In the 60th 70th a city employe in Waterloo had the great idea to plant cherry trees in all streets of new residence areas. Since then they have grown and each spring they are blooming. It is beautiful to walk through the streets under this pink roof.
That's what we have around our place as well and it is so pretty to walk and see all this. Some people complain when the leaves fall and don't like you planting trees. For the environment every one needs to plant about 300 trees in their lifetime. So easy to do if you collect pine cones and dry them to get out the seeds. They germinate easily and grow quickly into fine plants to give as gifts to people in gift baskets which then end up planted in their yard hopefully.:)
They are so beautiful! Many bloggers from the northern hemisphere are depicting cherry blossoms in their posts at the moment. I'm envious as we don't have them here in the north of Australia. They have them further south where it gets colder in winter. So thank you for sharing this and giving me the opportunity to see cherry blossoms.
Those cherry trees offer a mavelous show! i'm jealous! I would want the same here! Je suis en vacances! Ouf! Je vais pouvoir souffler un peu et profiter de mes 5 matous! (chats)

ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful to see! I've also lived in a place where they had the same. Every spring equally wonderful! I never get tired to see them.
ReplyDeleteThe trees make the street look lovely. Do the trees have cherries you can pick and eat later in the season.
ReplyDeleteHere they plant some really hardy green leafy tree that can withstand the abuse in the city.
