Using my new name for the first time & Maxine

On monday I had to leave my little cat Rosie with the vet because she was sick. I was so worried that I absolutely needed something to comfort myself. I didn't want to go home instead I went to my travel agency to pick up the summer catalogue for a roundtrip through Morocco. That done, I rang my friend and neighbour Dominique and asked her if she wanted to come with me. She was excited and found it a wonderful idea. We choose a date and a hotel and off I went the next day to book our trip.

I don't know if you have read the story of my passport in which I had to change my name after 40 years.(The whole story is here)

So it was the first time that I would use my "new" name. I told the girl that my name had changed and she looked at me with eyes big as flying saucers. I explained that after 40 years the Germans had finally realized that I travelled illegally under my husbands name, which I had taken when I married, but now the embassy had realized that this is wrong and I should have used my maiden name on my passport ! The poor girl didn't understand a thing only that it was a little "strange" that I asked her to kindly change my name in her computer files from Smith to Jones, which she did. Then only she took the booking and for the first time after 40 years I will travel under my maiden name which is again new to me. In some way I did a rebirth.

Mr. G. complained that his name is not even mentioned in little on my passport. Nobody knows now that I am married. Fortunately I have a certain age, otherwise men could get wrong ideas.

With the papers in my hands I returned to my car and hoped that my little cat will feel better soon too. Now I can dream about my roundtrip through the imperial cities in Morocco, visiting all royal palaces and historical places. Even the grey weather doesn't bother me anymore.

And these are the cities we will visit in May : Marrakech, Casablanca, Rabat, Fes, Meknes and Afourer

  1. Yes, read that confusion name in your passport. Thought that all females use their own names and not husbands' in passports or driving licences, etc.
And are you now getting down to the preparation of the trip? Looking forward to photos and tales ;)

  2. I hope Rosie is back to her old self, happy and healthy. Well I wish I have kept my maiden name, it sounds nicer than my husband's and he wishes it too now.. too late though. we really did not think about it when we registered for our marriage..

  4. Oh my gosh....you didn't mention that you'd heard anything more about Rosie tho!! I do hope she's doing better today. I just hate it when our fur babies are ill and we can do nothing for them.

    Keep us posted.

  5. Well, Miss...(lol) I hope you have a wonderful trip! This year I think my travels will only be to Berlin and to Georgia. I think this year, no cruise.
Glad to hear that Rosie is better, and my doggies say, they will gladly eat the liver meat!

  9. It is much more fun to lose ten pounds in London, don't you think? We're planning for the Super Bowl today on my blog.

  10. Nothing like planning a trip to forget about the cold gray days of winter! Hope Rosie recovers soon. The North eastern part of the U.S.A is in the middle of a blinding snow storm right now...some places are getting 24-30inches... this has been a miserable winter for the entire country.

  11. I hope the best for Rosy. What a nice destination! Marocco! Pierres' parents were living in Tiaret before going to Algery. My MIL spoke me often about this town she really had loved.
I wrote a little article about the arrival of my daughter from Finland!

  13. That's really strange about your name on the passport, Gattina. Here, when we apply for a passport, we use the name we are known by, whether it's our married or maiden name. I reverted to my maiden name years ago...got rid of the husband and his name....lol!

Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful trip and it's good to hear Rosie is coming right.

  14. That is weird with the names. I geuss people get married more than once these days and it sorts out those problems. Nothing like booking a holiday to cheer you up. When are you coming to hot Australia?

  15. That is so hilarious! Your maiden name I mean! Just shaking my head.... Very amusing though! *giggles*

OH, how I envy you that trip. You have to tell us all about it later and take TONS of photos! I've wanted to go to just Marrakesh & Casablanca for years now.... *sigh*

Dear Anonymous,
Please do not be shy and leave your name, otherwise you will end up in the bin !
