FRIDAY's FAVE FIVE - FIVE ON FRIDAY

1. Monday was the last day for Claudie, in good company time flies by so quickly, it seemed to me that she had just arrived yesterday. I wanted her to taste the good Brussels' mussels so we went to the Lunch garden and she liked it very much. Nicole joined us with Charlie and then we all went together to the "Lac de Genval" (Genval lake).

It is not far from Waterloo and a real nice place. We had a coffee there and observed the wild geese.

2. It was still nice and warm and we could sit outside !

Claudie drank her last "Waterloo" beer !

3. My friend and neighbor came over and brought me this beautiful Hibiscus plant for my birthday.

It's a strange plant because the flowers close in the evening and open the next morning again !

4. At 9 pm I drove Claudie to the station, and it was time to say good bye. When she came a week ago she brought wonderful summer weather with her ! As soon as she had stepped into the train, it got dark again, the temperatures fell and now I am singing sitting in the rain again ! We were so lucky that it had been so nice during her stay.

5. I was a little tired and stayed home, I pottered around and worked on my computer. There were lots of things I hadn't done !

Claudie had taken this picture of me and my grandson, when we had been watching the Napoleon soldiers on Sunday.

  8. Glad you got to spend some time with your friend and the weather stayed nice. After that I'm not surprised you're tired. I think part of it is the post-visit let down. Hopefully the sun will shine again soon!

    Have a lovely weekend

  15. Lovely when a visit goes well and even the weather cooperating! We have our Washington State grandson visiting (well, he is staying with his aunt, our daughter) but we are spending as much time with him as he has (he is 17 , so it is a bit different than your Toby! ).

  16. A late Happy Birthday greeting to you, Gattina :) Your Hibiscus present is lovely. I enjoyed watching my parents's Hibiscus plant grow to be a beautiful bush in San Jose, CA, years ago, but I have never tried to grow one. I hope you plant thrives! After good times with your friend and family members I hope your weekend is good as well.

  18. I'm visiting from Amy's Five on Friday. I live in the countryside of Oregon, USA. I live in a 100 year old farmhouse and raise chickens and our son, DIL and 2 grandsons live with us.

One correction - the Hibiscus flower only blooms for one day and does not open the next day. What you're seeing is the next bud opening. :-)

Great photos you posted! ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  20. Its fun to have good friends visit. Funny how she took the weather with her. The hibiscus is a tropical plant so don't leave it out in winter.

  24. We love hibiscus plants because they seem to like our climate (even though they lose all their leaves in winter). We have three and their flowers are different colours and very vibrant.
