SUNDAY SELECTION

MY WEEKEND OF OCTOBER 19
A quiet busy weekend ! The day before our yearly painting exhibition, Annie a classmate and I prepared the tables with flower baskets and arrangements. I had bought little figurines which would match the paintings and make the tables more cheerful.
Ready to be put on the tables, we posed with our decoration stuff.
We were quiet satisfied with the result. This took us the whole afternoon.
The next day we had our vernissage.
When you entered the room, this was the view.
People started to arrive. Mr. G. had a drink, Ilona showed her mother some paintings. We sat all together to chat until somebody asked one of us for explanations.
I took pictures of the artist with their paintings. Here is the vintage group aged from 70 to 79 nearly 80.
I didn't stay until the end, I left at 3 pm, because I had to prepare my suitcase for my trip to France. I also was quiet tired from all the explanations I had given and watching over the crowd walking around, that nobody touched the paintings or ran the easels over.
Finally my suitcase was ready and had the right weight, it's funny for me to pack summer clothes while here we have the heating on.
On Sunday morning at 6.30 am Mr. G drove me to the airport and I left a rainy Waterloo to arrive 1 1/2 h later in Marseille where Claudie and her husband picked me up.
After lunch we went to the seafront and now I am sitting under Palm trees. What a change ! It was a little windy but nice walk along the sea and have a beer in a café at the beach.

SHOW & TELL

This basket sits just in the entrance in front of my cat collection. I use it for seasonal decorations. In automn it was filled with pumpkins and for Christmas of course with Christmas stuff. Since then it was empty because I hibernated.
Now the first signs of spring are showing up and suddenly I wanted to do a spring decoration.
and this was the result. The flowers are all fake of course otherwise I would have to do it each week. But it looks very welcoming.
During the week I went with my friend to a junk market because she needed a table. She didn't find a table but we both found this cute paper holder, one for her, one for me, I just couldn't resist ! Now it sits in the living room.
I think hibernating is much cheaper !

EXPOSITION PREPARATIONS
If you want to decorate your blog for Halloween, I have free Headers for you here. I amused myself !
Each year in October my painting group has it's annual exposition here in Waterloo. The local politicians and VIPs are showing up of course pretending that they are very interested in art and of course all paintings are wonderful even if they are really not. Sometimes one asks to "buy" one in the hope that he would get it for free and is then very surprised that it is not even not for him. (Politicians a specialists for getting everything for free).
The preparation started Thursday with hanging up the paintings.

This sitting lady is 84 !!
Usually it means that one is on the ladder and hangs them up while all the others (me included) are standing around and give their unwanted advices. This is of course a reason for continuous laughter. We also had a
Yesterday then, when all paintings were hanging on the wall, we had to prepare the tables with the other paintings and decorate them.
I was asked to do the flower arrangements, that's what I did during at least 2 hours, for about 10 flower arrangements and then my legs came out of my shoulders, my back hurt from the long standing. This means getting old at least the body becomes rusty !

These are two samples of what finally came out. The cats on the table are pebbles which I had transformed into cats (of course). People usually like them very much as paper weights or other decoration purposes.
And today is the big day with the vernissage. I will be there the whole day to receive and explain to the visitors.
