TERRIBLE TRAIN ACCIDENT NEAR BRUSSELS

I got a few emails asking me about the terrible train accident which happened this morning at 8.30 between Halle and Buizingen. My friend Ilona who lives 5 min from there woke up by a big bang. Two trains had crashed into each other frontally. There are at least 25 dead and more than 150 people injured, it's just terrible. It is a very important line to Brussels and there were many people on the train to go to work. Fortunately we have school holidays for the moment, otherwise there would have been a lot of children too. Just now the King is visiting the place. I will know more.
tonight.

When I think that I use this station so often !

Thank you for sharing this eye witness account, Gattina. I'm sure it will be on the news tonight and papers in the morning. As you say, thank goodness that children were on school holidays or the toll would have been greater. I hope you did not know anyone who was involved. Although that's probably too much to hope for. . .

Sounds pretty horrendous. Hope none of your friends and family were affected.

I saw that on world news here and right away I thought about you Gattina. So glad your ok. What a terrible tragedy. We had one very similar here near Washington DC..almost the same scenario, back in the fall.
