FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE

more participants at Susanne at Living to tell the Story.

1. After Aqua Gym while drinking our tea, we had an interesting discussion about diets. The best example was the Flemish politician Bart De Wever  the president of the New Flemish Alliance (N-VA), a Flemish party that strives for an independent Flanders. He is a terrible nationalist and almost fascist and we consider him as dangerous. But in a few months he managed to loose 60 kg  (132 lbs) with a protein diet.

Before the diet he looked like a personalised pig, now he could play in a horror movie.

We asked ourselves what happened to the skin, from an elephant he shrinked to a racing horse (which is an insult for the horse) but still did the skin shrink with the diet or did he have a surgery. Nobody believes that loosing such a lot of weight in such a short time will last ! Especially because he loves to eat as much as he loves to do the trouble maker.

2. I also started Yoga classes again and it was nice to see my classmates. Nicole joined in for the first time and loved it. It also was the day of the "open door" so we had a lot of spectators.

3. In the middle of the week I woke up and realized I had catched a cold. I caughed and felt lousy !
I hang around the whole day and didn't have the courage to do anything besides my blogging things. I wandered from Computer to TV and took my medicins against caugh and fever. The trouble with me is that when I have a cold, I have fever too.

4. We had the visit of a friend of Mr. G. who is only two years older than our son and whom we call our "adopted son".  He always visits us when he needs some help or support in love or buisiness questions. This time it was love, he had broken with his girlfriend and was in a terrible state. We tried our best to cheer him up and I tried my best to make him understand how women work ! Finally he left us after 4 h, feeling much better. Am I happy that I don't have lovesickness anymore, looking back it was quiet an exhausting time !

5.

My son sent us some nice pictures of Toby when they were in Italy visiting Mr. G's sister and niece. They stayed at the Garda lake and when I saw the pictures it brought back so many nice memories. When our son was 2 years old, we also went with him for the first time to the Garda lake,  to present him to the Italian family. If we would have had cameras like today, I probably would have the same pictures because the landscape hasn't changed at all !  The people yes of course.

Above Mr. G's sister (80 !) andToby's mum, the two cousins with Toby, below my SIL and daughter with Toby and the two cousins.

  3. Perhaps 60kg was a bit too much for poor Bart, that's a whole person he lost.
Love all the photos and hope your cold is better soon.

  5. We have a TV program here called "Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition" in which a trainer takes on what he call a super-obese person for a year, and most of them lose 100 lbs. or more. When they are 3/4 of the way through, if they've lost enough at that point, they can get skin removal surgery for all the excess skin resulting from that much weight loss. I don't see how someone could lose that much without having a lot of excess skin. But it usually shows up on their stomachs, upper arms, and upper thighs, not so much on their faces (though you'd think their would be excess under their chins).

I'm sorry for your cold -- hope you're feeling better! It helps me to just rest as much as possible when I have one.

It's so nice you could be of help to your young friend.

Those lake pictures look lovely, and Mr. G's sister looks great!

  7. A busy week you had! I wish I could find a good Yoga class. I used to love it.

I hate to make judgements based on appearances, but that politician doesn't look too trustworthy to me ;>)...and you are right the loss of weight in that way never lasts.

  8. Your Mr Wever sounds like Marois in Quebec lol
She was almost shot doing her victory speech. But boy I could use a diet like that.
Toby looks wonderful Nice to have babies.
I feel sorry for your poor friend.
My grand mother always told me she laughed now that she was old thinking about the things they fought over. They were so stupid. lol

Hope it all boils over soon.

Wish I could do yoga but my knees won't bend that much lol
My bakc however is very flexible even today.
