July 31.

"Les écuries" where the exhibition took place

At the entrance was Napoleon's hat all in Lego of course

The "Arc de Triomphe" in Paris, amazing details !

The "Malmaison" castle in Paris, Napoleon's home and headquarters

Les Invalides, where Napoleon is burried

His last headquarter during the Waterloo battle

The Hougoumont farm, where Wellington won over Napoleon

The Lion's mound

London Bridge

The armies

and cute little figures

A huge picture of Napoleon all in Lego, look at the details ....

a harp with stunning details

And finally a picture of Wellington and of Napoleon and Josphine's wedding.

In one corner of the exhibition there was a huge table for children to play with Legos. The exhibition had a big success.

  3. Hi Gattina - what an amazing exhibition ... and I'm so pleased you posted photos for us. It is extraordinary what they can do with Lego - everywhere there seem to be models made from Lego ... when I was in Durham Cathedral they had a lego cathedral model up and running ...

But as you say the detail in these is brilliant - I love the 'art work' ...

    Cheers Hilary

  7. Fantastic!!!!!!!!!

Could I please ask a question????

Have you considered posting your lovely photos, so they are the full width of the area, on which you post? Then, they would be easily seen, in their full detail, when we read your posts.

As they are now, they have to be individually clicked on, and enlarged.

Asked by someone who loves to post her own photos, in a large way.

I just size my photos, so they fit in the width, of where I post, on my blog.

Please don't be upset with me, for asking. Please and thank you.

  10. I like the idea that the whole Battle of Waterloo was recreated in Lego.
When the children were young we always bought them some lego. Once we went to
legoland in Billund in Danmark. We enjoyed being there.
    Have a wonderful week.
